Chapter 125: An Extreme Solution
Xin Yu sat beneath the tree, his eyes closed. He had forgotten why he considered that house his home, but even having forgotten the reason, his heart still regarded that place as his first home in this world. That was enough.
Xin Yu quietly felt the gentle breeze blowing through this space. It carried the scent of flowers, a fragrance not thick like perfume, but rather a light, fresh aroma. This scent could alleviate mental fatigue and allow one to relax better.
An unknown amount of time passed before the two separate dimensions simultaneously vanished. Kevin, arms crossed, stood calmly upon the sea of flowers. Although he still wore a stoic expression, the icy aura around him had noticeably diminished, making him seem much more approachable.
Seele, on the other hand, clearly showed her reluctance to part. After all, she was just a young girl, unable to control her emotions well.
"Thank you for your help, Xin Yu."
Kevin spoke his thanks. If, at the beginning, he had harbored a few traces of vigilance towards this individual who possessed miraculous abilities and might not even be human, then upon seeing the other's relationship with Mobius, Kevin's guard had completely dropped. He already considered Xin Yu a newly acquainted friend.
"Although you promised Mobius you would change past history and defeat that Herrscher of the End, I will not abandon my own plans because of it. I will not pin my hopes on others, expecting them to solve my problems for me. I will still execute my plan."
"If you succeed in changing the past, then no matter what I have done, the changes in the past will ultimately affect the future, causing everything I've done to change. If you fail to change the past, then it will prove that my decision to implement my plan was correct."
Having said his piece, Kevin turned and left this small world, preparing to return to the world bubble he inhabited, to continue awaiting his opportunity.
Xin Yu did not try to detain him. Kevin had lived for tens of thousands of years, from the Previous Era to the present; his life experience far surpassed Xin Yu's own. He was a powerful warrior; he knew clearly what he had to do and clearly how his path should be walked.
"I heard you were once a bright and cheerful young man in your youth. When I return to the past, I'll definitely have a chat with your younger self."
Kevin, about to step into the forest, paused his steps upon hearing Xin Yu's words. Then, without saying much more, his figure completely disappeared into the trees.
After watching Kevin depart, Xin Yu shifted his gaze to Seele, who stood nearby, still looking soft and innocent. He smiled and said, "Congratulations, Seele. You're very fortunate. The world you originally came from happens to be one of the worlds I know. I can send you back."
Seele's somewhat reluctant expression, stemming from her parting with the past Bronya, instantly vanished, replaced by an unconcealed look of joy.
"That's wonderful! Xin Yu-gege, thank you so, so much! I really don't know how I can ever thank you enough."
"No need for thanks; it was merely a small effort. If you truly feel uneasy about it and wish to thank me, then I hope that in the future, if you encounter someone in dire straits, and you happen to have the ability to help without putting yourself into trouble, you will help them."
"Just like me, help others a little in ways that are within your capabilities."
Seele's eyes sparkled as she looked at Xin Yu under the tree. She felt he was like the selfless elves from fairy tales, helping the protagonists overcome all sorts of difficulties, never asking for anything in return, so kind, so willing to help.
"Yes! I'll remember! Seele will definitely help others as much as possible, within her means!"
"Just act according to your ability. Remember, the prerequisite for helping others must be that you have strength to spare. If you help others without reserving any for yourself, in the end, only you and those who love you will be hurt."
Xin Yu admonished others thus. It was laughable, really; if it hadn't been for Kiana's absurd and playful confession back then, which acted as a rope to somewhat restrain Xin Yu, this fellow would absolutely not have kept such principles in mind.
Then, Xin Yu stood up from under the tree. Accompanying this movement, numerous animals, as if notified, all spontaneously gathered. They surrounded the sea of flowers, looking at Xin Yu in the center.
A gray wolf raised its head and let out a howl, followed by numerous animals uniformly raising their heads and emitting their own calls.
They were bidding farewell to the creator who had endowed them with life, form, and intelligence.
Xin Yu looked around at the animals he had created, a smile on his face.
He had previously considered a problem: after defeating the Honkai, how could humanity achieve unified development? But this problem seemed even more difficult than defeating the Honkai. Xin Yu had thought about it for a long time but couldn't come up with any solution other than brainwashing all of humanity.
The duality of good and evil in humans was deeply ingrained. Humans, inherently contradictory spirals, might harbor benevolent intentions to help others one moment, only for malice to uncontrollably surface the next, wanting to harm someone they disliked.
Even though humanity had developed for so many years, if you were to flip through history books, you would find that humanity's own moral level, if unconstrained by law, remained the same whether in modern times or antiquity.
So, while pondering this problem, an idea inexplicably emerged in Xin Yu's mind, seemingly from a fragment of past memory.
That was to erase all intelligence in the world, making animals the dominant life form in the universe.
The appearance of this idea instantly gave Xin Yu himself a big shock; he felt this thought was far too extreme.
And the reason for opening up this small world was also because the emergence of this extreme idea had given Xin Yu such a notion.
But it had to be said, a major theme for intelligent life forms was conflict. So, in a sense, that method was indeed the most perfect solution, as human conflict never ceases.
Although Xin Yu thought this, he would absolutely not implement such a plan. Even if things reached the worst possible scenario, he would not do so.
It was too extreme.
Xin Yu and Seele's figures vanished in an instant. The animals, which had been prostrating on the ground, spontaneously dispersed, returning to their own rhythms of life. A fox, its stomach growling with hunger, even pounced on a nearby rabbit. Everything returned to the wildness inherent in the ecosystem.
As the surrounding environment twisted and changed, Seele only felt her head spin. In the blink of an eye, she found herself in a new environment, seemingly the ruins of a city.
"...To think it's here again. But in a sense, this indeed is my starting point, no doubt about it."
Xin Yu glanced around, then smiled at Seele beside him and said, "Welcome back to the mortal world, lost butterfly."
