Chapter 485: Pulling the Plane by Hand

When the Chief of Staff saw Lin Tian knocked down by his gunshot, he couldn't contain his joy. He tossed aside his gun and burst into laughter, "Hmph, daring to compete against me? You should look at your own size first. I was battling in Jianghu when you were still wearing split-crotch pants!"

"Eh, what's happening, why is the airplane flying so slowly?" the Chief of Staff wondered aloud, shouting at the pilot, "Why have you slowed down? Hurry up!"

The pilot, equally confused, replied, "I've already sped up, but why is it still so slow?"

He quickly checked and, looking beneath the cabin, he exclaimed, "There's someone below, someone is pulling the airplane."

"Are you blind!" the Chief of Staff cursed, "No one can pull a flying plane, get up, let me see what's going on."

The Chief of Staff looked down and gasped, his features twisted with fright, and his body trembled.

Because he saw Lin Tian, covered in blood, firmly grasping the landing gear of the fighter jet. When he saw Lin Tian, Lin Tian was also looking at him, their gaze ghostly, chilling him to the bone.

"He… he… he wasn't dead?" the Chief of Staff murmured in terror.

He had seen Lin Tian hit by two of his bullets, falling straight down. Given that height, he should have been smashed to pieces. How could he possibly be at the landing gear in the blink of an eye?

Remembering Lin Tian's blood-soaked body and ghost-like gaze, the Chief of Staff's skin crawled with goosebumps.

"Could it be… could it be that he's a ghost, coming to claim my life?"

The scene of Lin Tian grabbing the landing gear was witnessed by the soldiers on the ground who regarded him as a divine being, sent to save them.

"Look! The divine being has grabbed the landing gear."

"Yes, the divine being is so powerful, the bullets couldn't kill him. The Chief of Staff will definitely receive his deserved retribution this time."

"Divine being, divine being, divine being…!"

Lin Tian, with his hands on the landing gear, had his superpower source violently erupting, he was gathering his strength.

After a dozen seconds, Lin Tian emitted a terrifying aura, his eyes opening and closing made one tremble, and his arms trembled as if bestowed with divine power.

"Sigh…!"

He took a deep breath, elevating himself to peak condition.

"Come down!"

He let out a thunderous roar, his voice booming like thunder. His arms tensed, muscles swelling like serpentine dragons, concentrating all his strength in his arms, intending to pull the airplane down forcibly.

"It's bad, the airplane is descending," the pilot shouted.

"Climb, climb, climb up…!" the Chief of Staff yelled, sweating cold sweat all over.

The pilot desperately accelerated, but still couldn't stop the descent of the plane.

The airplane continued to descend slowly, propellers spinning as if they were flying off, but still unable to stop the descent.

In just a few short minutes, Lin Tian created one miracle after another, causing his comrades' hearts to beat over a hundred times per minute.

"Pulling the plane down barehanded, divine power!"

"The divine being is awesome, just fucking badass."

"Quick, look, the divine being is exerting force."

Lin Tian let out another forceful shout and, with all his might, pulled down sharply. Immediately after, the plane plummeted like it was in free fall.

Boom!

A loud crash, the airplane harshly slammed into the ground, the tail hitting the ground causing sparks to fly, and the entire tail caught fire.

If the airplane exploded, the power would be formidable, so the soldiers hurriedly fetched water to extinguish the fire.

The blaze was quickly put out, and amidst coughs of despair, the Chief of Staff and the American pilots struggled out of the cabin.

The Chief of Staff incredulously looked back at the airplane, gasping in shock, then raising his head to survey his surroundings. Unfortunately, the first thing he saw was Lin Tian, breathless but standing tall.

Lin Tian, soaked in blood, stared at the Chief of Staff with a gaze that seemed to consider him already dead, frightening the Chief of Staff so much that he fainted on the spot.

Lin Tian sighed in regret, initially wanting to torment him a bit, to avenge the two gunshots inflicted on him, but now, it seemed there was no chance for that.

The King swiftly ordered the Chief of Staff to be taken away, still retaining his rationality as, after all, he was the King, widely experienced and not a believer in the folklore of deities.

Though he did not believe, it did not mean that the soldiers behind him shared his disbelief. Just as the King was about to shake hands with Lin Tian to show his gratitude and admiration, the thousands of soldiers and citizens around them all knelt down in unison, fervently knocking their heads on the ground.

"Divine one, please protect us."

"Thank you, divine being, for descending to bring us peace."

"We humbly ask the divine one to help us defeat the American army and let us return to our homes."

