Twilight Reign: The Violet Lightning

Chapter 7: Electric Confessions

Forks was bathed in a soft drizzle, the clouds hanging low like heavy cotton. Raiko stood in front of the Cullen mansion, her hair dampened but regal, violet strands sticking to her cheeks. Her presence shimmered like the storm she carried within.

The front door opened before she could knock. Alice Cullen, glowing in a lavender sweater, greeted her with a grin that was both playful and cautious.

"I saw you walking. You're drenched."

Raiko offered a small nod. "I don't mind the rain."

"You should come in anyway. I've got something warm."

Inside, the Cullen house was quiet. Books lined the shelves. A piano rested in the corner. Rosalie stood nearby, leaning against the banister, arms crossed, golden eyes narrowed.

"I assume this isn't a social call," she said.

Raiko met her gaze. "It's not. But it's not hostile either."

Alice motioned to the couch. "Let's talk. I'll get tea."

"You don't drink tea," Rosalie said, eyebrow raised.

"I made it for her."

Raiko sat, still, poised. The lightning inside her had quieted, but her presence buzzed like live current under skin.

Alice returned with a steaming porcelain cup. "Jasmine. Calming."

Raiko accepted it silently.

-------------------

"I'm not like the others," Raiko said quietly, breaking the silence.

Rosalie leaned forward. "We know that. We just don't know what you are."

Raiko's gaze drifted to the window. "I was once a man. A human. A student playing with lightning. Then I died… and woke up like this."

Alice blinked. "You remember it all?"

"Every moment. Every scream. Every second of being erased."

The air in the room stilled.

Rosalie's arms fell to her sides.

Raiko took a breath, then continued. "When I came into this world, I thought I was alone. But you—" Her voice broke.

"You both… I feel something I haven't felt since before I died."

Alice sat beside her, eyes shining. "A connection."

Rosalie sat on the other side. "A bond."

Neither touched her. But their closeness enveloped Raiko like warmth.

"I don't know what I am now," Raiko admitted. "But I don't want to be a weapon."

Rosalie's voice was gentle. "You're not. You're someone who can change everything."

Alice added softly, "And we're already changing because of you."

----------------

The three of them sat in stillness for a time, a quiet sanctuary of emotion.

Then Alice reached forward and placed a hand over Raiko's. "I see a future where we're not hiding. Not afraid. Where you're with us."

Raiko met her eyes. "You see that?"

"I want to."

Rosalie added, "And if that future doesn't come on its own, we'll make it ourselves."

Raiko smiled, softly — one of her rare genuine smiles.

"You're not scared?" she asked.

"We are," Alice admitted. "But we're more afraid of not trying."

A bolt of thunder rumbled in the distance, as if affirming the bond being forged.

-----------------

Outside, unseen in the dark trees, a red-eyed figure watched through an enchanted crystal monocle. A member of the Volturi, cloaked in night, whispering into a rune-etched pendant.

"She has bonded with them. She knows herself. And she's more powerful than we believed."

From across oceans, the whisper returned. "Observe. Do not strike. Yet."

--------------------

Back inside, Raiko stood to leave. She moved toward the door, then paused.

"Thank you," she said without turning around.

Rosalie's voice followed. "This house is always open to you." Alice added, "You're not alone, Raiko. Not anymore."

As Raiko stepped out into the rain, it seemed gentler somehow. The storm no longer pressed upon her — it walked with her.

And above, high in the darkening clouds, lightning danced silently in circles. Watching. Waiting.
