Transformers Prime: I am Allspark

Chapter 109: The touch Part 69 // Light and Darkness Part 10

Optimus Prime sighed deeply. Talking about his past wasn't something he did often. Most of the time, he reduced events to cold, hard facts. The war, the destruction, the immeasurable losses—all were burdens he'd learned to carry alone and in silence. He needed to be strong to be the Autobot leader, which always inhibited what he was like long ago.

But now, there beneath Gaea's attentive gaze, he realized that, for the first time in a long while, he was unburdening himself.

Gaea rested her head on her hand, her eyes a blend of curiosity and introspection. She did not interrupt once. She heard every word, absorbing the Prime's story as if searching within it for some justification of the present.

A long silence settled between them, and after a while she finally spoke, her voice soft yet laden with thought.

"Curious…"

Optimus lifted his head slightly, waiting.

"What?"

"The cycle repeats. Always repeats."

"The strong oppressing the weak. Wars born of pride. Entire civilizations paying the price for leaders who refuse to change."

She sighed, closing her eyes for a moment.

"You asked me to give humanity a chance, Optimus. But tell me…" Her gaze locked onto his, as sharp as ancient blades infused with wisdom. "…if not even your own kind could break free of this cycle, why should I believe humanity will be any different?"

Optimus was silent for a moment for it was a fair question. But his answer remained the same.

"Because there is always hope."

His voice was firm, but without arrogance.

Gaea raised one eyebrow slightly, but did not interrupt.

"Yes, my people failed. We repeated our ancestors' mistakes. I allowed a brother to become a tyrant and watched our civilization crumble before my eyes." He turned his gaze downward, staring at the ground. "But I also saw Cybertronians fighting for what was right. I saw sacrifices made in the name of justice. I saw courage and compassion emerging even in the darkest moments."

He met her eyes again, conviction shining within them.

"And I see that in humanity, too."

Gaea studied him for a long moment; her eyes, which had once held only distrust and skepticism, now bore a different light.

She smiled, a smile conveying both understanding and an invisible weight.

With the grace of an ancient entity, she rose from her throne. Her golden wings, ethereal as gleaming feathers, unfurled softly, dancing in the breeze scented by the mutant flora around them, a blend of metal and organic.

Her amber eyes, bright as the setting sun, flicked for an instant to Optimus's chest.

She knew what lay beneath. She felt the pulse of the Matrix of Leadership, a relic imbued with pure energy, not just any purity, but a fragment of power asleep from its true potential.

Yet her gaze drifted beyond the walls of metal and vegetation. It was as if she saw past the bounds of her domain, straight toward an energy familiar.

Something the Matrix shared in common with that power, and from Optimus's tale she understood all too well what caused that familiar sensation: the AllSpark.

She remembered very little, but had some recollection of her Creator's form standing beside a spider‑like girl before they vanished in a flash of light.

It was merely unfortunate timing, for the moment she became conscious of her own existence, her Creator had already departed to a place far from her.

As she pieced together the fragments, she realized that the heart of Cybertronian life was on this planet. She also realized that Optimus had no idea that something so vital had been under the Autobots' and Decepticons' noses the entire time.

However, this knowledge did not completely ease her concerns. Her abilities were in constant flux, and just minutes before, she had sensed something strange on this planet. Like a heartbeat.

It was something dormant in the Earth's core that emanated a dense amount of pressure. It was a presence that made her feel nauseous, as if every fiber of her being were repelled by that energy. Yet, that dark force seemed strangely familiar. Perhaps it was simply the planet's reaction to her presence. She would investigate further.

Gaea sighed deeply, striving to ignore the malignant sensation lying dormant within the planet.

Her expression softened slightly as she looked back at Optimus. Finally, she spoke, her voice rolling out like distant thunder, imbued with power and an inescapable judgment.

"Very well, Prime. You and your kind have proven resilient, and your story… has made me see beyond the fury that burns in my heart."

Gaea extended her hand, and the vegetation around her seemed to respond to her command—both the cyber‑biological plants and those of metal trembled slightly.

"I will not continue to expand my domains. Nor will I advance the cyber‑forming of this planet… for now."

Optimus stood firm but vigilant; he knew this was only a truce, yet even achieving a peaceful resolution was a relief.

Gaea's incandescent eyes narrowed slightly, as if probing the very essence of the Autobot leader.

"I will give you time, Prime. Time to deal with and resolve this problem on the human side." Her tone, however, carried the unspoken weight that she doubted he would be very effective in convincing all humans, but for now, she would give him a chance.

Optimus nodded with determination, but before he could speak, Gaea stepped closer.

The air around him seemed to grow heavier, and when she opened her wings, the natural light that reflected off them cast imposing shadows all around her.

"But let this be clear." she said. "If humans dare set even one foot in my domain… if they threaten what now belongs to me…"

The energy around her intensified, and the ground beneath her feet cracked slightly, not from her weight but from the sheer extent of her power.

"I will not hesitate to destroy them." she made clear. It was no bluff, and she would turn that promise into reality if challenged.

A few minutes later…

As soon as Optimus crossed the line separating the cyber‑formed forest from the rest of the world, he felt a crushing weight upon his spark.

He paused for an instant, glancing over his shoulder.

The metallic creatures that had been stalking him retreated and disappeared among the tall, twisted trees. Their metal structures reflected any ambient light.

The silence was absolute. No birdsong, no wind, no ordinary life, only the forest itself breathing pure energy.

Optimus clenched his fists. This was not a victory, only a countdown; he was not naïve, and he needed to act on this false peace as quickly as possible.

He knew humans would never understand the magnitude of what was at stake. There had always been those driven by fear, by greed… by ignorance.

Optimus exhaled deeply, feeling the weight of responsibility upon his shoulders.

He raised his hand to his communicator and activated the base frequency.

"Ratchet… open the Space Bridge. Arrival coordinates confirmed."

The reply came almost immediately, and within seconds a blue‑and‑white portal swirled into existence before him, spinning like an energy vortex.

Optimus cast one last look at the forest. Then, without hesitation, he stepped forward and crossed the portal.
