Travelling through the interstellar world, starting with the real and fake daughter

Chapter 119 - The Competition 22

Mai Dongzi thought Ren Guang would contact her immediately after she sent a message, as he used to do.

As the only level six cultivator among the third-year students, Ren Guang, like Mai Dongzi, was only participating in the final of the grade competition, while she was in the championship match, and he had to start from the semifinals.

Tomorrow was the semifinals, so Ren Guang was probably training.

It took a full hour before Mai Dongzi received a message from Ren Guang: “You really do stick to your old tricks! No need for you to say, the Xi family already knows about Aunt Zhao’s crimes.”

Mai Dongzi could sense a tone of resignation in every word he wrote.

“Erica accused me of harming her mother, so I’m just showing her the evidence,” Mai Dongzi replied.

“Erica came looking for you; she must have been misled by the Zhao family. Prince Arthur has already secretly contacted my father. Although I don’t know what they discussed, all the elders, including Uncle Negri, have quieted down and are no longer mentioning Aunt Zhao and her siblings. So even if you don’t post this, the family already knows Aunt Zhao has committed a crime and been caught,” Ren Guang said.

“So I guessed correctly—Zhao Fenni must have committed other crimes to be arrested. When Prince Arthur sent me this evidence, he told me to decide how to use it, so he won’t target Zhao Fenni because of these crimes,” Mai Dongzi said.

Prince Arthur and Vice Admiral Chen originally planned to hand over the evidence of Zhao Fenni’s crimes to the judicial authorities. However, since Mai Dongzi wanted to take revenge for Lucy herself, Prince Arthur sent her all the backup evidence.

“That should be the case. Forget about that troublesome matter. Congratulations on training your apprentice to victory; I saw it on the campus network,” Ren Guang changed the subject.

“He should stop at the semifinals,” Mai Dongzi replied. While she said that, she was still quite pleased that Zhuang Huaiya had reached this level.

After discussing Mira’s situation for a bit longer, they ended the conversation.

What Mai Dongzi didn’t know was that after Ren Guang hung up, he sent a message to Erica.

“Your mother and uncle have committed treason. If it weren’t for Uncle Atom and cousin Xi, you would have already been expelled from Imperial Capital University. If you continue like this, no one will protect you anymore,” Ren Guang said coldly.

Although his father didn’t tell him exactly what crimes Zhao Fenni had committed, Ren Guang could analyze the situation himself.

After Zhao Fenni “disappeared,” Uncle Nigri wasn’t stripped of his title, but he did lose his position.

His father mentioned that if it weren’t for Uncle Atom and cousin Xi, Prince Arthur wouldn’t have protected the Xi family; otherwise, it wouldn’t just be Uncle Nigri losing his position.

Crimes that implicate others must be serious, like treason or betrayal. However, since the usually unyielding Prince Arthur seemed lenient, it was likely that the crime wasn’t too severe; otherwise, the Xi family would all be in trouble.

In this situation, for Erica to seek trouble with Mai Dongzi was practically asking for disaster.

Cousin Xi wasn’t known for her good temper. If Erica and her mother annoyed her, she would retaliate immediately.

Currently, she was still considering the Xi family, keeping things quiet. Outsiders weren’t aware of these dynamics. But if she grew impatient, the consequences could be severe.

The Xi family needed to stay quiet for now; if outsiders found out about Zhao Fenni’s situation, things would turn bad for them.

Ren Guang had never liked Erica, the tenth cousin. Clearly, she was the one benefiting from the “true and false heiress” situation, yet she and her mother showed no remorse towards cousin Xi and even wanted to step on her to climb higher. This spoke volumes about their character.

Especially since Zhao Fenni had committed treason, Ren Guang’s opinion of Erica had dropped even lower.

Erica refused to believe that her mother and uncle had committed such crimes. Ren Guang couldn’t be bothered to say more to her and advised her to ask her father instead. He only sent the message as a warning, telling her not to provoke cousin Xi.

It was unclear whether it was due to Mai Dongzi’s threat or because the command department students had a growing fondness for her, but no rumors were circulating on the campus gossip forum about Erica and Mai Dongzis interaction.

After leaving the treatment chamber, Zhuang Huaiya sought out Mido. He was already accustomed to his intensive training each day, especially with the half-finals scheduled for tomorrow.

Mai Dongzi instructed Zhuang Huaiya to train on his own and reminded him to get to bed early. In the half-finals, both Lin Qingzhou and David were formidable opponents for Zhuang Huaiya, unless he was lucky enough to draw the girl from the abilities department, in which case he might have a fighting chance.

The problem was that the new rules for tomorrow’s half-finals had not yet been announced, leaving the competitors with two possibilities: either they would draw lots to determine their opponents as before, or the matchups would be based on their ranking or scores.

If it was the second scenario, Zhuang Huaiya would directly face Lin Qingzhou, which would not bode well for him.

So, instead of undergoing more intensive training tonight, Zhuang Huaiya might as well wash up and get to bed early. After the competition tomorrow, the focus would shift to team training.

The half-finals were held in the school’s main square, which could accommodate two matches simultaneously.

By the time Mai Dongzi and the Phantom team arrived at the venue, just twenty minutes before the match, there were already quite a few spectators, indicating significant interest in this half-final.

Soon, the competition rules were announced: matches would be based on rankings during the advancement process.

As a result, Zhuang Huaiya’s opponent was Lin Qingzhou, while the girl from the abilities department would face David.

The command department students felt disappointed; they had hoped Zhuang Huaiya might draw the abilities girl and make it to the finals.

However, since Zhuang Huaiya’s performance had already exceeded their expectations, everyone wasn’t too disappointed and quickly began discussing how long he could hold out against Lin Qingzhou.

Mai Dongzi heard Tony say to the elite students, “Huaya facing someone like Lin Qingzhou is great for his training.”

This statement was then interpreted by the command department students as: it would be perfect for Zhuang Huaiya to lose to Lin Qingzhou, a fitting conclusion.

Watching the self-satisfied elite first-year students from the command department, Mai Dongzi was speechless.

Zhuang Huaiya was not disheartened by Lin Qingzhou’s strength; instead, he was eager to see just how strong this opponent was.

Lin Qingzhou was quite famous among first-year students, mainly known for his indifference, earning him the nickname “the Iceberg.”

“I’ve seen your videos. You’ve improved a lot under your captain’s training. You’re quite impressive,” Lin Qingzhou said.

“Ah!” Zhuang Huaiya didn’t expect the Iceberg to talk to him for so long.

“So I won’t go easy on you. I want to see what kind of person she has trained.”
