Chapter 159 - Training Exercise 7
After Mai Dongzi shot a stone that struck one of the level five exotic beasts, she quickly threw out another stone.
This stone was one she casually pulled from her space device; it was a smooth, rounded stone without the sharp edges of the previous one. Although it hit another level five beast in the forehead, it did not penetrate as deeply but instead lodged into the beast’s skull.
At the moment the second level five beast was hit by the stone, the first beast, which had been pierced through the forehead, collapsed, twitching on the ground in a state between life and death.
Mai Dongzi swept in like a gust of wind, collecting the incapacitated exotic beast.
At this moment, another exotic beast that had been hit by the stone softened its front legs and collapsed to the ground. Mai Dongzi delivered a powerful punch to the head of the level five beast and then collected it.
Zhuang Huaiya was somewhat astonished; the space device could only collect inanimate objects. His cousin first used a stone as a projectile to kill one level five beast, and then she knocked out another level five beast with a single punch.
He knew his cousin was very powerful, but he didn’t expect her to be this fierce.
Feeling useless, Zhuang Huaiya decided to pick on easier targets and rushed over to deal with the small level three exotic beast with two punches.
After collecting the level three beast, he wanted to target the two level two beasts but noticed that his cousin was looking behind him.
He suddenly felt a chill run down his spine and turned around to see over twenty adult exotic beasts rapidly charging down from a nearby hill toward them.
Among the more than twenty adult beasts, at least eight were level five, while the others were level four and three.
At the forefront was a level six beast, which Zhuang Huaiya knew he could not handle at all.
“Cousin, what should we do?” Zhuang Huaiya called out nervously.
Should they fight or flee?
“We have to deal with this group of exotic beasts; otherwise, they might reach the cave at night. If they smell blood near the cave, it will be even more dangerous for us,” Mai Dongzi said calmly.
Although the cave was over ten kilometers away, she did not underestimate the sense of smell of the exotic beasts.
After she spotted the group of exotic beasts with her mental power, Mai Dongzi brought Zhuang Huaiya over with the intention of eliminating these potential threats.
If they had weapons in hand, Zhuang Huaiya wouldn’t be worried. But without weapons, the two of them facing a group of exotic beasts…
When Zhuang Huaiya saw that every time Mai Dongzi threw a small stone, a level five beast would fall, he breathed a sigh of relief and took out a fist-sized stone from his space device, aiming it at a nearby level four beast and throwing it with all his strength.
With his inner strength, he couldn’t achieve what Mai Dongzi did—using a small stone to penetrate the forehead of an exotic beast and kill it in one blow.
However, it was definitely possible to knock out a level four beast with a stone of a medium size.
Of course, Zhuang Huaiya had no time to check on the beast that had fallen; he quickly aimed at another exotic beast, trying to knock out as many as possible to reduce their numbers. He wanted to prevent too many from closing in on them, which would make it hard for the two of them to cope.
Mai Dongzi dealt with all the level five beasts before confronting the level six beast.
After all, a level six beast was not the same as a level five beast. The distance was too far, and not only was the power of her stone projectiles insufficient to deliver a killing blow, but it also gave the level six beast plenty of time to evade.
However, the speed at which the level six beast was running was even faster than she had imagined; the hilly terrain posed no challenge for it, and the strong wind did not significantly affect the beast either.
By the time she was ready to confront the level six beast, it was already less than twenty meters away from her.
Mai Dongzi immediately launched a stone projectile at the level six beast, but the beast was incredibly agile; it ducked its body just in time to narrowly avoid her stone projectile and immediately leaped toward her.
To prevent her battle with the level six beast from endangering Zhuang Huaiya, Mai Dongzi dodged in another direction, drawing the level six beast away by more than ten meters.
As the level six beast lunged at her, she shot out another stone projectile. This time, the projectile was infused with her mental power, making it travel even faster than the ones she had shot before.
Although the level six beast tried its hardest to dodge, it was only five meters away from Mai Dongzi and was in mid-air; it slightly turned its head, but still got hit in the forehead by the stone projectile.
With the assistance of her mental power and the close distance, Mai Dongzi had initially thought this small stone could kill in one strike.
However, because the level six beast turned its head, the projectile didn’t strike the beast’s vulnerable forehead but instead hit the area with its strong skull. The stone struck heavily against its forehead and fell to the ground, leaving only a wound behind.
Although the stone didn’t kill the level six beast in one hit, the impact was significant, causing its head to be somewhat affected and slowing its movements slightly.
In that moment of delay, the level six beast experienced the feeling of a heavy stone pressing down on it as a rock, about half its body size, came crashing down onto its head, knocking it down to the ground.
After Mai Dongzi collected the large rock, she smashed it down onto the head of the level six beast again, and this time, the beast lay still.
She immediately collected the level six beast and returned to assist Zhuang Huaiya.
Although she and Zhuang Huaiya had used stone projectiles to take down quite a few beasts, half of the remaining beasts had still rushed toward them.
While she was dealing with the level six beast, the other beasts had pounced on Zhuang Huaiya.
Even though the remaining beasts were all level four, Zhuang Huaiya was in a dangerous situation without any weapons.
Mai Dongzi was indeed anxious, but she had to quickly resolve the issue with the level six beast first.
However, when she turned back, she saw Zhuang Huaiya cleverly taking out one large stone after another from his spatial device and directly knocking the beasts that had rushed toward him unconscious.
By the time she looked back, nearly ten beasts were lying around him, sprawled in various positions. Seeing the situation was not good, the remaining six beasts scattered and fled in all directions.
The cousin duo had successfully taken down eighteen beasts in this battle, effectively solving their food problem.
At this point, they had been out for more than an hour, and the star in the sky had dropped toward the horizon, clearly indicating that night was approaching. After collecting all the beasts, they headed toward the cave.
The wind had also weakened considerably; Zhuang Huaiya only needed to be a little careful while walking and no longer had to worry about being blown away, as he could just grab onto his cousin if needed.
“Sis, we’re now out of water. How do we get some?” Zhuang Huaiya couldn’t help but ask.
After the battle, he felt thirsty.
Although he was happy to have caught prey, given their current conditions, they would definitely need to roast the prey to eat it, and without water, they wouldn’t be able to eat at all.
However, he looked around and couldn’t find an oasis or a water source, and he couldn’t think of a good method to obtain water.
