Top Actress Beware: Also Reborn Is Your CEO Husband!

Chapter 135: Investigating Someone

Grayson Quinn's twisted sense of humor was something Mason Nightshade had long grown accustomed to and was too lazy to get angry about. After all, this guy just had that bit of a twisted taste, and it wouldn't lead to any outrageous mistakes. On the contrary, it came in handy at some crucial moments.

"Since you called, do something for me," Mason said.

"Oh?"

Hearing there was something to do, Grayson became interested. Staying in the hotel for the past two days had been somewhat boring, and his body felt a bit wasted. He was just thinking about finding something to stretch his muscles and move his limbs.

"What's the task?" Grayson asked with interest.

"Investigate someone. The more detailed the information, the better. It would be best if you have evidence."

Whenever Mason decided to target someone, his tone would turn deep and cold. The calmer his tone became, the angrier he was.

It had been a long time since he had been this angry with someone.

"Who are we investigating? An arms dealer? A drug lord? Or a mole undercover in our ranks?" Grayson was ready for action, unable to suppress his excitement and eager to set off immediately.

"None of those." Mason replied calmly, but his eye color turned cold for a moment, "Aurelia's agent, I want every single detail about her, don't miss even the smallest matter, especially..."

Mason paused for a moment, his voice becoming darker.

"Blemishes."

Grayson's vigor deflated like a punctured balloon, "Isn't this overkill? Making me investigate an agent in the middle of the night? Isn't this task a bit too easy?"

Mason tapped his fingers, his knuckles larger than the average person's due to years of handling firearms, gently drumming on the mahogany desk. His voice was slightly deep, "I'm in a very bad mood right now and really need someone to take it out on. This person has crossed my bottom line."

Grayson was stunned. A mere agent could actually touch Mason's bottom line.

"Got it," he said, "Results by morning?"

Mason responded with a "Mm," indicating it was acceptable, "Also send a copy to Gustavo Yates."

"Okay, okay." Grayson's voice turned frivolous again, "Don't worry about little Gustavo's copy, I'll send it to him personally. Are you having trouble sleeping again tonight? Want to come over for a drink?"

He took a sip of red wine, speaking leisurely and joyfully, unaffected by the gloomy mood of the man on the other end of the phone.

"Get to proper work," Mason said coldly.

Grayson muttered "Boring" and hung up the phone.

By the time Aurelia Shaw woke up in the morning, the sky was already bright. She stared in confusion at the empty space beside her; there was no sign of anyone having slept there. Mason indeed hadn't returned last night. But for some reason, she felt a bit cold, even though it was the middle of summer, the room wasn't air-conditioned, and a layer of sweat had formed on her head. So why did she feel cold?

Aurelia quickly dismissed this thought, thinking: Maybe I caught a chill unknowingly.

After getting up, brushing her teeth, and freshening up, Aurelia went downstairs for breakfast. However, because she hadn't fully recovered from the "mental shadow of the unspoken rules," her face looked somewhat haggard.

She sat down at the dining table, and Madam Rong served breakfast, "Young Madam, please enjoy your meal."

The respectful and polite voice made Aurelia frown, and she looked up. Since when were the servants in this house so courteous to her? Could it be that she had been too harsh on Mammy Li a few days ago, and the rest finally realized who was the master and who was the servant?

The poor conduct of the servants in this house was something she already experienced in her past life. It was impossible for them to be simply intimidated, otherwise, she wouldn't keep them around to slowly torment and deal with. The best way to deal with enemies is not to kill them outright but to psychologically and mentally torture them slowly, destroy what they hold dear, and ultimately drive them to collapse.
