Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Prison Realm, Open
A bright blue light lit up the night sky.
A white-haired man raised his right hand, a wild grin on his face.
Above his palm floated a glowing blue orb, like a gravity core, pulling everything around it inward.
The random stuff on the rooftop was the first to get dragged in. Then the water tower. Even the walls near the rooftop stairs started to crack apart into bits of concrete, sucked into the shining blue orb.
"Technique Reversal: Blue!"
Gojo Satoru swung his right hand. The "Blue" around him spun out in all directions, crushing and absorbing everything it touched, growing bigger and stronger with every second.
"This move is always a pain."
Feeling the pull of the force on his body, Kenjaku still didn't look bothered. He kept a calm smile on his face.
Using Itadori Kaori's anti-gravity technique and a reversal method, he canceled out the pull from Blue, making it seem like he wasn't affected at all.
But the special grade cursed spirit born from the idea of death wasn't so lucky.
In its black mist form, it had no way to resist the huge pull of Blue. It got sucked in almost instantly.
But as soon as "death" got pulled into Blue, the glowing orb suddenly drifted out of Gojo Satoru's control and slowly started rising into the sky.
The spiral inside began to slow down. The cursed energy that had been glowing bright blue started to fade, turning pale—until it looked like a frozen wax ball hanging in the air.
Then, in less than a second, cracks shot across its surface, and it shattered with a loud crash.
Death appeared once again in Gojo Satoru's view.
But this time, it wasn't a black fog.
It finally had a real body.
Still completely black, the tall and lean figure was covered in solid muscle. Four long, sharp horns jutted out from its forehead. Six red vertical eyes were evenly spread across its face, giving it a terrifying, demon-like appearance straight out of mythology.
The moment Gojo saw its true form, he instinctively stepped back two steps. His body even started to shake a little.
He frowned.
What's going on?
Am I… afraid?
He looked down at his slightly trembling fingers. After a brief pause, he realized something.
No, that's not it.
It's my body that's afraid.
This cursed spirit represents the very idea of death. And fear of death is something built into the DNA of every living creature.
Gojo Satoru himself didn't feel scared, but his body's instincts were warning him—telling him to stay away from this enemy.
"So that's it… a natural threat to all living things," the white-haired man muttered in realization.
He clenched his fists, tensed every muscle in his body, and quickly forced his will to take control again.
A slight grin appeared on his lips. "A cursed technique based on the idea of death? Don't tell me every one of this guy's attacks can kill instantly? That would be way too much."
Still, he knew he had to avoid getting hit by that cursed technique.
He was always cocky, but not stupid. He wasn't going to test out a possibly instant-kill move with his own body.
That wouldn't be bold—that would be dumb.
"Alright then, let's go!"
Gojo's body vanished from where he stood. When he reappeared, he was already in front of the man in monk robes.
"So your target was me?" Kenjaku raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised. "Sneaky."
He quickly stepped back and waved his hand, summoning a tough cursed spirit to block the attack.
But a powerful hand instantly pierced through the cursed spirit's body and kept going, aiming right for Kenjaku's chest.
At that moment, several thin black rods shot toward Gojo from the side. They paused slightly after hitting the neutral Limitless barrier, then broke through and flew straight at him.
Gojo flipped out of the way just in time, but lost his chance to hit Kenjaku. Kenjaku managed to escape and put some distance between them.
"Damn, so close," Gojo clicked his tongue in frustration.
He looked calm on the surface, but deep down, he was fully on alert.
Those thin black rods were even stronger than the spikes from before. Limitless could only block them for a moment. If he wasn't careful, they'd hit him for real.
If that happened, he could really be in trouble. He had to take this seriously.
What a pain. He'd wanted to take out one of them first and then deal with the rest.
Kenjaku landed on the rooftop of a nearby building and smiled. "You seem kind of desperate."
"Well then, let me help speed things up a bit." Behind him, a dark ripple spread out. "Cursed Spirit Manipulation: Plague."
A massive skull rose from the black ripple, followed by several twisted, horrifying skeletal arms. They branched out like tree limbs, covered in blood, chunks of flesh, and sickly green rot that defied explanation.
The skull opened its mouth and let out a piercing screech. The sound waves spread out in all directions, visible even to the naked eye.
As the sound wave swept past Gojo Satoru, he immediately frowned.
The next second, he suddenly started coughing hard.
Covering his mouth, Gojo Satoru coughed violently. When he pulled his hand away and looked, it was stained with bright red blood.
Not only that—his whole body began to feel weak, like he had come down with a high fever.
"Putting a debuff on me, huh… you're really going all out to take me down… *cough cough*." The white-haired man forced a smile as he kept coughing.
"Of course. I take you very seriously," Kenjaku said with a calm smile, not denying anything. "Let's wrap this up. No need to waste energy trying to kill him. Just follow the plan."
"In that case, as you wish."
Death stretched out a thin, bony hand toward Gojo Satoru, then suddenly clenched it. "Death Coffin."
Four black walls appeared out of nowhere around the white-haired man, closing in like a coffin and trapping him instantly.
"Prison Realm—open."
Kenjaku smiled and tossed a chunk of flesh onto the ground—it rolled to the base of the black coffin.
The Prison Realm began shaking violently, then cracked open. Between the joined pieces of flesh, a huge, single eye opened wide, staring straight at the black coffin.
The black coffin began to bulge and flash with different colors. In the end, it couldn't hold back the attacks coming from inside and shattered all at once.
Gojo Satoru, now covered in injuries from his own cursed energy, appeared again.
He was breathing heavily. When he saw the massive eye, he froze for a moment, then instantly tried to retreat.
But a thin, dark figure appeared behind him just then, slashing toward his chest with sharp claws.
Gojo Satoru instinctively dodged to the side, but more black spikes shot out at him. His Limitless technique blocked them, but it also stopped him from backing away.
If he couldn't dodge it—then he'd destroy that creepy thing!
Reversed Technique: *Red*!
A red light flashed. A glowing dot shot toward the open Prison Realm—but a black rod stretched out from Death's fingertip and pierced right through it.
Kenjaku showed up behind Gojo Satoru as well. He activated a gravity technique, and before Gojo could react, it felt like a mountain was pressing down on him. He dropped to one knee, only staying upright thanks to the Limitless technique canceling some of the force.
This fight, plus the delay caused by the Death Coffin—
It was more than enough.
Thick pillars of flesh shot out from the Prison Realm and locked the white-haired man in place.
His eyes went wide.
He couldn't feel his cursed energy. His body wouldn't move. Was this the end?
Kenjaku tilted his head slightly and gave a knowing smile.
"Prison Realm—close."
"Good night, Gojo Satoru."
