Tokyo: Rabbit Officer and Her Evil Partner

Chapter 362: Tamako the Married Woman

Fushimi Roku and Watanabe Shun had some drinks, then went to a massage parlor to get their backs rubbed.

After finishing up, Watanabe Shun wanted to drag his junior to try a soapland bath together, but Fushimi Roku refused, so Watanabe went alone to "scrub down," while Fushimi sat outside waiting for him, occasionally being pestered by the soapland manager's recommendations.

"It's a real shame you're not trying it out. There's a really stunning soapland girl who just started..."

Watanabe Shun pulled up his pants, lamenting his junior's lack of taste.

Fushimi Roku was already impatient. Seeing Watanabe Shun was done, he quickly grabbed his arm and led him out of the red-light district, stating they had real business to attend to.

Watanabe Shun was puzzled, thinking today was supposed to be a day of relaxation, but it seemed Fushimi Roku had called him out for more than just drinks.

He followed Fushimi Roku to the Yamaguchi Group's turf, where they found a Yamaguchi officer. Fushimi claimed the Sumiyoshi Association intended to hand over a batch of contraband and then explained his purpose, using the same spiel to try to pay the Yamaguchi Group to hand over drugs.

However, the Yamaguchi members were tougher than Ono Yoshi and directly kicked Fushimi and Watanabe out. If not for Watanabe being a Criminal Police from the Police Department, they might have resorted to violence.

Watanabe Shun had no clue what shenanigans were going on and couldn't help but ask after leaving the Yamaguchi Group, "What are we doing?"

"Drug busting," Fushimi muttered as he lit a cigarette.

Playing the role of a bad boy today, he intended to smoke his fill and was showing signs of a returning nicotine addiction.

"That's nonsense."

Watanabe Shun was after all a formally employed Criminal Police officer and had participated in drug bust operations over the years. If he remembered correctly, methods generally included planting informants, disguising as buyers, trap operations, surprise raids, and inquiries... when did it involve endlessly paying drug dealers to hand over drugs?

At this rate, wouldn't the Police Department become the biggest buyer?

Watanabe Shun spoke his mind directly, to which Fushimi disdainfully flicked his cigarette ash and said, "What's the point? Tackling the symptoms, not the root cause. If we're going to catch them, go for the big fish, and unearth the suppliers and distribution channels of several syndicates."

Watanabe Shun was shocked, "Aren't you afraid of being hacked to death in bed tomorrow?"

"Afraid of what? I always sleep with one eye open," Fushimi bragged, making it up as he went.

He flicked his cigarette butt onto the ground, a spark flaring up.

Watanabe Shun had some regrets now; although he didn't know what Fushimi was up to, it surely was something big, and he didn't want to get involved. He only wanted to while away his days at the Police Department... Strictly speaking, with no boss supervision, Watanabe Shun was the ultimate slacker.

Fushimi wasn't going to force him; he could see Watanabe Shun's reluctance and simply let him leave.

Before leaving, Watanabe Shun, still stubborn, said if anything happened, just page him, as a senior, he'd absolutely help.

Fushimi casually brushed him off and, after they parted ways, headed straight to the Inakawa Association, asking Sazaki Gen to pass on a message that he intended to pay the gangs to hand over contraband, with advance payment and a price 10% higher than market value.

This would clearly be a no-lose deal. If it weren't proposed by Fushimi, Sazaki Gen might have been tempted.

"Are you buying achievements with money?" He probed, "If that's the case, you needn't bother outsiders... we could monopolize it."

Fushimi didn't want to say more, gesturing for Sazaki Gen just to relay the message.

Sazaki Gen found it bewildering, unclear on Fushimi's intentions, but figured it at least got his hands a bit dirty, increasing the chances he'd get dragged deeper later, so he agreed.

Thus, Fushimi's work for the day was done.

Next, he just had to wait for interested drug dealers to get in touch, then he'd relay them to the Police Department, marking each case—if suppliers wanted to sell directly, even better; he could catch the supply channels too.

Of course, the actual operation was surely tougher than anticipated—for instance, drug dealers aren't fools; they'd find scapegoats to handle transactions; and, being undercover, Fushimi couldn't hide his cop status forever; savvy ones might suspect his motives; the Police Department's internal workings weren't all clean either, his plans might get exposed...

But to Fushimi, none of this mattered.

As long as there's money to be made, someone will always bite. Why do drug traffickers take such risks? Is it because they have a passion for the shipping industry? No, it's for the money!

Of course, some drug dealers fund their habit through dealing, whose minds aren't too sharp. When withdrawal sets in and they're short on money, they'd come knocking too.

As long as Fushimi's cash flow was steady, sooner or later he'd come into contact with the suppliers—whether they arrange a meeting or force him to prove his loyalty, as long as there's contact, Fushimi had the confidence to eliminate them all.

He hummed a tune as he went to see a movie.

After the screening, he really did receive a call, asking if the offer to buy the handover was genuine.

Fushimi assured on the phone, telling them to be completely at ease.

Sazaki Gen arranged a meeting with two people to guarantee it, one of whom was a yellow-haired thug, furtively taking out a small bag of colorful pills, quoting a price. Fushimi looked disdainful and turned away, saying, "Don't contact me for such small quantities in the future."

"They're testing your sincerity," Sazaki Gen said.

Fushimi immediately understood, recognizing the yellow-haired guy as a pawn, but he didn't want to get involved—as soon as he touched it, the nature of the matter changed. Being Chinese in his previous life, he had a particular aversion to such things; if Kujo Yua hadn't staked even her daughter, he wouldn't have gotten involved in this business.
