Transformed into Kanna in Terra

Chapter 26: A Cake That’s Horrifyingly Made but Exquisitely Delicious – Will Any Warrior Dare to Taste It?

Just as Blue Poison turned around to focus intently on making the cake, Kanna, who was sitting on a chair, couldn't help but let her eyes wander over to the display of finished cakes nearby.

Although pastry chefs love to make their creations look gorgeous to attract attention, the primary purpose of a cake is to be eaten. Especially in Terra, wasting food is considered shameful. That's why the pastry chefs at Rhodes Island, after finishing a cake, place it on the display counter. If someone likes one, they simply take it, and by early morning someone comes to collect any excess cakes and deliver them to the operators still on duty.

At that moment, the counter was laden with cakes. However, since it wasn't yet tea time, even the most ardent dessert lovers wouldn't typically come to dine at that hour.

Seeing that no one was around and the cakes were proudly displayed, Kanna couldn't resist the temptation and leaned forward—

"Roar~!"

Hearing something, Blue Poison looked up and noticed that Kanna was still sitting properly. Although her back was turned (which was a bit odd), since the cake was at a critical stage, Blue Poison didn't mind her posture as long as she remained seated properly.

Meanwhile, Kanna discreetly wiped some cream from the corner of her mouth and savored the sweetness. Truly, sweets are the best.

After a while, Blue Poison approached carrying two small plates.

"Come on, try some—I'm very confident in my dessert-making skills."

Kanna eyed the dessert in front of her. Had it not been for Blue Poison's reassurance, she would have sworn it was poison. After all, the mix of blue and purple hues blended together looked like some strange creature perched atop the cake, and the colorful tiny dots sprinkled over it resembled countless staring eyes—utterly unsettling.

No wonder her operator profile mentioned that her cake's color scheme was uniquely eccentric—it truly had character. One might almost hear an eerie chant like "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!" whispered in the air.

Yet even in the terrifying "deep sea," not even the young dragon could escape a giant maw.

Without adding any extra theatrics, Kanna gulped down the dessert in one go, startling Blue Poison, who feared she might choke.

The taste of Blue Poison's cake far exceeded Kanna's expectations. Much like the glowing, magically enhanced dishes from shows like "Cooking Master Boy" or the fantastical creations of Shouma Shinmai, it was imbued with a sort of "magic." So overjoyed was Kanna that her tail began to rustle and flicker noisily (and no, it wasn't because of a short circuit).

After finishing her own portion, Kanna fixed her gaze on the plate in front of Blue Poison.

Seeing Kanna's intense, unyielding stare, Blue Poison beamed with happiness. She often made cakes to display on the counter and had secretly observed that most people were put off by their appearance—only a few ever took one, which left her a bit disheartened.

But Kanna's evident love for sweets undoubtedly encouraged her; it seemed that her cake was indeed excellent—it was just that others simply didn't know how to appreciate it, and that was their loss.

Blue Poison then extended the cake toward Kanna, saying, "Kanna, if you'd like, have as much as you want! But remember, good food should be savored slowly to fully enjoy its beauty and joy!"

Worried that Kanna's habit of eating one bite after another might upset her stomach, Blue Poison cut the cake into several pieces, skewered them with a fork, and brought them to Kanna's mouth.
