Chapter 195 - Telling
With the examples of Zhuang Huaiya, Lin Qingzhou, and Durant, who advanced with the help of Mai Dongzi’s sound healing technique, both Tony and Wang Yiyi expressed their desire to take the cultivation potential enhancement elixir.
Since Mai Dongzi was still their team leader, she had to manage the matters of the two of them, and she was more than willing to see them grow stronger.
In short, even before the long holiday arrived, Mai Dongzi was already booked with appointments left and right.
To be cautious, and to avoid any messy complications, Mai Dongzi required that anyone wanting her assistance with taking the cultivation potential enhancement elixir must do so under the supervision of their parents, in their own homes.
This meant that after the holiday, she would have to visit at least four different places, and she turned down requests from everyone else.
It also helped that not many people had Mai Dongzi’s personal communication signal, and even fewer knew about it, so the number of people seeking her help wasn’t large.
After the final exams, Mai Dongzi would only have five or six days left on Emperor Star. Then, she would have to fly to the Third Army Group and stay with Major General Su for three months.
While others didn’t know exactly how high Mai Dongzi’s mental ability level was, Major General Su knew, which was why she made this decision. Otherwise, she could have just let her continue training at the Special Talent Training Center.
Given Mai Dongzi’s situation, she believed she needed personal guidance to see if she could break through to level eight before the coming calamity.
Mai Dongzi had already decided to train Zhuang Huaiya as her little follower, so she specifically mentioned Zhuang Huaiya to Major General Su.
As a result, Zhuang Huaiya would accompany Mai Dongzi to the Third Army Group. Although he wasn’t Major General Su’s disciple, Su didn’t mind letting him come along since Mai Dongzi wanted to train him.
This was the benefit of having powerful connections. With the status of the Zhuang family, as well as Zhuang Huaiya’s cultivation potential and strength, he would have never caught the attention of these army leaders, let alone climbed to such a high position.
But he had a genius cousin who was willing to bring him up, and with that, he had the chance to reach levels he could never have reached on his own.
As long as he worked hard and seized the opportunity, there was a chance that, through his own efforts, he could stand on that high platform.
After learning about his cousin’s training plan for him, Zhuang Huaiya worked even harder, staying up late to study.
Due to the lack of time to visit the Xi family, after the final exams, Mai Dongzi arranged to meet Ren Guang at her dormitory in the Command Department that same evening.
Upon learning that Mai Dongzi’s schedule was extremely tight, Ren Guang didn’t insist on her visiting the Xi family. When they met, he immediately got to the point and showed her a photo of a young man.
“Do you know who this is?” Ren Guang asked.
Mai Dongzi looked at the photo, her expression unchanged. She had seen a picture of Lucy’s biological father at her uncle Zhuang’s place.
She didn’t know why Ren Guang would show her this man’s photo, so she looked at him with some confusion and asked, “This is the photo of my real father, right? Why are you suddenly bringing him up? Is there something going on?”
“I saw a man on the oasis on Liva Star who looks very much like him. Have you seen him?” Ren Guang asked.
When they first saw this man on the oasis, they all thought he looked familiar.
Later, after the training ended and everyone returned to the starship, Ye Weilai met with Mai Dongzi and realized why the man looked familiar to them. It was because Mai Dongzi looked about five or six parts like the man.
However, since one was a grown man and the other was a young girl, when they saw that man on Liva Star, they felt he looked familiar but didn’t connect the two.
Mai Dongzi’s background was very unusual. Now, with no father or mother, Ye Weilai repeatedly emphasized that she felt Mai Dongzi and that man were somehow related, which led Ren Guang to entertain a thought.
After returning to Emperor Star, he couldn’t help but tell his father about these matters and even asked his father for a photo of Atom Xi.
“No,” Mai Dongzi said firmly.
She hadn’t seen anyone in the oasis who resembled that image, and the people in the oasis had not been friendly to them. If those people were under Atom’s command, they would not have treated her in such a manner.
As a father, even if he didn’t feel much familial love for his daughter, he shouldn’t let anyone rob her.
However, something came to her mind. After the Phantom Team entered the desert, Mai Dongzi always felt there was some faint surveillance.
But when she used her mental power to search, she didn’t find any surveillance devices. The feeling was very subtle, and she initially thought she had made a mistake in her perception.
It now seems that it’s likely she wasn’t mistaken, but rather that the surveillance device was far away, which is why she couldn’t detect its presence.
“That man really looks a lot like Uncle Atom, and his age also matches,” Ren Guang said, clearly troubled.
He didn’t know whether he should tell his cousin about the reactions of their family members when he inquired about Uncle Atom within the family.
He told his father about the man he had seen on Liva Star, but his father and others insisted that Uncle Atom had passed away long ago. They were adamant that the man couldn’t possibly be Uncle Atom, urging him to forget about it and not to tell Mai Dongzi anything.
Ren Guang had initially planned to ask his father to investigate further, but then he realized that because no one had known that Uncle Atom had been injured while saving Prince Arthur, after he was killed by Zhao Fanni, the family had ignored him.
Even though Uncle Atom had been the illegitimate son of the previous family head, no one in the family knew where his ashes were, since the family head refused to acknowledge his existence.
Hearing all this, Ren Guang felt that the elders of the family were not just irresponsible, but incredibly cold-hearted. As for telling Mai Dongzi, he didn’t know how to approach it. He thought about it for a moment and decided not to mention it, as it would be too painful.
Even though his father repeatedly emphasized that the man he had encountered could not possibly be Uncle Atom, after seeing the man in person and then looking at the photo, Ren Guang became more and more convinced that the man was indeed Uncle Atom.
The way that man looked at him was unmistakable—he clearly seemed to recognize him, and it was the look one would give to a junior.
It wasn’t just Ren Guang who felt this way. The members of the Starlight Team also had the same impression.
Only if that man was Uncle Atom could the resemblance and his attitude toward Ren Guang be explained.
If this had been before Mai Dongzi entered Emperor Star University, Ren Guang might have kept his suspicions to himself. After asking his father, he would have let it go and not told Mai Dongzi.
But if that man were Uncle Atom, then his identity could be complicated, potentially bringing trouble to the Xi family, and making Mai Dongzi even more disgusted with them.
But now, knowing that revealing this information would only make Mai Dongzi more distant from the Xi family, Ren Guang still decided to tell her. He believed that Mai Dongzi had the right to know, especially since that man could very well be her father.
