Chapter 11: Chapter 11
I ran to the kitchen, where I tried to catch my breath. He has a girlfriend and still wants to get down with me. How could he do this to me? I placed my hand on my chest area, where my heart was racing vigorously.
Maya! Wait? Did she suspect anything? She warned me, but I refused to listen. No matter how hard I try to avoid him, he keeps coming close. He keeps coming close to me, confusing me even more.
I heaved a sigh, only to turn and see Ms. Maya behind me. She folded her arms across her chest and said, "I thought I warned you."
A small smile crossed my face. "Warned me about what? Nothing is wrong with me, so what are you talking about?" I tried to act gullible, but she gave me a stern look.
"You never listen; that's my problem with you. Have you forgotten what actually brought you here? Have you?" she asked, and I shrugged.
"There's nothing you should be worried about. If it's about Nicholas, then nothing happened," I assured her.
She shrugged. "Okay, then. I just want you to know that he isn't someone you'd want to hang around. Do your job and leave the space he stays in."
I nodded. "Noted."
She didn't ask more questions, but I was so sure she was aware that something happened, but didn't know what. If only she knew that I was in bed with him, I'm a disgrace. I allowed my stupid emotions to get the best of me. I feel like a fool now because Nicholas will think he has an effect on me.
I thought I was that same hard girl, but when he touches me, I don't remember all those rules I set for myself.
"Come help me make lunch. His girlfriend would like something to eat," Ms. Maya said.
"Oh, okay," I said and went over to join her in preparing something for Lucia.
"For how long have they been together?" I asked.
She gave me a look. "Why? Do you feel jealous?"
I shook my head. "No, it's not that. I just want to know, that's all. Is it bad that I asked?"
She shook her head and smiled. "I wanted to know your intention. You were never so concerned about anyone of them before, but the fact that you are asking about this one makes me wonder if there's something involved."
I shrugged. "Does it make me wrong for asking? It's only a harmless question. You don't need to think too hard about it."
She heaved a sigh. "I'm sorry if what I said makes you angry. It's just I want you to be safe, that's all. I know Sir Nicholas so well. You aren't the first girl he's trying to lure."
"He is good at making girls like him. I don't want you to be a victim," she said, and I knew she meant what she said.
I had to turn to answer her. "I've told you, stop worrying about me. I'm going to be fine. Nothing is going on between Adrian and me. If there's anything I want, that is to be free from this place. I want to leave this place immediately."
"I feel like I'm suffocating, and it's not helping me at all," I cried out.
She came over to hug me. "Just know that I'll always be here for you if you need me. Always remember that you have me at all times."
"If you feel confused about certain things and need clarity, talk to me. I'm scared for you. You are such a sweet girl and can be easily swayed," she said, and she was right. I hate that she was right.
My heart is currently breaking. I'm jealous of seeing that Nicholas has another girl. Yes, I'm jealous, and I don't want Ms. Maya to know.
She warned me beforehand, but it's too late now. My heart always beats when it comes to Nicholas. He has that effect on me, and it scares me.
"Just remember that you have me," she said with a concerned look on her face.
I nodded. "Thanks for always standing by me."
We went back to work. We prepared what Nicholas' visitor wanted. Ms. Maya insisted that I should take it. Even though I told her to let me be in the kitchen and finish up the things there while she takes it, she made me take it.
How am I going to react? What would Nicholas say to me? I'm sure he's going to be the same rude Nicholas that everyone used to know.
I sucked it up and went ahead to drop the food on the table. They were in the living room, and that meant I had to inform them that their food was ready.
I went ahead to do just that. Nicholas had his arms wrapped around her as they sat on the couch. I mentally rolled my eyes. He is a manwhore after all. What do I expect from him in the first place? He can't change for me; I'm just a worthless maid, and that's how it's going to be.
"The food is ready," I said in my soft yet calm voice.
They both stared at me and then looked away. No one even answered me. I guess that's how it usually is. They don't respond to the maid.
I turned my back to leave, but his girlfriend stopped me. "Hey you!"
I paused and turned. "Are you talking to me?"
She nodded and looked smug. "What? I can't talk to you?"
"Elsa is the name," I corrected.
She scoffed and moved away from Nicholas so she could give me her attention. "I don't care what your name is. I can call you whatever I feel like calling you."
I rolled my eyes. She got up, looking disbelieving. "Did you just roll your eyes at me?"
I shrugged and folded my arms. I couldn't stand her. Nicholas saw that as the best time to interfere.
"Apologize right this minute," he growled at me.
"But she started..." I said.
"Apologize!" he snapped at me, cutting me off.
