He stopped at The Elder Grove Coven first to double-check that there was no more white oak ash out there and give them their due reward before heading to the meeting with Troy and the group.

While pleased with the reward, Mary was distracted by the news about Linda's death, which was an impressive benchmark for him, to say the least.

Despite believing he would win, she never expected him to do it so easily, considering how little he seemed affected by it, not even mentioning it.

She sent Florence and Betty to check on her afterward, and they were surprised to find the house completely intact with no damage at all. The protection around the house, which was quite impressive, remained active, showing no signs of even having been used.

If not for the smell of gasoline and the body in the basement, they wouldn't have even considered that anything happened here. It was a puzzle they were still attempting to solve while learning the many new spells he provided, further emphasizing how dangerous he and the other Originals were if not handled with great care.

...

"It's just up here. Take a right and it should be on your left," said Sage.

"This the place?" asked Finn, driving up to yet another high-end luxurious place.

"This is it. A private area has been booked to prevent anyone from disturbing us," said Sage.

"Are they not going to make a fuss about our clothes? We're not exactly dressed up for a place like this, and I hear they can be quite fickle," said Finn, driving up to the valet.

"Given what we're paying them, they shouldn't... We'll be fine," said Sage, stepping out.

"It's not us I'm worried about," grumbled Finn, following her lead after handing off his keys.

"You know that would have been part of the fun in the past, I'd walk in and identify anyone who looked at me with contempt or disdain and then send for them to join us where they would be the main course," said Sage, still carrying her hatred from her early years for everything having to do with high society, and anyone remotely resembling Rebekah's snobbish bitch attitude.

"Well, not that I fault you, but if they didn't do anything outrageous, killing them is a bit over the top," said Finn.

"All rich people are evil; some are just better at hiding it than others," replied Sage as they reached the door.

Finn smirked, "Aren't you rich?"

Sage snorted, "Case in point," which made him chuckle, and she smiled.

Ignoring the odd looks from the doormen.

Her face fell when they approached the check-in desk and received the very same disdainful look she was talking about from the woman behind it.

There is nothing Sage hated more than the servants of rich people who thought they had the right to give that look to others, despite being nothing but mere servants, basically traitors to their own. The woman had no idea how lucky she was that Finn was here.

"May I help you?" the woman asked, hinting they may have been lost.

"Yes, we have a meeting reservation under Fred, so if we could hurry things along, that'd be swell," mocked Sage in a sickly sweet voice.

"Fred, you say?" The woman asked as if a fly was caught in her throat.

"That's what I said. Has a service gotten that poor around here?" asked Sage.

The manager, who also arrived thinking the same as the woman at first, stepped in when he heard the reservation name and began reprimanding her: "Cherry! What did I say about customer service? Do I need to send you back to training?"

She shook her head vigorously in fright. "No Mr. Monigan, it was a simple mistake," desperately trying to save her job.

"There's nothing simple about it. Get out of here and take your break. I'll deal with you later. Hi, sorry about that. She's new here. You said Fred, right? If you follow me, I'll show you to your room," said the manager with a big, sleazy grin.

Sage rolled her eyes at the ridiculous act and followed.

"Ah, here we are. You'll find most of the other guests have already arrived inside. If you need anything, anything at all, don't hesitate to ask. We pride ourselves on our customer service," said the man in the most upbeat manner he could manage.

"We'll do that, thanks," said Sage without looking at him, walking in with Finn.

Inside, the two of them found everybody dressed appropriately for the venue. And as the group looked over they didn't seem too surprised by Sage's attire but when their eyes landed on him, they were a little surprised to find Finn in similar casual wear as if expecting an Original to be something larger than life only to see him as humble as their leader, and then given a second thought it made sense they were an item, the mating mark quite visible to their discerning eyes.

Shocked as they were from the mark, especially on Sage of all people, knowing her rough personality, it was Finn who had their undivided attention, for not only was he the first Original they were meeting, he was their progenitor, the one who could kill them all should he die.

"So, which one of you is Troy?" asked Finn. A distinctly loud swallowing sound came from the side, and all eyes turned towards him.

A nervous Troy set down his glass and stepped forward, not expecting to be singled out this soon, though he did speak with Sage occasionally of late, likely in his direct presence. The last thing he wanted was to get on his bad side.

"That'd be me. Hi, I'm Troy. Pleasure to meet you," responded a man sporting a mustache and stylishly tousled hair, offering a hand to shake.

Finn grabbed it. "Ah, the famous Troy. I hope your name isn't a euphemism for stealing my Helen."

Sage blushed.

Troy gulped, "No, I would never."

Keeping a grip on his hand, Finn pulled him in. "Tell me, Troy, have you ever slept with Sage? Or want to?" Compelling the answers out of him.

Sage frowned. "Is that necessary?"

"No, sir. She's like a big sister to me, saved my life," said Troy quickly, devoid of any will to resist.

"Good, good, you're a good man, Troy. Bring us some drinks," said Finn, lightening the tense atmosphere.

Raising his glass, Finn waited until Troy and others started to drink. "So, would it surprise you to learn she called out your name during sex?" Finn joked, laughing out loud when he and the group spurted out their drinks in shock, with a few of them coughing unpleasantly as it went down the wrong pipe.

