Chapter 122: Reunion
In the blink of an eye, the sun and moon had revolved. By the time Kevin regained his senses, he found that the two people under the tree had long since vanished, leaving him sitting alone beneath it. The sun above his head had already transformed into a full moon, and the figure that had always been buried deep within his heart was standing in the sea of flowers before him, looking at him.
"Is this... the world after death?"
The woman, who bore a striking resemblance to Raiden Mei but whose temperament was distinctly different, and who also wore a pair of glasses, was surveying the surrounding sea of flowers. In her memory, she had already closed her eyes, mere seconds from death, yet she had inexplicably appeared in this place.
Kevin rose from the ground, looking at Mei not far away. She, too, withdrew her gaze and looked at her beloved, who was also not far off.
"Are you really Mei (Kevin)?"
The two asked the question in unison. Then, both were stunned for a moment before they began to share little secrets about each other that only the two of them would know.
Once they had both confirmed the other's identity, Kevin walked over to Mei and reached out. He wanted to try and embrace his beloved before him, but then he remembered the nature of his own constitution. His hand paused, yet it seemed that in this place, it didn't matter.
Kevin, the strongest Fusion Warrior of the Previous Era, now clumsily extended his arms, embracing his beloved. He acted as shyly as a pure-hearted young man embracing his beloved for the first time.
Mei silently embraced her beloved as well. Though her heart was filled with many questions, at this time, at this very moment, she would pour everything in her heart into this embrace.
This was their first embrace in a very long time. Ever since Kevin underwent the Fusion Warrior surgery, his body had suffered irreversible damage. And from that day onward, he had never again been able to embrace his beloved.
But at this time, at this moment, with the problem of the cold aura on his body temporarily resolved, he no longer had to worry about harming his beloved. He could wholeheartedly channel all the love and longing in his heart into this embrace and convey it to her.
"Kevin... you've worked hard."
Mei could sense the exhaustion hidden deep within her beloved's soul. She didn't know why she had appeared here, nor did she know how much Kevin had truly been through. She was a rather clumsy person; although she could always speak eloquently and provide answers with ease when it came to academic matters, when it involved emotions... she could never give a perfect answer.
At this moment, the only thing Mei could do was to soothe her beloved's weariness with her companionship and this embrace.
...
Seele noticed that the white-haired gentleman who had been sitting beside her, looking rather cold, had vanished in an instant. Somewhat puzzled, she looked towards Xin Yu, who was beside her. He smiled and said, "After so many years, for a reunion like this, let's give them their space. Only in a space with just the two of them can they better vent the emotions in their hearts, vent these many years of longing."
"Right! Xin Yu-gege, can you find a way to locate my world?"
"Searching for a world is different from searching for a person. To find a world, I need to find specific coordinates, then figure out how to apply those coordinates to this space. Then, I need to find a way to send you to the designated place, open a barrier, and send you through. Although I can find your world based on your causality, I cannot convert the causality contained in that information into coordinates corresponding to this space."
"As for Kevin's situation, it's about pulling shadows from his past to the present. It has nothing to do with space; it's purely temporal in nature."
After explaining, Xin Yu noticed Seele looked completely bewildered, so he rephrased it in the most understandable way:
"Sending you back is equivalent to me needing to fish out a key from your past, then find a lock among the infinitely numerous locks in this world that corresponds to that key, open it, and send you back."
"For Kevin, however, it's just a matter of pulling people or things from his past to the present. There's no second step."
Seele understood Xin Yu's meaning. After thinking for a moment, she said, a little embarrassed, "Um, Xin Yu-gege, can I also meet some people I used to know?"
"Of course, no problem. Who do you want to see?"
"Bronya-oneechan!"
...Could it be the Bronya I know?
Xin Yu was a little puzzled. He then traced Seele's past space-time shadow, found that Bronya, and pulled her to this space-time.
"Bronya-oneechan!"
"Seele!"
The young woman embraced the girl. Even though Seele looked older, she still called the smaller child Bronya-oneechan.
Xin Yu let the two of them enter a different space-time, giving them a private space to communicate. Similarly, he wouldn't eavesdrop on their conversation, nor would he watch what happened in the other dimension. This was basic respect for privacy and for others.
Xin Yu leaned back against the tree. After a long silence, he stretched out his hand once more. Only this time, he intended to dredge up a person from his own river of space-time.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
As a result, Xin Yu's outstretched hand directly disintegrated into white particles. His face also became extremely pale, and pale purple blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
"No good, cough cough! Because my self from that time accompanied her to the very end, I cannot interfere with the space-time where I existed. However, I can already faintly touch upon the situation of that space-time. As long as I advance one more major realm, I'll be able to interfere with my own past time..."
"Soon, Sakura. Just wait a little longer, just wait a little longer for me. I'll be able to bring you back very soon."
The ordinary tree behind Xin Yu, after being stained with his blood, gradually transformed, changing directly into a cherry blossom tree in full bloom.
He leaned against the cherry blossom tree, the blood at the corner of his mouth slowly vanishing, and his shattered arm slowly recovering.
Although this place was a land of emptiness and void to others, to Xin Yu, who had truly set foot in a land of emptiness and void, this place was far from being truly void. After all, it was still filled with a certain special energy that he could absorb and convert.
And that true land of void was a place where truly nothing existed. Even the seemingly existent water surface and the pitch-black great sun were merely forms of existence of the void land in his eyes.
...
Kevin and Mei leaned against the tree together, chatting about all sorts of things that had happened in the past. Kevin's perpetually icy face was now filled with smiles, just like when he was still a student back then.
"Wow! Boss Kevin is actually smiling!"
"Er... There are so many colors here."
"Hmm! What the hell is this place!"
"I remember I should be dead, right?"
"Tsk! Why are you here too!"
"Elysia..."
Kevin watched as everyone from the Fire Moths appeared above the sea of flowers, looking at the woman with a brilliant smile, as beautiful as flying flower petals.
The pink-haired elfin lady smiled and waved at everyone.
"Hi! Did everyone miss me?"
