City of Lilith, Devil Territory, Underworld

.

The capital city of the Underworld was filled to the brim with devils. Its prosperity in the past few months had reached new heights. The whole reason for this was because of the newly established centre for Evil Piece modification.

The place was crowded with devils coming and going. Guards worked to keep everything in order as numerous Reincarnated Devils came over to book a session to have their pieces modified by the one and only, Aurelia von Drachenburg.

The Aryan had become a very influential figure during these past few months. She not only used her clones to modify Evil Pieces, but she also taught classes on how to modify them. Aside from scientists who worked under Ajuka, many influential figures paid exorbitant prices and resources just for a chance to be personally tutored by her.

It was not wrong to say her popularity and influence was growing. Her fame was already on the same level as the satans. She was loved by the people and numerous devils were indebted to her. She may not be a devil, but the respect she received was no less than the head of a clan.

Right now, Aurelia was hard at work teaching a class of devils the intricacies of the Evil Piece and how to modify it using her seal. Noble or scientist, they all listened with rapt attention.

At the same time, hundreds of her clones were working alongside Ajuka to modify the pieces of those who applied for the initial phase.

Behind her was a large screen showing a large complicated diagram of a magic circle. In her hand was a pointing stick she used to highlight areas of importance.

"Remember, you have to be careful of these several matrices here, here, and here. You cannot modify them unless you've removed these six linkages from this octagonal bond. Once you've done so, you can link your demonic energy to the octagonal bond and begin making the necessary changes. And this brings us to the end of this morning's lesson."

*RIIIIIIING!*

"{Please note. All trainees are to report to Room 409 for today's live demonstration. Please note. All trainees are to report to Room 409 for today's live demonstration.}

"You are free to leave, everyone. Take care to properly observe the procedure silently. Any questions will be answered in the next class."

"""Thank you, Lady Aurelia."""

The group of devils left the classroom one after the other, leaving Aurelia alone. Once they all left, she hunched over and placed her hands on the table.

Sigh…

It was only around mid-afternoon, yet she felt the fatigue creep up on her. It wasn't just the fatigue from today, but from the past several months.

Every single day, she had to not only train class after class, but also process a day's worth of information from hundreds of clones. It was fine the first few weeks she did it, but it became more and more tiring as the months went by.

What was more tiring was hiding all of this from Igor. He worried too much about her and if he truly found out about her workload, he would no doubt put a stop to everything.

It warmed her heart how he cared for her, but what she was doing was a necessary step for her goal…her dream.

"Whuuuu…"

Another deep breath escaped her throat as she sat down. She was glad she wore a simple white shirt and a skirt today. Lord knows the breeze from the air conditioner was doing wonders for her.

She sat in silence at her desk and stared out the window. Her hair flew gently swayed from the wind coming in through the window. Her ethereal beauty sparkled in that moment, giving off an air of mystery.

Her eyes were listless, her soft lips pursed in thought…before they slowly spread into a gentle smile.

"I wonder what he's doing…"

Whenever she thought of her blonde, a smile would sprout on her face, especially when she knew she'd see him again tonight. It was one of the few things to look forward to in her day, perhaps the only thing.

[I wonder how far Shuri-sama will get this time.]

Over the months, it had become somewhat amusing to watch Shuri try her subtle seduction tactics. She'd initially held some apprehension, but it soon became clear Igor wasn't someone you gave signs. Just like how he was straightforward with her that night, Shuri would have to be straightforward if she wanted Igor to notice her.

Unfortunately, Aurelia promised not to interfere. So Shuri was left on her own.

[In two weeks, we'll go to the pool. Perhaps she might make Igor take a few more glances, but that's it.]

Aurelia knew Igor's character very well by now. It was why she could leave them alone with complete and utter peace of mind.

Shuri's tactics may indeed make Igor see her as a woman, he'd see her more as a sister-figure. Perhaps it was evil for Aurelia to think of this, but she was curious in seeing how far Shuri would dig herself into this pit.

[Igor will leave in June. Perhaps this will give me enough time to truly organise my thoughts.]

Aurelia held no hope Shuri would forget Igor even if he disappeared for three years. He'd done too much for her that his impression has been left deep within her heart and soul. It was to the point Aurelia would feel like an evil person if she stopped Shuri from trying to pursue to object of her affections.

Of course, this didn't make the process of acceptance that much easier. Currently, Aurelia thought of matters from a political perspective. The knowledge any child Igor fathers would receive protection from the Hindu and Shinto Pantheon was a very large benefit that might possibly extend to all Aryans.

And from what she'd gleaned, Amaterasu was subtly pushing for a union between Igor and Shuri. If Shuri birthed Igor a child, he would further be linked to the Shinto Pantheon.

It was inevitable. A man of power would become a central pillar many would wish to lean upon. There was no shortage of clans in the Underworld who were willing to offer their daughters to Igor just for a chance to hug his thigh.

As for having the young men approach her for marriage? No one was stupid. Aurelia most likely wouldn't kill anyone who wanted to be Igor's concubine, but Igor would undoubtedly kill anyone who offered to be her husband.

It was simply a difference in their temperaments. Aurelia might tear the letters but Igor would tear heads.

Naturally, none of these devils were worth it. They'd have to be at Serafall's level just to even be considered. Shuri wasn't yet at the realm of God Class, but the Vermillion Bird inside her propelled her strength to that level.

Having the Vermillion Bird's approval signified her as the contemporary leader of the Himejima Clan. She was also Amaterasu's priestess and had very high potential for growth.

In the eyes of many, she'd pair very well with Igor who's this generation's shining star. His strength and connections made him a person many wanted to associate with.

Sigh…

She didn't want to think of these matters. Whether Shuri won his approval or got denied, she wouldn't interfere.

[What do the English say? Enjoy the show?]

Maybe the show would have a good or happy ending, but she'd enjoy the show nonetheless.

[I wish I was there--?!]

All of a sudden, she sensed someone trying to lock on to her energy signature. There was only one person in the world she knew who could do that.

[Now?]

There was no time to think. She quickly used a seal to mask her dwindling mana reserves. At the same time, she used some of her mana to rejuvenate herself and hide all traces of fatigue and stress--

Tswii!

He appeared in front of her in an instant. He held two ice-creams in his hand, one of them already licked.

"Hey Aurelia. I…"

Igor's smile faded in place of a budding frown. His eyes snapped open and instantly, he moved in front of her.

*Splotch* *Splotch*

The two ice-creams he held fell to the floor. What replaced the emptiness in his hands were her cheeks he quickly, yet gently cupped.

"..."

*Flush~*

If she were coherent, Aurelia would definitely berate herself for losing her composure so quickly. She could feel her cheeks colouring in real-time, but she couldn't help it. His gaze was too intense!

"M-my lord. What are you--"

"You're tired. I can see it in your eyes."

It was a statement. The moment Igor entered the room, she'd stopped channelling her mana. What she never expected was he'd still pick up the last few traces of fatigue she'd tried to hide.

"How many clones do you have active?"

"...five-hundred and forty-seven."

She did not dare harbour thoughts of lying. It was better to be scolded than lose his trust.

"Dispel all of them. I'm taking you home."

"But--"

"You are tired, Aurelia. Have your clones finish their current sessions within the next fifteen minutes. After that, let them dispel themselves. Until I leave for Mount Kailasa, you are not allowed to work."

Big Daddy Igor excercising his authority, a scenario our dearest Aurelia feared. The big guy isn't taking no for an answer.

On another side, I'm impressed by Aurelia's work ethic. If she was a devil, there's no doubt there'd be voices calling for her to become a satan. Her strength certainly allows it.
