Tokyo: Rabbit Officer and Her Evil Partner

Chapter 349: Master Thief Taira Sakurako

As the saying goes, a leopard can't change its spots. Uesugi Shion took over Fushimi Roku's room, turning it into a "fortress" with nothing but her bare hands.

The intruder, Minamoto Tamako, stepped on a trap. The nightstand had been converted into a battering ram, sending her flying—had there not been a pillow at the end, Minamoto Tamako would have been finished for sure.

She lay on the ground, her chest tight as she gasped for air, barely lifting her head to see Uesugi Shion hammering nails with a chair leg, crafting some new weapon.

"Quick, call the police!" Minamoto Tamako patted her chest and reached out to Fushimi Roku: "Call the detective squad to arrest her! Trespassing is a felony!"

"Wait a moment!"

Fushimi Roku waved a big hand, striking a "No Objection" pose, claiming that Uesugi Shion was a mental patient, and her trespassing didn't break the law. He added that the intrusion by the detective squad might exacerbate her condition!

"Then what should we do? We can't just let her go on a rampage!" Minamoto Tamako caught her breath.

"Of course not, we can interrogate her first, extract some intelligence on Ye Tea, and then hand her over to the detective squad."

Fushimi Roku thought he was being clever. He knew the art of spreading blame; as long as more than one person interrogated Uesugi Shion, he could have room to argue—Uesugi Shion's injuries wouldn't heal in ten days or half a month, and the detective squad and Uesugi family would eventually find out she had been interrogated.

Dragging Minamoto Tamako into it would be equivalent to having Kujo Yua as a shield.

But Minamoto Tamako wouldn't take the bait; she thought private interrogation was against protocol and felt it was better to officially question her in the interrogation room of the detective squad.

"What if, during her capture, Uesugi Shion gets agitated and becomes like Sakurako, refusing to speak?"

Fushimi Roku appealed to her emotions and reason, using a trump card: "I'm dying here, didn't you just say you'd do whatever it takes to save me?"

While speaking, he squeezed out a few crocodile tears: "So it was just talk... Women's promises, so flimsy..."

Evil Chant upgraded to 5.0 successfully, easily breaking through her defenses, far surpassing the current version of Yuzi Beast.

Minamoto Tamako quickly got up, using a plush slipper to rub Fushimi-kun's arm, trying to cheer him up; but she didn't want to breach principles, perform private interrogation (interrogating without complete paperwork or registration may be considered illegal coercion). So she came up with a compromise.

"Why don't we take her to the hospital?"

Minamoto Tamako grabbed Fushimi Roku's arm, suggesting, "In an emergency, the police can send a suspect for medical treatment. Right now, she shows aggressive tendencies. I think, as the Sugamo Detective, I have a duty to get her professional help... Maybe the doctors can ask her a few questions to glean some intel!"

Fushimi Roku worried about his kidnapping, illegal detention, and coercion being exposed, so he shook his head repeatedly in refusal.

Minamoto Tamako didn't understand and asked him for a reason; Fushimi Roku thought for a moment and casually replied, "What if something goes wrong while transporting her to the hospital?"

"We can call the hospital and ask them to send an attendant to capture the patient, just like last time..."

As she said this, Minamoto Tamako slapped her forehead: "Oh right! We can commission Doctor Arima for diagnosis!"

She hadn't forgotten her two-birds-with-one-stone plan.

"It's not appropriate," Fushimi Roku shook his head like a rattle drum: "Have you met Doctor Arima? Are you sure he's reliable? What if it's a private clinic without attendants?"

"Then we can call the National Hospital when the time comes!"

Minamoto Tamako had made up her mind, and nothing Fushimi Roku said could change it. She turned and picked up the landline, dialing Senior Kazama to ask for Doctor Arima's contact info.

Kazama Tatsuya thought Minamoto Tamako was taking Fushimi Roku for a consultation. After giving her the phone number, he added a few compliments about Doctor Arima, praising his noble character, excellent medical skills, and reliability. Any psychological issues, trust him for sure!

These words reassured Minamoto Tamako, as she was initially worried about Fushimi-kun's doomsaying. If Doctor Arima turned out to be unreliable, wouldn't she be harming others?

Now that Senior Kazama vouched for him, there's nothing to worry about!

Fushimi Roku saw the situation worsening; if Uesugi Shion really got treated, wouldn't he be doomed? Combining old feuds with new offenses, Uesugi's daughter wouldn't rest until she got her revenge!

Earlier, he thought Uesugi Shion was pretending to be crazy until he found out about Nue Poison being solar-activated. Suddenly, Uesugi Shion seemed genuinely insane to him... That's the bias of preconceived notions.

After all, she was submerged in water for several minutes—it's already amazing she's not in a vegetative state; how could she be unscathed?

"I'll go watch over her in the room, just in case she runs."

Fushimi Roku patted his chest, wearing a 'leave it to me' expression. Minamoto Tamako was on the phone and couldn't respond, so she just gave him a thumbs up to say 'good luck.'

Fushimi Roku turned and went back to the room, closing the door behind him. While Minamoto Tamako was on the call, he lowered his voice and said:

"Run quickly!!"

Uesugi Shion was crafting a new trap, dismantling the bedroom furniture like a Husky, leaving it in tatters.

Fushimi Roku noticed his stash had been found, with ten-thousand yen notes scattered all over the floor. He hurried to gather the money, fearing Minamoto Tamako would discover his unexplained wealth if she came in.

"Hurry up and run; someone's coming to catch you soon!"
