Chapter 289: Do You Regret Your Decision Now?
Bang!
Fyre and Hyzi were slammed into the ground.
Their bodies were filled with wounds, and blood turned the color of their skin red.
But despite being in such a battered state, they still wore joyful expressions because as long as the fight gave them the thrill they wanted, they didn't mind dying at their opponent's hands.
After all, they were from proud races, so dying on the battlefield was the most honorable end they could ask for.
"Hyzi, she is so damn strong!" Fyre praised Lyria. "It seems like we will die at her hands soon."
"Well, she gave me an exciting fight, so I'm fine dying at her hands." They had fought fairly, so Hyzi accepted the outcome of their fight.
"You are right. Haha." Fyre laughed loudly. "Dying on the battlefield at the hands of a strong enemy, isn't this the best ending we could ask for?"
"Well, let's attack her for the last time." Hyzi forced himself to stand up.
"Yeah." Fyre rose to his feet, too.
"You damn beast, you can die now." Right after Lyria's voice faded, half of the petals around her turned into two big swords and flew toward them at an incredible speed.
"Haha! What a great way to die!" Fyre and Hyzi rushed toward the blossom swords bravely.
But before their attacks collided, Velmira appeared before them and destroyed the blossom swords.
*Fwhoosh…
The blossom swords shattered into countless petals and flew back to Lyria, floating around her.
Fyre and Hyzi were shocked by her sudden appearance and came to an immediate halt.
'Velmira?'
They didn't know about Xavienna's disguise, so they thought she would not join the war.
Like Fyre and Hyzi, Lyria was also stunned.
However, her surprised expression instantly turned to anger, because Fyre and Hyzi would have died if Velmira hadn't interfered in their fight.
'Who is she?'
She was focused on facing Fyre and Hyzi, so she didn't know about their arrival on the battlefield.
"You two are still needed to build the kingdom, so you can't die yet." it was not easy to get 4-star underlings, so Velmira didn't allow them to throw their lives away for nothing.
"Why are you here?" Hyzi asked.
"Did you agree to become Boss' follower?" Fyre added.
"I thought building a kingdom for magical beasts isn't a bad idea," Velmira replied. "And I won't be his follower, but I will be the Queen who stands beside him and rule the kingdom with him."
When Fyre was about to say something, Lyria's cold voice reached their ears. "Who are you?"
Velmira shifted her gaze to Lyria and answered playfully. "Let's just say I'm their queen."
"Since you want to die with them, then I will grant your wish." Their disciples were at a disadvantage, so Lyria wanted to end the fight quickly.
Velmira's playful giggle echoed through the air as she gracefully dodged the petals flying toward her.
As she flew to avoid the attack, clones began emerging from her body one after another. In just a matter of seconds, ten clones appeared and they all rushed toward her.
The countless petals surrounding Lyria shot toward the clones, and one by one, Velmira's clones vanished into nothingness.
When Lyria thought she had dealt with her, Velmira emerged from behind her and circled around playfully, brushing her fingers across her face with a smile.
The moment their gaze met, Lyria's eyes turned red and she became Velmira's servant instantly.
"Your magic is not bad. I believe it will serve well in killing the disciples of your organization." Velmira didn't want to dirty her hands, so she decided to use Lyria. "Go. You know exactly what to do, don't you?"
"Understood, my queen." Lyria flew around the battlefield and shot every single Misty Palace disciple she saw with her petals.
"Aaaggghhh…"
"Aaaggghhh…"
"Aaaggghhh…"
Screams of agony echoed throughout every part of the battlefield.
Lyria was one of the strongest mages in Misty Palace, so none of the disciples could stop her.
"Hyzi, what should we do now?" Fyre didn't know what to do anymore because their enemy had left them.
"I don't know." Hyzi shook his head.
"Don't do anything stupid again. You are his follower, so you must not die before he succeeds in achieving his dream." Without waiting for their response, Velmira flew to her subordinates, leaving the duo stunned.
"So, who is the winner of our bet?" Fyre asked.
"Let's drink health potions first." Hyzi replied. "After that, we will resume our bet, but we will change the target."
"Sure." Fyre agreed instantly.
After drinking health potions, they skimmed their surroundings.
While the duo looked for a powerful enemy, high in the sky, Ren was facing Ravena and Aurelia at once.
Even though it was two versus one, he still had the upper hand in the fight.
Sure, he could only attack them with fire breath, fireball, and raw strength.
But with the help of his nearly impenetrable scales and limbs that could crush bones like twigs, the fight was under his control.
"This is the end for you." Ren unleashed a powerful breath of flame from his mouth.
Ravena, who could not dodge the attack, quickly cast a stone shield that enclosed her completely, forming a solid sphere around her.
However, his flame was not an ordinary one.
Shortly after his flame hit it, the stone shield began to melt into molten liquid, exposing her defenseless form within it.
Realizing she was in danger, Ravena's expression turned to panic.
She tried to cast another stone spell, but before the magic could take form, Ren had already closed the distance and attacked her again.
*Thrust…
Ren's sharp tail stabbed into her body and pierced through her back.
Ravena didn't die instantly and coughed up blood.
Some of her blood splattered onto his tail, while the rest dropped to the ground beneath her.
Since she knew that she would die soon, she grabbed his tail and grinned evilly. "Damn beast, I will drag you to the underworld with me."
[Host, she is about to blow herself up!]
Upon hearing the system's warning, Ren kicked her stomach as hard as he could.
Ravena had been clutching his tail with all her strength, but his kick was too strong, so her grip slipped, and she was sent flying.
Boom!
Her body exploded in mid-air.
"Master!" Aurelia screamed with a sad expression.
"It's your turn now." After saying that, Ren flew toward Aurelia.
Maybe it was because she could no longer focus on the fight, or perhaps Ravena's death had shaken her deeply but at that moment, Ren found it easier to land his blows on her.
She even could not fight back like before as if she were no longer the Aurelia he had faced earlier.
Boom!
Blood splashed out of her mouth as her body was slammed into the ground.
Even though he knew she was Evelyn's master, Ren didn't show mercy and attacked her continuously.
As he beat her mercilessly, the Misty Palace disciples' screams of agony echoed in every part of the battlefield.
With Lyria under Velmira's control, they were nothing more than helpless prey waiting to be slaughtered because no one could help them now.
"Aaaggghhh…"
"Aaaggghhh…"
"Aaaggghhh…"
Ren's subordinates laughed happily as they slaughtered their enemies mercilessly.
They hated humans to the bone, so their hearts leaped up for joy every time they killed the disciples of Misty Palace.
Some of them even shouted while lifting the corpses of their enemies, as if they were raising their trophies.
Bang!
Ren hit Aurelia's stomach hard.
As her body was sent flying into the sky, Ren flew up, catching her in mid-air and grabbing her head.
"Aurelia, did you hear it? That is the screams of your people." Ren didn't kill her right away because he wanted to show her the result of her decision.
Aurelia glanced at the disciples of her organization.
Every time she saw a single disciple killed by a magical beast, she felt like someone had squeezed her heart hard.
However, she could not do anything about it because she was at Ren's mercy.
'How did it end up like this?'
She previously believed they would win the war, so watching them die hurt her deeply.
"Everything would have been different if you had handed her over to me," Ren said. "So, do you regret your decision now?"
When Ren was about to say something again, a voice suddenly rang out. "Stop! Stop the war now!"
Ren turned his head toward the source of the sound.
'Evelyn?'
