Trillionaire's Slice of Life
Chapter 417: The Provocation of Zhongzhou's Young Master Liu
"Chu's methods are remarkable, managing to make a grandmaster like Jiang, who values reputation more than life, turn against him. Chu has quite the strategy indeed.
But Chu can rest assured, I, Liu Peng, am a man of my word, on my honor. If I care about face, I accept the wager and the loss. I'll invite Charles Robert myself, but as to whether he will agree, I can only say I'll do my best. Also, the twelve female bodyguards I promised you, along with a top coach, will be at Chu's disposal from now on."
The underground boxing championship came to an end with Grandmaster Jiang Dingnan voluntarily forfeiting, allowing Fan Gao to triumphantly claim the final victory. At the same time, Chu Mo finally saw the outcome he had been hoping for.
Family Head Liu Peng of the Liu family in Zhongzhou was not one to break promises. Chu Mo, seeing this short and portly older man again, pondered for a moment and then spoke with utmost seriousness,
"Mr. Liu, although I used some tactics in this match, your methods were not exactly honorable either. We're even, I would say. As for inviting Charles, the extent of effort you exert, Mr. Liu, is unknown to me, but I can offer you reassurance. If you help me get Charles Robert to join the Longevity Club, I guarantee that you will become the most honored member of our club.
Moreover, any research results from our club, Mr. Liu will be among the first to benefit from them.
Furthermore, since you fancy that Alabama horse, I'll arrange for it to be delivered to you after I return. As the saying goes, 'A fine steed for a hero.' If Mr. Liu likes it, feel free to take it!"
With those words, Chu Mo did not linger a moment longer, bid his farewell, and turned to leave.
Different from his arrival, where he was accompanied by only Fan Gao and Jiang Tao, his return was flanked by twelve top female bodyguards in cheongsam and a cold, efficient female head coach.
Jiang Dingnan had already left earlier. Chu Mo had agreed with him that once he returned to Modu, Jiang's granddaughter could seek him out. Chu Mo was a man of his word; he had previously promised Jiang Dingnan to offer a spokesperson role to the Jiang family, and he certainly wouldn't go back on his promise.
Liu Manli had also departed. This wealthiest woman in Hua Country had been too conspicuous in the earlier competition. She was to meet Chu Mo later in Modu, and the two were likely to reach a series of cooperation agreements to counter the oppression of the eight great families.
After the white BMW left Pastoral Manor and made its way toward Zhongzhou City, Chu Mo didn't plan on lingering in Zhongzhou any longer. After all, this was Liu's turf, not his home ground. If something unexpected happened, his influence wouldn't be as effective.
His private Boeing was standing by at Zhongzhou City's international airport, Chu Mo planned to take his jet overnight back to Modu. Only back in Modu could he fully relax.
The Liu family arranged five cars for Chu Mo and his company, including Chu Mo, Fan Gao, and Jiang Tao—three people in total—and then the twelve bodyguards and the coach—thirteen people in total—making sixteen people altogether. Taking advantage of the night, the convoy sped along the road between Pastoral Manor and Zhongzhou City.
Chu Mo sat in the back seat of the BMW, with Jiang Tao driving and Fan Gao, pale-faced, sitting in the passenger seat.
Fan Gao was injured and would have been best off seeking medical attention immediately, but given the unique situation and being in Zhongzhou, which was the Liu family's stronghold and not Modu, to avoid complications, Fan Gao endured his injuries until they could return to Modu for treatment.
Seeing Fan Gao breathing somewhat heavily, Chu Mo said with concern,
"Fan Gao, if you really can't hold on, you can go to the hospital. We can stay in Zhongzhou City for the night and leave tomorrow morning."
Despite his extreme pallor, Fan Gao decisively shook his head and said hoarsely,
"Mr. Chu, the Liu family in Zhongzhou is notoriously hypocritical, especially Family Head Liu Peng, whose reputation in the upper circles has always been poor. And with the recent boxing championship causing Liu Peng to lose face, nobody can ensure that he won't hold a grudge. This isn't our home ground, and if the Liu family plays foul, our influence in Modu will be of no use.
I'm aware of my injuries; they're not serious. I will recover after a few days of rest at home in Modu!"
Sitting in the back seat of the BMW, Chu Mo nodded slightly. He knew this wasn't the time for affectation, so even though he was aware that Fan Gao's injuries were serious, he refrained from speaking further.
Pastoral Manor was located in a rather secluded area, nestled among several large mountains. The roads here didn't see much traffic, especially at night. Apart from Chu Mo's convoy, there were hardly any other vehicles on the entire road.
The journey was unobstructed, and around 10:20 p.m., the convoy finally entered the outer ring of Zhongzhou City, passed through the city center, and in another ten minutes, they would arrive at Zhongzhou International Airport.
Just then, a series of urgent and noisy horn blasts suddenly filled the air. Before Chu Mo could ask, Jiang Tao spoke from the driver's seat in a grave voice:
"Mr. Chu, we have a situation!"
Chu Mo turned his gaze outside the car, and through the window, he saw that around the BMW, at least a dozen luxury sports cars were relentlessly honking their horns and continually trying to force his convoy to a stop.
"Mr. Chu, shall we force our way through?"
Jiang Tao's steady voice came through, but Chu Mo took a deep breath and then shook his head:
"This is the center of Zhongzhou City. I'd like to see if the Liu family really has the guts to touch me, stop the car!"
Following the instruction, the BMW slowly pulled over to stop, and the several cars behind it also stopped. At this moment, the dozen or so supercars had already completely blocked the surrounding area.
At the same time, the offspring of the rich and powerful climbed out of their supercars one after another, and Chu Mo's gaze in the back seat quickly locked onto a fat man with a large face and big ears.
It was Liu Mingfei of the Liu family of Zhongzhou.
Chu Mo had met him once before at a banquet hosted by the Long family in Xiangjiang and had an unpleasant confrontation with him due to the actress Deng Yun'er. At the time, Liu Mingfei had tried to use the head of the Lin family from Modu, Lin Youzhi, to pressure Chu Mo. Although Chu Mo had managed to resolve the situation, the Lin family had ultimately sided with Liu Mingfei.
The moment Chu Mo saw Liu Mingfei, his previously suppressed heart relaxed slightly.
If it had been Liu Peng, the head of the Liu family, coming to cause trouble, Chu Mo feared he would really have trouble getting through this, for the Liu family had run Zhongzhou City like a well-oiled machine, and he had no influence here whatsoever.
If Liu Peng took action, it would surely be a killing blow, without giving Chu Mo any chance to fight back.
The appearance of Liu Mingfei, the young master, indicated that Liu Peng was not informed of this, and these actions were solely the independent actions of the young master of the Liu family.
Liu Mingfei, known as the Crown Prince of Zhongzhou, was one of the potential successors of the Liu family, surrounded by countless followers. But in Chu Mo's eyes, he wasn't worth a second glance.
Chu Mo gestured slightly, and Jiang Tao got out of the car. Then, he opened the door for Chu Mo. As soon as Chu Mo, his feet in leather shoes, stepped out of the car, he saw Liu Mingfei's resentful eyes staring intently at him.
