Before the Show
I shivered, knowing that I was going to be a spectacle tonight. I was going to be gathering a lot of attention because of the random roll when I first created my character. This world felt like it was breathing with life at this rate and that the characters in it had minds of their own. That being said, there were also times when they seemed completely robotic, although that was much rarer.
There was no more time to think about interactions with the NPCs as we entered a massive Banquet hall. There was no way the tower could hold something like this, but it was clearly here. I knew instantly that some spacial magic was at work, and I could see the subtle signs of a Permanent ward in the walls as I looked around. The sheer amount of wealth in my vision now was massive, and people were all about, "LADY GREENCLOAK and Guest~!" A voice suddenly announced, and some people turned while others continued to talk.
Lady Greencloak lightly pushed me forward, and I stepped in, wagging my ass a little. Men, Women, and I guess Futanari were all around the banquet hall, but not all were standing. Some were sitting on couches and enjoying conversations. There was a massive stage to one wide that everyone had a view of as I noticed the Terrance-like steps that everything faced towards it. I decided that the banquet hall needed to be quite right when so many levels were rising to look over to the stage. Instead, this was a massive theatre for those with a way too much fucking money. The amount of wasted space in the building was staggering.
"SIR TEALHORSE and Guest~!" Another announcement came out as I put my hand into Lady Greencloak's arm so that we could see each other. We went deeper, and Lady Greencloak took some food off a table quickly and fed it to me. It was something that tasted like strawberries, and it flooded my mouth, temporarily distracting me from the events around me.
"We are slightly early to the party. More gentlemen and ladies will be coming, and the show will start after. I will be leading you up to the stage, and once everyone shows off their object, find, or like yourself, unique person and goods, the party will start, and we all share. That is where you need to be on your best behavior and do your best." Lady Greencloak told me, and I shivered at what share meant in that sentence.
There was something unique about my race, though, and it was true. The people around me were all powerful people. They were strong. Some of the men had robust bodies that signaled their strength, as did some of the women in sight. There were others who looked more scholarly, and maybe they could be mages. Whatever they were, they had at least powerful family connections, and their semen entering me would help me level up.
I took a piece of fresh fruit on the table, and the flavor washed over me—it tasted a little different from a mango. I smiled a little, and I heard another announcement of someone arriving. One thing I noticed, though, was that all men were Sirs, while the women were Lady. "Is there no titles?" I asked curiously as we moved to an empty sitting area a couple of terraces up.
Lady Greencloak grabbed a plate from someone and then handed me a glass of something that bubbled in the water. "Yes, Lady Yancy, Lady Greencloak, Sir Tealhorse, and many, many others. We are all replaceable. The title of Lady or Sir can be passed down to our children, but they can just as easily lose it to someone if they drop out of favor."
That was ruthless, I could already see, and I took a sip of the drink in my hand. Flavor blossomed with peach and mango delight. It bubbled funnily on my tongue, unlike pop, and I smiled. "This world you are a part of is where everything happens, and this is the world where one misstep can have you and your faction killed. The strength here is from those you are with. We are not a weak faction, but neither are we the strongest."
"Lady Greencloak," I suddenly heard a male voice come up, and I was surprised to see a horned man with a sharp smile. It has been too long since I have seen you. I think the last party?" he asked.
"Ah, Sir Redepths, it's a pleasure to see you," Lady Greencloak replied with a large smile. "You always have such great taste. The timepiece that the gnome made that you found was truly a work of art. It's so sad that they could never make another."
"It is a shame," Sir Redepths replied with a shake of his head, "The knowledge lost when they got in the accident that made it was something that will take decades, if not centuries, to recover. The loss of a Grandmaster let alone just as they break through into Guru, is just a travesty."
"That it is," Lady Greencloak replied mournfully. They both were silent for a moment before Lady Greencloak continued, "So, I do not see a guest with you, so I cannot help but be curious about what you brought this year."
"Oh, no spoiling from me Unless you want to tell me what is up with this little treat," Sir Redepths teased.
"You have me, but I need to talk to this one so that they are ready for what is to come," Lady Greencloak told him, and he nodded.
"I don't want what happened to Blankheart; it's a shame she lost her title," Sir Redepths replied before walking away.
"That devil is someone very influential around here; he is someone that you want to please if he seeks you out later. A very good lover but very diabolical. We are allies at this time, but his Faction is heavily affiliated with the demons as a Devil himself."
"Understood," I replied, feeling weird. As Mistress's disciple, I was heavily affiliated with the Demons.
Lady Greencloak relaxed, "Also notice the seating?" She asked.
"Nope, what about it?"
"Those on the higher terrace are in a superior position, but they can also easily fall. This is the day that we learn about that. The place is almost full, and the time for the host will come soon," Lady Greencloak said. Suddenly, a tiny red woman walked up to us holding a leash. Whatever that leash was attached to was in a box, and the woman smiled.
"Hello. It seems I am with you today, Lady Greencloak. I am looking forward to presenting. I assume this is your little treat from your faction?" the woman said.
"Yes, Lady Gearspoke, they are. But you will have to wait till my turn to learn," Lady Greencloak countered when suddenly the lights in the room dimmed.
"SIRS AND LADIES~! LET THE SHOW BEGIN~! PLEASE SIT DOWN~!" The voice boomed, and people moved towards their seats. I gulped, knowing the show-and-tell session was about to begin.