Lin Tian was startled, and the King showed an awkward expression as he stared at Lin Tian, not knowing what to do for a moment.

With no other choice, Lin Tian had to play the part of a deity and said, "Everyone, please stand up. I will definitely help you. Please, get up!"

After much persuasion, the crowd finally dispersed, believing deeply in Lin Tian as if he were a celestial being.

The King said, "You saved my life and helped us capture the traitors. Come into my room, I have prepared a feast to honor you."

Lin Tian nodded without refusal, and led Xiahou Qingyi and others to have a meal.

During wartime, there wasn't much to offer. A few bowls of white rice, one chicken, and two ducks were served as a feast for Lin Tian and his companions.

At first, everyone exchanged polite remarks, and then Lin Tian got straight to the point.

"One hundred thousand American soldiers are besieged in Hade Town, surrounded tightly as if by walls of copper and iron. Not even a bird can escape. I wonder if the King has any brilliant strategies to defeat the enemy."

The King sighed, put down his chopsticks, and said, "The difference in strength between our nation, Hedan, and the American army is like that between a chicken and a tiger. The Americans haven't yet launched a full assault. If they do, with their power, they could break through Hade Town in three days."

The King's words lacked confidence and hope, seemingly as if the outcome depended on whether the Americans attacked or not. However, his expression was full of fighting spirit, with no hint of surrender.

Although Lin Tian had only known the King for a few hours, he could tell that the King was a wise ruler who wouldn't have the leisure to dine with Lin Tian if their defeat was certain.

His calm demeanor at dinner could only mean one thing: he had a final ace up his sleeve, though he did not wish to reveal it to Lin Tian.

Lin Tian guessed his thoughts and put down his utensils, speaking seriously, "I came here specifically to kill an important figure in the American army. I need your help. I fancy myself as somewhat capable and can assist you. You may not reveal your last resort to me, but with my help, your chances of success will greatly increase. We are in a cooperative relationship, where each fulfills what's needed and what's due."

The King's expression shifted slightly, then he inquired, "Whom do you intend to kill?"

"Haste, an American battlefield medic who works with those scientists."

The King was not excited; clearly, Haste was not important to him.

Lin Tian added, "If I could lead a team out, not only could I kill Haste, but I could also ensure that not a single one of those scientists goes back alive."

This time, the King showed interest, his lips curving into a slight smile, thinking of his nation's interests. Killing a medic was of no benefit to his country, but eliminating the group of scientists would force the Americans to give up on exploiting Hedan's oil and natural gas, which would surely cause the Americans to withdraw, resolving their crisis.

Recalling how Lin Tian pulled down an airplane with his bare hands, the King admired his prowess and decided to cooperate with Lin Tian.

The King waved his hand to dismiss others and then spoke very secretly to Lin Tian, "Ever since I took office, I anticipated this day might come, so I had several tunnels dug beneath Hade in advance, one of which leads directly behind the American lines."

Lin Tian was very surprised, thinking what foresight the King had.

"Our nation is weak, and the Americans hardly see us as a threat. Their conduct is lax, discipline slack, and many soldiers are merely here to plunder, unprepared for a major battle. Though they appear capable, internally they are but crumbling tiles and barking dogs. If we just give them a taste of our strength, they will crumble without a fight."

Lin Tian nodded in agreement, but asked, "Even if their soldiers are no good, their weapons certainly aren't a joke. One cannon per man is enough to choke you."

The King's voice dropped lower still as he said, "What they rely on is their Artillery Division. These past few days, I've had my soldiers digging tunnels night and day, nonstop; our tunnels now lead directly to their artillery positions."

"And you plan to surge out suddenly and seize their weapons," Lin Tian guessed.

"Exactly. Apart from operating cannons, the artillerymen have no combat capability. The soldiers guarding the artillerymen number only five thousand. As long as we are well prepared and swift in our assault, we can certainly take down their Artillery Division. Then, using their weapons to bombard them, we can surely turn defeat into victory."

"Good," Lin Tian took a gulp of wine and was delighted, asking, "Since you already have a plan, when do we act?"

"At three o'clock in the morning, when people are at their most drowsy. I've been worried about finding a suitable General Officer for this critical mission. The five of you are perfect," the King said with a smile.

"Good, we'll strike together at three o'clock this morning and wipe out the American forces."

"Good."

This information had been kept under wraps until one o'clock in the morning when the King suddenly gathered the General Officers to explain his intentions.

Upon hearing this, all the General Officers were immensely uplifted, never having expected that the King had such a strong card up his sleeve. If they had known earlier, they wouldn't have been fretting for so many days. They wouldn't have needed to fret for so many days.
