Chapter 5: Cruel Reality
Clearly, it was that man’s fault for just disappearing into thin air.
I stabbed my finger, and Sinwoo moved to the opposite end of the sofa to avoid my gesticulations.
“You usually hate clingy stuff. But it’s surprising to see you get all worked up. What was so special about that Alpha?”
“Huh? You want to hear?”
Although the man was the worst for disappearing, the sex was the best. I was ready to start describing his admirable size, shape, and stamina, but as soon as I mentioned that his dick was very very incredibly large, Sinwoo grimaced.
“...Enough. I don’t want to hear about another guy’s dick.”
“His was definitely bigger than yours.”
“Hey! How would you know my size!?”
“I’ve seen it in the bathroom.”
“That’s because it wasn’t erect!”
Park Sinwoo, now arguing vociferously that his penis wasn’t small, was the same person who had just told me to keep my voice down.
It’s often embarrassing that Sinwoo is my friend.
He finally shut his mouth with a gasp, seemingly embarrassed at last. It looks like he’s finally catching on. Tsk.
He was glaring at me, grumbling for no good reason.
“Maybe you liked the sex, but he didn’t?”
I responded confidently.
“There hasn’t been a single Alpha who hasn’t fallen for me after sleeping with me. And why would he have climaxed several times if he hadn’t enjoyed it?”
“Still, you got ghosted, right?”
I had nothing to say when Sinwoo used the word ‘ghosted.’
I, Yun Lee, have ghosted countless Alphas, but have never ‘been ghosted’ by one!
Denying the cruel reality, I even attempted to find the man during my last day at the hotel.
I even asked the employees at reception, but of course, they politely refused to divulge any personal information.
On the off chance I had contracted an STD, I even went to a specialty clinic to get tested, intending to use it as an excuse to track him down.
Fortunately or unfortunately, I was completely clean--no STDs, no pregnancy.
It only reaffirmed that he was the perfect man, at least for during that one wonderful night.
“I remember his name was Choi... something.”
“There are at least a few million Chois in South Korea. My mom is also a Choi.”
“I remember his face, and I definitely have his pheromones memorized, so I’d recognize him immediately if we ever crossed paths... Hmm.”
It was frustrating having ambiguous clues but no definite way to reach him. It was no longer just about meeting up again for sex; this was a matter of pride.
I’d be the one to ditch an Alpha, not the other way around! I’ll hook up with you one more time, and this time, I’ll be the one to leave you behind.
While I was making this resolution, a student walked into the lounge.
“Huh? Hi Sinwoo, Hi Yun Lee! I thought you’d be in the library since exams start next week.”
It was Kim Daeun, a third-year student like ourselves. Sinwoo and I were veterans who finished our mandatory military service, so naturally, we were older than her.
(*Translator comments : Korean men usually spend two years in the military during their early-mid 20s. So if you’re a veteran, even if you’re in the same grade, you’re likely to have entered college first.)
With the haggard face of a college student right before exams, Daeun inserted coins into the coffee machine. Sinwoo, grinning, waved at her.
“Study is supposed to take place during class hours.”
“You guys are lucky you don’t have to study.”
Daeun shrugged her shoulders with a genuinely envious expression.
Sinwoo was an individual that many people normally would call ‘born with a silver spoon in his mouth.’
If he graduates without being expelled, a position in his father’s company is guaranteed.
Similar to Sinwoo, I also didn’t have to worry about getting a job thanks to my parents’ inheritance and insurance money.
“Sinwoo, do you think there’s a place for me in your company?”
“You really want to keep seeing my face even after graduating college?”
“...Oh, now that I think about it, absolutely not.”
They giggled and bantered while I yawned, but then I received a message.
[Yun Lee, HRU?]
It was from Kwon Jongsuk, an Alpha who often enjoyed one-night stands with me. I typed back disinterestedly.
[Finals.]
[You’re not studying, anyway. Wanna hang out?]
[Test results.]
[Picky boy.]
Despite his grumbling, Jongsuk sent a photo of an STD test result dated yesterday.
I have a strict rule when it comes to healthy sexual practices - I absolutely do not sleep with anyone who has an STD.
[RU free this evening?]
[Ye]
[I’ll book a room at the hotel, as usual.]
I was about to reply with ‘cool’ when I suddenly felt queasy. My body shivered as if I had a chill, and I felt nauseous as if I was going to throw up. A bizarre ringing in my ears overwhelmed me, and an intense feeling of repulsion washed over me.
I resisted the urge to vomit and forced myself to set a time for our meeting. Even that short action left my back drenched in cold sweat.
