Chapter 104 - The Competition 12
After Yu Lan’s match, the first round of the preliminary competition ended, and Zhuang Huiya would not participate in the second round of the preliminaries until five days later.
“Captain, can you give me special training these days?” Zhuang Huiya proactively requested.
His cultivation level had risen too quickly, and his state of mind and combat power couldn’t keep up. He needed proper training to catch up.
Since Mei Dongzi had been generous enough to give him the new type of energy medicine yesterday, Zhuang Huiya’s mentor suggested he ask Mei Dongzi if she would be willing to provide him with special training for a few days.
Wang Yiyi and the other three felt that Zhuang Huiya was being too bold to make such a request to their captain. They didn’t realize that although Zhuang Huiya appeared shy, he was actually very confident.
Mei Dongzi couldn’t openly acknowledge this favor in front of others, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t give him special care. Zhuang Huiya’s request was reasonable, so she agreed without hesitation.
During the tournament, all classes were suspended, and she planned to sacrifice her own training time to provide Zhuang Huiya with four days of intensive training.
Hearing Mei Dongzi’s immediate agreement, Wang Yiyi was able to keep calm, though he regretted not thinking of this request himself. Yu Lan, however, quickly made the same request.
Mei Dongzi was already making an effort to train them each night, and such a request was not something she could agree to.
After being refused, Yu Lan looked at Zhuang Huiya with envy and jealousy, but the cousins ignored her.
Mei Dongzi was strict with Zhuang Huiya during the four days of special training. Zhuang Huiya slept in the treatment chamber every night, which also caused Mei Dongzi to spend all day and night in the training room.
Although Yu Lan and the others didn’t know what Zhuang Huiya had learned, they could see from his increasingly strong aura each day that his combat power was rapidly increasing.
What Yu Lan and the others didn’t know was that the seemingly poor Zhuang Huiya had been drinking a new type of energy medicine every night during these four days, which was why his aura had grown so much.
As for Zhuang’s uncle, after his sister suddenly disappeared, he felt a responsibility to look after his niece. However, after being looked down upon by the Xi family, Zhuang’s uncle’s business failed. With no money and knowing that his niece was doing well, he followed the Xi family matriarch’s warning and stayed away from her.
A few months ago, when the scandal about the fake and real heiresses exploded online, Zhuang’s uncle realized that the niece he had been dealing with was an impostor.
But even though he felt heartache for the swapped niece, Zhuang’s uncle, from a family that couldn’t even afford his son’s tuition, found himself unable to help her.
Later, when Zhuang’s uncle learned that his niece had redeemed herself and cleared her name, he sighed with relief. He kept this matter to himself and decided not to tell the two elderly people in his family.
He did not plan to acknowledge his niece publicly, as he felt he could not offer her any support. Recognizing her would only make it harder for her to hold her head up in front of the Xi family.
Zhuang’s uncle was completely taken by surprise when money unexpectedly came in. After discovering her true identity, his niece not only did not hold any resentment towards them but also investigated the deceitful Zhuang couple and demanded compensation.
Receiving such a large sum of credit coins was undoubtedly a joy, but Zhuang’s uncle was also worried that the Xi family might see his niece’s actions as ingratitude and despise her for it.
It wasn’t until Zhuang’s niece’s guards explained the situation to him that Zhuang’s uncle finally felt relieved.
After receiving the five hundred million credit coins, Zhuang’s uncle intended to transfer four hundred million of them to his niece, keeping only one hundred million for himself, which was more than enough for them to live comfortably.
However, not only did his niece refuse to accept the money, but she also discreetly helped Huiya during school. Zhuang’s uncle immediately informed his son about the situation.
When his son mentioned that his niece was providing special training and that Huiya was using extremely expensive energy potions, Zhuang’s uncle promptly transferred a large sum of credit coins to his son, instructing him to follow his cousin’s arrangements.
Seeing the trust the Zhuang family placed in her, Mai Dongzi decided to put extra effort into training Huiya. Otherwise, she would have only provided basic care for her cousin without such dedication.
After four days of intensive training, Huiya’s cultivation became stable, and he appeared more confident and composed.
However, others couldn’t gauge the extent of the improvement in Huiya’s overall combat capability under Mai Dongzi’s guidance.
It wasn’t until after the third round of preliminary matches, where Huiya advanced to the knockout stage with two wins and one loss, that people realized how dramatically his combat strength had improved in just four days.
Instructor Fang originally thought that only Wang Yiyi from the first-year Command Department students might advance to the knockout stage. He was pleasantly surprised to find that another student, Zhuang Huiya, had also made it.
After Zhuang Huiya won his second match relatively easily against a Level 4 early-stage opponent, Wang Yiyi privately approached Mai Dongzi, asking if she could also provide her with special training for a few days. The young girl did not expect to get a free service and mentioned that there would be a fee.
Mai Dongzi naturally refused, explaining that she had only put in extra effort for her cousin, Zhuang Huiya, because of her commitment to Lucy, which had delayed her own training.
However, she didn’t completely dismiss the request and spent an hour correcting Wang Yiyi’s weaknesses in combat during a sparring session.
What Mai Dongzi didn’t anticipate was that her special care for Zhuang Huiya had caught the attention of some interested parties.
Busy with training and studies, Mai Dongzi was unaware that a rumor was quietly spreading among the Command Department and quickly gaining traction.
The dissemination of this rumor was quite peculiar, and it reached even the busy Vice Admiral Chen.
Due to his intense workload, Vice Admiral Chen was intrigued by the rumor and ended up sharing it with Prince Arthur, his natural gossip partner.
“I thought little Lucy was so composed, but it turns out she’s just like any other girl. She said she would focus on her training, yet within half a year, she’s already in a relationship,” Vice Admiral Chen remarked with a nostalgic tone, reminiscing about the carefree days.
Vice Admiral Chen didn’t think there was anything wrong with Lucy being in a relationship; after all, she was of legal age.
He recalled that when they were in college, it was normal to be curious about the opposite sex and pursue someone if you were interested.
Although Lucy might not be a perfect ten in beauty, she was at least a solid seven. Given her considerable talent for cultivation, it was natural for her to have many admirers.
Vice Admiral Chen, who was reminiscing about his youthful days, didn’t expect that his comment would make Prince Arthur, who was having a meal, suddenly look up at him with such intense anger that it made Chen’s hair stand on end. He barely managed to hold his ground without taking a step back.
