[TS] Starting the Broadcast

Chapter 55 - Joint Broadcast!

The third week of August begins.
But this is a downward trend.
Gloominess sets in.
“To think it’s already declining.”
[Excessive greed tends to bring trouble.]

The cause was YouTube.
Reaching 100,000 YouTube subscribers, which I had set as the top priority goal.
Until we passed 30,000, I thought it was going smoothly, but after barely hitting 40,000, it was gradually stagnating.
I wonder if the problem was that I said I wouldn’t deal with issues related to feminism anymore after the fourth video.
Since the previous sudden rise in subscribers was related to that, it naturally disappeared along with the topicality.
It’s very regrettable.
But I can’t just keep stomping my feet forever.
First, I check the points I currently have.
“2285 points!”
I’ve collected more than I thought.
If I clear the special mission right now and receive 1000 points as a reward, I could exceed 3000 points, which was my primary goal.

‘Or if I focus on individual missions rather than 100,000 subscribers, I might be able to gather up to 3000 points somehow. There are missions for New Continent TV too.’
The amount of points gained from clearing YouTube-related missions was more than I thought.
Especially thanks to the view count.
The fourth video, which became controversial in many ways, hit 1 million views and earned an enormous amount of points.
But the problem was that I couldn’t clear related missions until another video with over 1 million views came out.

‘Right! 3000 points should be possible. Then I could fully reveal my face, though it’s a bit disappointing.’
The points consumed upgrading eyes and skin before amounted to about 1400.
If I add 3000 points to that, it would be enough to be considered pretty among ordinary people.
‘If I could use about 1000 more points from there, it would be tight but almost celebrity level.’
Of course, it would be differentiated from overwhelming visuals or top star level among celebrities… Anyway, that’s too much, and the actual final goal was 4000 points.

‘Once I reveal my face, additional upgrades are impossible. The more it remains in many people’s memories, the harder it becomes to manipulate those memories.’
So, in fact, the face that will be revealed at Mia’s birthday broadcast can be considered the final version(?).
As such, I wanted to secure celebrity-level looks even if it’s just barely.
‘3000 points is too disappointing. Somehow 4000 points… Whew! Isn’t there any good content or topic where I can clear lots of missions?’

I even tried VR recently, but there was no short-term response.
It seemed like my YouTube channel itself still lacked a clear identity.
At first, it was mainly edited videos of live broadcasts, then suddenly videos related to feminism or social issues, and then suddenly VRChat… In this state, even subscribed viewers must be dizzy.

‘I guess I need to focus on just one thing until I establish myself firmly. And after securing a fixed fan base, expand that area.’
I consulted with Yoon-jae about this issue, and since he had similar thoughts, we decided to focus on game content for the time being.
After all, that category had a large number of viewers, and my game skills were in peak condition recently thanks to the Guillotine Match 4 ability.
In a word, it means YouTube angles are coming out well as the number of games I carry increases.

‘If I win just 3 more games, it’ll be the promotion series to Diamond 2. I’ve risen much faster than I thought.’
A female BJ… and not duo but solo queue, and the position was jungler, not support.
Considering all those factors, the current tier of Diamond 3 was really a level that’s hard to find easily.
‘Yeah, from today it’s try-hard mode. Diamond 2 is basic, and I’ll even try for Diamond 1.’
I didn’t think it was impossible.
I’ve become accustomed to using the Guillotine Match 4 ability to that extent, and in that state, I could boast Master-level or higher mechanics.

While organizing my thoughts like that, I received a contact through Discord again.
This time it was Lark, who had slightly reduced contact after the Blame Others Tournament.
‘This situation feels somewhat familiar.’
It seemed to be thanks to recently contacting Clmumu through Discord and doing a joint broadcast.
Similar situation, and similar suggestion.
I was thirsty for new content anyway, so it was a good opportunity.
I gladly accepted Lark’s joint broadcast proposal.
However, I set the condition that I wouldn’t take off my mask since it’s a collaboration taking place in real life.
Lark readily accepted that condition, and we decided to do the content three days later.
I’m really looking forward to whether this will be an opportunity to gather lots of points.

After the Blame Others Tournament, Lark was wrapped in considerable inner conflict.

