4-10: First Rounds
The girls watched intently at this first fight between the Dragons of Varsha and the Punks. They thought they they could learn more about either team, and try to come up with a counter to either team.
However, as soon as the Punks took their first step, they were instantly on the ground. No one saw what happened, but all the members of the Dragons were certainly in different positions.
Which meant one thing... they were so fast, that no one was able to actually see the fight. If the girls were to go up against them, they would certainly have a challenge on their hands.
"The Dragons of Varsha are the winners! With their extreme speed, even some of our professionals were unable to tell what happened! We may have a new team that'll rise the ranks to even Rose Garden's level! Dragons of Varsha, with your win, you may rest and watch until the next round!" The announcer said excitedly.
The winning team had left the arena the same way they entered, while the losers were picked up by medical personnel and were taken to a recovery area.
"Note to self, don't piss them off..." Cassidy joked, leaning backwards.
"They'll be a bit of a problem if we go up against them... your thoughts, leader?" Aviris asked to Veronica.
Veronica tried to think to herself. What could they do? A team that was capable of putting down a group of wild men faster than a blink of an eye.
"Those men are surely capable. Honestly, I don't think you stand a chance against them." Lilith admitted, trying to not sound too rude.
'You're right. I mean, we struggled against Kobolds. Even if it was a surprise, if we had those skills, we wouldn't have even been ambushed.'
"I think we should just continue watching them. I doubt we'd be able to beat them with brute force..." Veronica said, trying to advise her team.
"That sounds like the best choice. Unless you've got a secret weapon that could instantly stop them in their tracks, we'll need more information." Eleanora said.
'Technically, I do have that... I don't want to risk it. Not again.'
Veronica nodded, looking at the empty arena, waiting for the next fight to begin.
It took a few minutes but eventually, two teams emerged. A team of, perhaps, all mages on one side, and another team that seemed to have an equal balance of roles. But the odd thing was that last team, who had three women and only one man. Something seemed... off... considering the girls were wearing rather skimpy gear.
"And now... for the second fightif the day! We have Chariot of the Stars, an all mage team! And on their opposite, we have Zaiha's Fairies! How will they fare against each other? Let's find out! Fighters... begin!" The announcer excitedly introduced.
Immediately, two of the mages charged forwards, causing two of the girls from the Fairies to charge in and meet them.
Surprisingly, the charging mages had waited until they were practically in kissing distance before doing anything. And what they did had surprised quite a lot of people.
The mages were able to summon spectral weapons, and with an assassin like finesse, they twirled around the charging girls and struck them down. They quickly retreated back, allowing the other two members to show off their own magic.
"And the twins have made the first move! They were able to take down two of their opponents with extreme fluidity! What will Zaiha and his remaining fairy do?"
Zaiha's Fairies were now down two members, and their leader, Zaiha, was looking more than angry. His face scowled looking at the downed girls. He mouthed something, but no one could hear what it was.
The other two mages, the ones who stayed back, nodded towards each other. They had started to cast separate spells.
"A water spell and a fire spell?" Cassidy wondered out loud.
The two mages had casted their spells. The water spell was a large pillar of water that launched into the air and was about ready to come back down. The fire magic was targeting the water, and so, the girls put it together as soon as the two mixed.
The arena was covered in a thick steam that hid everything. Not even the spectators could see what was going on down there.
"The arena has been covered in steam! What's going in down there?" The announcer stated the obvious.
Suddenly, a very faint blue light appeared on the same side as the mages. The blue light grew to a rather impressive size before it was launched to the other side.
When it seemed to have landed, a loud boom was heard, the light grew even larger, and then suddenly disappeared along with the steam.
With the steam gone, everyone had seen that Zaiha and his "fairy" were both on the ground, unresponsive. And more interestingly, the girl was on top of Zaiha, as if she tried to protect him.
Veronica had decided to take a mental note of Zaiha' Fairies, as something a bit too out of place with them.
But soon enough, the arena was cleared from both teams.
And after a short wait, another two teams had entered the arena.
Veronica and her team were starting to get a tad bit bored though, as both the third and fourth fights weren't anything special. No special moves, no unique magic, minimal techniques. Just simply boring.
But, next up was their fight. The girls got up from their seats and made their way down to the arena waiting room.
"Are you girls ready?" Veronica asked.
"Well..." Cassidy looked at the other two, who only smiled and nodded. "I think we'd do better with a kiss for good luck." She smirked.
Veronica sighed with a smile.
"You are so needy." Veronica said with a slight laugh.
She closed the short distance and planted her lips om Cassidy's, giving her a loving kiss, even if she wouldn't admit it. When she pulled away, she turned to Aviris and Eleanora.
"Would you two want one as well?" Veroncia asked.
"I think I would do a bit better with encouragement like that." Aviris said with an adorable smile on her face.
"I would be honored to receive one." Eleanora stated with a cute bow.
Veronica giggled to herself as she gave a tender kiss to both the girls, who easily melted into her arms.
"How interesting..."
'What is?'
"Just something in your mind. It's not important at the moment. I'll tell you later."
Veronica thought that was odd, but brushed it off.
"All better?" She asked her team.
They all nodded in return, their gear ready for their fight.
Suddenly, the door towards the arena opened, meaning it was their time to shine.
"Let's go girls." Veronica commanded softly, leading them to what could be their first victory against people.