"Finn!" exclaimed Sage, mortified. She couldn't believe he said that, unable to predict what this new Finn would do.

Embarrassed beyond measure, her face as red as her hair, "That never happened, and will never happen. And if anyone mentions this again, I will break you," she promised, sending a deadly glare at everyone, causing them all to quickly look away as Finn kept chuckling, much to her chagrin.

"Alright, alright, like she said, I was kidding, so what's this group been doing?" asked Finn, moving everyone over to the meeting table, sitting at the head with Sage on his right.

"You sit here," Finn told Troy, indicating the one on his left.

"Right," said Troy, taking the offered seat and wiping the sweat from his brow.

"No need to be nervous, we're all in this together. Begin the report," commanded Sage.

In the beginning, the discussion revolved around dull business and finances.

Finn could only sigh, glancing at the menu provided, knowing he'd never be able to eat any of this new, alluring cuisine.

Once that was completed, they delved deeply into their recent activities concerning those who had passed away and been replaced, as well as their overseas assignments. They examined the supernatural elements surrounding the event, its consequences, and the actions of their international competitors, with particular emphasis on The Strix.

"They've been consolidating their elite forces. I believe they're about to make a move over here. I suggest we prepare accordingly by fortifying key areas and setting up spy networks in calculated positions," said Troy, finishing his report.

"The Strix?" questioned Finn.

"Our European counterparts, while we control the Americas, they control Europe, ruled over by Tristan de Martel, who I'm sure you remember," answered Sage.

"Tristan? Ah, yes, I remember him. We were becoming fast friends before the whole dagger in the back thing," said Finn fondly.

"Well, I wouldn't get your hopes up; his sister was linked to Rebekah," informed Sage.

"Shame," said Finn, though he didn't seem particularly bothered by it.

"What are the witches doing? I'm assuming, of course, there are significant magical groups out there that need to be watched. Are you aware of what they're doing?" asked Finn.

"There are the big covens that rule pretty much whatever they want, if they want, which isn't always the case, in fact, very rarely so. In general, they don't care one way or another what happens out here; they're pretty much all in their own little world with the only threats being other big coven witches," explained Troy.

"And where do these big covens reside?" Finn asked, finding it all very fascinating. He never got to experience the witch side of his heritage, with his mother being an outlier and turning them like she did.

"That's difficult to answer. I don't think anyone knows of that which they don't want you to know, but if I had to guess, I'd say they likely take up the heart of every important capital around the world, not counting their mountainous hideouts. That way, they'd be at the heart of everything. And again, this is just a guess on my part; I don't rightly know," answered Troy.

"Hmm, and they don't care about vampires at all?" asked Finn.

"We're not seen as a threat, and I believe in the early days, they even captured and experimented on us. I hear they even have enslaved vampiric guards and werewolves that they flaunt now and again when they go out," another of the group spoke.

"Interesting, maybe in the future I'll seek them out," said Finn, immediately putting everyone on edge as they wished to speak out against it but refrained from doing so for fear of angering him.

Growing a pair, Troy spoke up, "You think that wise? I mean, they're in all likelihood capable of ending you."

Finn grinned. "I know. Makes you wonder why they don't, doesn't it?"

Seeing things going downhill from here, Sage ended it. "Well, I think that's enough for today, and I agree you should all work together and prepare a warm, devastating welcome for our European brethren. The last thing we need is another group encroaching on our territory. The Americas are ours, and they have no right to be here. And let's not fool ourselves, this is now a line war, and I intend to ensure ours is the only one remaining."

"Is that the plan then, to kill off the other Originals?" asked a member, glancing hesitantly at Finn, knowing they were technically family.

"Yes," Finn answered plainly.

"How exactly?" asked another bold member.

"You don't need to know that. They're mine," said Finn resolutely, preventing any more questions on the subject.

Finishing the meeting, Finn and Sage left first.

"I didn't notice any of them having amulets of protection or the like. We should think of getting them some. Witches will play a major role in this war, whether or not the big covens join in," said Finn.

"Some of them do, but not all of them," said Sage.

"Of course, that's assuming there will even be a war should I get my hands on them first," said Finn.

"Hmm. You didn't talk about the diet," Sage pointed out.

"I decided not to. Didn't want to alienate anyone too soon with the coming conflict," said Finn as they neared the exit.

"Don't forget to tip the valet. Unlike the apartment where it isn't expected since you live there, here it's different, and you never know what they might do otherwise. Had a friend once who swore they urinated in his car when he forgot and came back at another time," said Sage, leaning in to not be overheard.

Finn snorted, "Sounds like something you would do."

"Hey, I would not," she blushed, smacking him playfully.

"I doubt I'll be coming back, but fine, I'll tip them," he said, pulling out a few bills.

"And what did this friend of yours do to them?" asked Finn.

"Drained them of everything they were worth," said Sage, in a hushed tone as they passed through the doors.

"Sounds like a fun friend. You should probably keep them away from me," warned Finn half jokingly.

"By the way, does your group have witches working for you?" asked Finn.

"We do, but not like The Strix, who actively seek out young, destitute witches to train and brainwash," answered Sage.

"I don't know how to feel about that," said Finn. "Shouldn't be surprised, Tristan was a Count's son after all."
