Chapter 283: He Is a Powerful Dragon!
Instead of answering Ren's question immediately, Velmira threw a question at the four kings. "What made you follow him?"
"He promised me a life full of exciting adventures!"
"I lost to him."
"I like his big ambition!"
"I lost in a running match."
Hyzi and the others gave an honest answer.
"Velmira, don't you want to secure a good place for yourself on the Vlizica continent?" Ren tried to persuade her. "All the good places are monopolized by humans, while we can only live in the forest or remote places. Don't you think it's unfair for us?"
He then continued, "I'm going to attack Misty Palace. After we conquer them, we will seize their territory and build a kingdom for ourselves. I want to show the world that we also deserve a rightful place on this continent."
Ren was so passionate about his acting that it seemed like building a magical beast kingdom had been his lifelong dream.
"Oh? You want to create a kingdom for magical beasts?" Velmira didn't know his real intention in attacking Misty Palace because his acting looked very convincing as if he was not lying.
"That's right." Ren replied. "I'm going to create the first magical beast kingdom on this continent, one that's famous, feared, and unmatched in strength."
He then continued, "So, what do you say, Velmira? Do you want to build this kingdom with us? You will be the queen later."
Velmira shifted her gaze to Fyre again. "You, what do you think of him?"
"He is a powerful dragon!" Fyre replied.
"What about his personality?" Velmira threw another question at him.
"Well, I've only known him for three days, so I don't know him very well," Fyre responded. "But during that time, he has treated us well and has never forced us to do anything we didn't want to do."
Fyre added that Ren also never told them how they should act in his presence as if he didn't care about hierarchy at all.
For this reason, their respect for him grew stronger with each passing day because they felt less like subordinates and more like real friends.
Velmira and her two trusted subordinates turned to Ren after hearing Fyre's answer.
Even though there were good magical beasts, most of them only cared about themselves and treated their underlings like slaves.
This was the reason why they were startled because they could tell that Fyre was not lying.
"I see." Velmira uttered.
"So, what is your answer?" Ren asked.
Based on her expression while Fyre was explaining what kind of person he was, he believed she would agree to follow him.
However, her response was nothing like he expected because Velmira refused to become his follower right away.
"I refuse." Velmira replied as she absentmindedly twirled a strand of her hair between her fingers. "I like my current life, so I don't want to follow you."
"Don't you want to see human kneeling before you?" Ren tried to change her mind.
"Countless humans have knelt in front of me before." Velmira replied.
She had met countless humans in her life, and whenever she was about to kill them, they would drop to their knees and beg for their lives.
Of course, she killed them in the end because she hated humans, especially when they disturbed her or caused trouble for her.
The corner of his lips twitched.
"Silver dragon, I like your ambition, but the current you are not yet worthy of being followed by someone like me." Velmira explained the reason why she refused to join him. "Prove yourself first. If I deem you worthy, I will come to you."
Ren tried to change her mind again, but her response was still the same.
At that moment, the idea of making her submit by force popped up in his mind, but he dismissed it right away.
Since there was still a chance she might agree to follow him, he chose to leave peacefully because his system also deemed it the wiser decision.
Once they left the main hall, Velmira turned to Xavienna and said, "Xavienna, go and follow them. Disguise yourself as someone else and infiltrate his army by pretending to be one of his underlings."
She then continued, "Report to me once every three days. I want to know whether he is really as that lion described him or not."
"Understood, my Queen." Xavienna concealed her real rank and transformed into a completely different person.
Velmira's snow-white tails swayed gently as she saw her subordinate walking out of the main hall.
'Silver Dragon, everything depends on your personality and ambition.'
----
Time went by quickly and without realizing it, it had been two weeks since Ren and the others had left Velmira's territory.
At this moment, Ren was resting by the lake with his underlings. He didn't return to Nightshire City because doing so might have raised suspicion.
'I'm still short fifty thousand underlings to complete the quest.'
On his way to the inner region of Framingburns Forest, he received a quest and the mission was to gather one hundred thousand subordinates before launching the attack on Misty Palace.
Even though two weeks had passed since they left Framingburns Forest, the number of his underlings had only increased by one thousand because he only recruited magical beasts at 2-star and above.
'Hmm? Have I seen her before? Why does she feel unfamiliar?'
He immediately ordered his system to analyze the female beast who was talking with the others several meters from him.
'I see.'
His lips curled up into a grin when he knew who she was.
Xavienna's disguise might have been flawless, and she could also blend in with the others without arousing the slightest suspicion, but before his system, her efforts were meaningless because her real information was fully exposed, with nothing left hidden.
'It seems Velmira's curiosity about me is bigger than I thought.'
He checked his system again and pretended as if he knew nothing.
Once they had rested enough, they continued their journey to Misty Palace.
Like before, Ren recruited any magical beasts they encountered that were 2-star or above.
Even though some of them refused, many accepted his offer to become followers. Of course, they agreed because they had no other choice.
However, Ren didn't care about it because what mattered to him was gathering as many subordinates as possible.
As for loyalty, that could be built over time.
'Great! I already have ninety thousand subordinates. Just ten thousand more, and the quest will be complete.'
They still needed three months to reach Misty Palace, so he believed he would complete the quest before they reached their destination.
He even believed he would get more than one hundred thousand subordinates because the Sheozica region had more magical beasts than the Luvrela region.
"Boss, once we conquer Misty Palace, are we going to attack the other organizations immediately?" Fyre asked curiously.
"Misty Palace is the strongest organization in the Sheozica region. Once we conquer them, all we need to do is send a message to the other organizations and tell them to submit." Ren replied without hesitation. "If they refuse, we will destroy them until nothing remains."
"What about the kingdoms?" Fyre threw another question at him.
"The same!" Ren replied. "Submit, or face annihilation!"
"That sounds awesome, boss! I can't wait to see it happen." Fyre stated.
As they chatted happily, a territorial war was about to break out just a few hundred meters away from them.
On one side, five thousand seven hundred magical beasts stood behind a 3-star lion. On the other, six thousand gathered under the banner of a 3-star tiger.
The two forces glared at each other with fierce intensity as if the war had already begun without a single move from them.
"Draven! This battlefield will be your grave!" the 3-star tiger shouted.
"No!" the 3-star lion snapped. "It's not my end, it's yours, Raze!"
*Roar…Roar…
Both Draven and Raze let out thunderous roars as if it were a sign that war was about to erupt.
In the other place, Ren stopped walking when their roars reached his ears.
'It's the roar of tiger and lion!'
He could tell right away because their roars were different.
"Boss, it's a territorial fight or a territorial war!" Fyre's eyes shone brightly.
He was from the Golden Lion race, so he understood the meaning of the roar.
"I will check it!" without waiting for another second, Ren soared into the sky, followed closely by the four kings.
At the same time, both Draven and Raze could no longer hold themselves back. With a roar, they gave the order to strike.
"KILL THEM!" Draven roared.
"Slaughter them all!" Raze shouted.
But just as the two sides were about to collide, Ren descended from the sky like a thunderbolt.
"STOP!" Ren roared, shaking the battlefield violently.
