Top Actress Beware: Also Reborn Is Your CEO Husband!

Chapter 147: Rescue? Do you know who captured you?

As sharp as Grayson Quinn was, how could he not notice the change in Mason Nightshade's gaze? But he enjoyed challenging his limits the most.

With a carefree laugh, he said, "Just keep it from your sister-in-law, don't let her know. Aren't you out for revenge on her behalf? Why not use such a good method?" His smile deepened, looking increasingly like a dangerous and alluring flower spirit.

However, Grayson had his own plan in mind — you go ahead and flirt, and later I'll tell that news to Aurelia Shaw, let her set me up, and I'll pay her back.

Mason's mouth twitched slightly, curving into an arc as he looked at Grayson with interest, teasingly saying, "You wouldn't be planning to set me up after taking a loss from my wife, and then go inform her, would you?"

Grayson, having his thoughts revealed, didn't feel guilty at all and said with a face full of grievance, "I'm giving you advice out of kindness, yet you blame me. Sigh, it's really hard to be a good person these days."

Seeing Mason unresponsive, Grayson felt a sudden lack of interest.

"Are you really intending to stay faithful to your wife? It's just a play, and you wouldn't agree? What if one day you have to pretend to be a couple with another woman to complete a mission, would you defy military orders then?"

"There's no mission requiring me to go undercover; your assumption doesn't hold." Mason disdained discussing such assumptions.

"I'm talking about 'what if,' just in case, what if it happens."

The more Mason insisted, the more curious Grayson was about what he thought.

He had never seen Mason act like this toward anyone, almost unlike his usual roguish and malicious self.

"There's no such possibility." Mason slightly retracted the smile on his lips, "I won't give her the chance to be jealous."

Grayson sneered, "Nothing is absolute, aren't you afraid of any accidents?"

He really couldn't understand Mason's unyielding confidence. He trusted him and knew he had strong abilities, but that was on the battlefield. In matters of the heart, emotions are unpredictable; they can change in an instant. Who can guarantee that each will hold out till the end?

"No such accident," Mason said flatly, standing up and raising an eyebrow at Grayson, "Wanna watch the show or not?"

Just as Grayson felt a bit bored, those words made the corner of his mouth curve, and instead of answering, he asked back, "What do you think?"

The two drove to a hidden, damp basement. The guards opened the door, and inside, dim lights flickered with the low sound of a woman groaning. Audrey Wood lay half-dead on the ground, her face swollen beyond recognition, her clothes torn, and her body covered in bruises of blue and purple.

Sensing the light streaming in, she opened her eyes, her blurry vision catching the sight of a man's polished, expensive shoes stepping in. She crawled over, her five fingers skinned and turned out, none intact, two nails broken off, stretching like a ghostly hand toward Mason's legs.

"Save... save me... Please... save me..." Tears of regret flowed from her eyes, burning painfully over her wounds.

Mason raised his foot, evading her outstretched hand, stepping down firmly on it, looking down at her with a gaze as cold as observing a dead thing.

"Save?" He seemed to hear a ridiculous joke, his cold lips twitching slightly, "Do you know who brought you here?"

The voice sounded familiar, and Audrey slowly raised her head.
