Chapter 107: The Gourmet Carriage
A few days after they captured the Fountain Pear.
"Kenji, you're really something else," Toriko complained. "You knew Melk the Second had Melk's Stardust, but you specifically asked her not to tell us."
When Toriko reached the bottom of the Snake Den and met Melk the First, the master craftsman told him that his daughter had plenty of Melk's Stardust. Toriko had been dumbfounded. Before he'd left the workshop, the Second had told him she didn't have any and that he'd have to go mine it in the Snake Den. After returning to Mount Melk, Toriko finally learned the whole story: Kenji had specifically instructed her to say that.
"Haha, Toriko, if I'm not mistaken, capturing the Melk's Stardust was a task Senior Uncle Ichiryu gave you, right? There was surely a reason for it," Kenji said with a laugh.
Toriko nodded. The process of entering the Snake Den had taught him how to adapt to high-gravity environments. If he were to enter the Ungra Forest again, he definitely wouldn't get beaten down like last time. The old man's commissions were very useful. He felt like he was probably ready to go have some fun in the Gourmet World now.
The Gourmet World: Arrogant. This one deserves an elbow strike.
"By the way, is Komatsu's new knife finished?" Kenji asked.
"How did you know... ah, forget it, I won't ask. Yes, it's done. It's a fantastic knife."
"But I never expected there to be a Melk the Second, and for her to be a woman," Toriko marveled. It wasn't that he looked down on women, he was just surprised. At the base of Mount Melk, he had just been telling Komatsu to expect a burly, muscular man, only to be greeted at the top by a dashing, long-haired beauty. Most importantly, Melk the Second's masterful technique was breathtaking, truly at the level of a grandmaster.
"Kenji, want to come with me to see Zebra?" Toriko asked.
If Coco or Sunny had heard this invitation, they would have refused without a second thought. But Kenji, without missing a beat, replied, "Sure. I've already met three of the Four Heavenly Kings. Might as well go see the last one, Zebra."
"Zebra... isn't he locked up in Honey Prison?" Atashino suddenly interjected. Zebra was no nameless figure. Among the Four Heavenly Kings, he was the most famous, constantly making headlines and causing a significant impact. Some wars had even been halted because of him.
"This time, I'm going to get Zebra out," Toriko said with a smile. Zebra's crime was making 26 dangerous species extinct—bio-weapons that were severely disrupting the ecosystem. The IGO had been forced to have a certain person arrest him, mainly because the act of making a species extinct was going a bit too far.
"It's been a long time since I've seen Warden Love," Atashino murmured to herself. As fellow staff of Biotope 0, she and the Warden knew each other, but they rarely met. After all, who would go hang out at Honey Prison for fun?
The Gourmet Carriage. Although it was said to be able to circle the globe, this was limited to the Human World; the environment of the Gourmet World was an exception. This was a mode of transport only the rich could afford, and it required booking a long time in advance. Although Kenji and Atashino hadn't booked ahead, they were able to board using their Biotope 0 staff credentials. It was less a carriage and more a giant ship pulled by a colossal horse.
"Coco! Toriko! Kenji! You bastards! How could you make me drink this stuff?! Are you trying to kill me?!" Sunny was furious. That's right, his rotten friends had tricked him into drinking Himeko's coffee. The life-threatening taste shot straight to his scalp, making his magnificent, colorful hair stand on end in pure rage.
"Hey, we're all Heavenly Kings. We should share our blessings," Toriko said with a grin.
Coco nodded in agreement. They certainly couldn't leave Sunny out.
"I don't think this counts as a 'blessing'," Sunny retorted.
Kenji glanced at The Hour of Judgment in his dimensional space. Sigh, how am I ever going to get them to drink this? Even if I put it in a soup dumpling, a normal wrapper would just dissolve.
"And who is this?" Sunny asked, looking at Atashino. It was the first time he had seen her; she was a stranger to him.
"Atashino, my partner," Kenji introduced.
"You mean that Atashino? The genius surgeon who can supposedly treat any illness or injury with a single kitchen knife, and who is also one of the top-tier powerhouses among the Human World's Gourmet Hunters?"
Sunny's jaw dropped in surprise. He had clearly heard of Atashino's fame.
"She's also an incredibly skilled chef," Kenji added.
"Oh?" Sunny was surprised. He hadn't heard about that part. Since Atashino didn't run a restaurant, not many people knew about her culinary skills.
"Sunny, Coco, want to come with me to see that guy?" Toriko invited with a smile.
"No."
The two of them refused cleanly and decisively. They guessed that the "guy" Toriko wanted to see was Zebra. They were on the Gourmet Carriage for their own destinations and had no intention of getting off halfway to see him.
"Alright then." Toriko nodded. It was what he had expected.
Komatsu's eyes were wide. Who are they going to see? Why did Mr. Coco and Mr. Sunny refuse so bluntly, without even thinking about it?
"Mr. Toriko, who are we going to see?"
"You'll know when we get there," Toriko smiled, not answering the question.
[Sun God]: Thank you for your intel, Kenji. I've already led a team and smashed Sarron's head to bits.
[Star Forger]: So quickly?
Kenji hadn't expected Apollo to act so decisively, going straight to the enemy's fountain to crush Sarron's last remaining head. Knowing the script made every action a critical strike. The one standing before Sarron wasn't the Sun God Apollo, but "Post-Mortem" Apollo. The Stellaron Hunters should be very familiar with this feeling.
Elio: Damn it! Anyone who messes with my script deserves to die! Feed me peanuts!
[Sun God]: Sarron's head was trapped in black ice. It had basically no power to resist. The other Evil Star Gods were easy to deal with too.
Kenji smiled. The Evil Star Gods must have heard the line: "Evil Star God, how dare you!" Besides Sarron, they were indeed no match for Apollo.
[Star forger]: Then congratulations.
With Sarron dealt with, the next task for Apollo and the other Star Gods was to maintain the development of civilization in the universe.
[Sun God]: If you need anything in the future, just ask.
[Crash-Test Pilot]: Sigh, why do monsters keep appearing? I want a vacation.
[Gudako]: But Daigo-kun, don't you love breaking their horns? Isn't it a good thing that there are monsters?
[Crash-Test Pilot]: Who said I love breaking horns?! They're the monsters' weak points or the parts they use to attack! I do it to weaken the monster!
Daigo was getting defensive. He was not a horn-breaking maniac. That's right, it's Tiga's fault, not mine! It's just Tiga's brutal fighting style!
Monsters: Tiga has been getting more and more ruthless lately.
[Dian Mei Ruan]: The monster specimens Daigo sent are of great research value.
[Miss Pink Elf♪]: Mobius is also very satisfied ♪.
[Crash-Test Pilot]: I'm glad you can make use of them.
Every time Daigo finished fighting a monster, while still in his Tiga form, he would send the monster's remains to Ruan Mei and the others. Kenji had told him that some people might get their hands on monster remains and research them for dangerous purposes. Daigo had thought about it and realized it was a real possibility, so he simply sent them off-world to reduce the number of problems in his own. They probably wouldn't cause any major trouble in their own worlds, right?
The two worlds: Daigo, how can you be so selfish?