No, it was actually a problem that started before, but he had deliberately ignored it thinking of the tournament…
It was simple to find the cause.
Hani’s hidden camera broadcast.
Since then, he’s been constantly conscious of it.
Lark is neither single nor a child.
As a 24-year-old healthy adult male, how could he not know the identity of this emotion?
It’s not love yet.
Of course, it’s not a shallow level of liking either.
It’s almost at the stage just before developing into love… That’s why he tried to deliberately ignore it and distance himself more.
He was facing military enlistment in November.
Love in this situation!
But can emotions be controlled so easily?
When he forcibly suppressed it, it swelled up even bigger and eventually made him apply for a joint broadcast.
And a real-life joint broadcast at that.
He was fifty-fifty.
Wanting Hani to accept, and wanting her to refuse.
The answer came back.
He’ll meet Hani in person three days later.

I received the topic of that day’s joint broadcast from Lark in advance.
It was ‘military service’.
A broadcast to be conducted by four people in total: Wagyu who has about 2 weeks left until enlistment at the end of August, Lark who is scheduled to enlist in November, Wang-gae-mi who is on regular leave as a private first class, and lastly me.
They’re all people related to military service.
What about me?
Of course, I’m in my 4th year of reserve forces!
I’m more than qualified.
Even during the pre-meeting through Discord, the other three kept exclaiming in admiration at my knowledgeable military-related knowledge and experiences.
They probably thought I was very creative, but actually, they were things I really experienced.
Anyway, the broadcast concept was simple.
I’m a sergeant.
And Wang-gae-mi, who is actually a private first class, stays as a private first class.
Wagyu and Lark, who don’t know anything, are privates.
We each take on those roles and act out and unfold various episodes from the military.
Two days before the joint broadcast, we gathered at Lark’s house for the first time to lightly match up, and I was quite surprised.
I don’t know how much effort he put into this joint broadcast, but he had implemented a set that gave a military feel, though it was quite amateurish.
Thanks to that, we could practice the role-play more immersively.
After practice, I could tell that the expressions of the three men looking at me had changed considerably from when we first met, but what does it matter?
It’s not like I’m going to date those people.
I just need to do the broadcast well.

-Let’s go in! Let’s go in! Let’s go in!
-Today’s joint broadcast is really exciting ㅋ What are they going to do with this lineup?
-Wang-gae-mi is really a broadcast monster. He’s doing a joint broadcast while on regular leave as a private first class ㅋ
-Wang-gae-mi must feel sorry looking at Lark and Wagyu. They still have a long way to go.
-But what’s today’s content? Does anyone know?

Noisy viewers.
Their numbers are increasing rapidly.
500, 700, 1000, 1200, 1500… Easily hitting 3000, and from then on, the numbers are increasing gradually.
Thinking this was enough, Lark gestures to turn on the cam.
Lark’s acquaintance, who became a temporary daily manager to help with today’s content, pointed the cam camera at us.

-Huh? What’s this?
-This is crazy. I can only laugh.
-Is Lark a god! Is Lark a god! Is Lark a god!
-They came up with this content? Amazing.

For this content, Lark sacrificed the living room, which was the largest space.
He even recruited people who work in movie or art prop production… Of course, not experts, but people at the level of team rookies to save on labor costs.
Anyway, with their help, he changed the living room into a clumsy resemblance of a bunk-type barracks.
He says they prepared in this style because although most forward areas these days have new buildings and bed-type barracks, the majority of people with military memories experienced bunk-type barracks in rear areas.

“Salute! Private Lark! I came to the 1st living quarters on business.”

-ㅋ The military uniform is crazy. Where did they get it?
-What? I heard modern military uniforms have digital patterns, but they got frog pattern uniforms from somewhere.
-Wagyu is also a private and Wang-gae-mi is a private first class… Then could it be?
-ㅋ? Is this for real? Is it really Hani?

Lark and Wagyu were standing with their backs turned to the cam screen, maintaining a salute posture.
Wang-gae-mi was sitting in a proper posture.
Lastly, a person lying diagonally in front of the TV wearing activity clothes on the bottom and a military jacket on top.
That was me.
Even though I was wearing a combat cap to hide it, my hair was too long to not be noticeable.
I glance slightly towards Lark and return the salute.
The sergeant rank insignia shining on the roughly worn combat cap.
The chat window was burning up.
