Tohka Yatogami's: Marvel Journey

Chapter 4: The Press Conference

"Hmm?" Rhodes glanced at Tony with a puzzled expression but quickly understood his intention. Without further comment, he boarded the military helicopter with a few others and left the desert.

"Alright, let me register some basic information for you." On the plane, Tony, sitting across from Tohka, began asking her about necessary details like her family background and relatives.

What could Tohka do? All she could do was answer with "I don't know" to everything. After all, she didn't exist in this world before, so no matter how they checked, they wouldn't find anything.

This, however, put Tony in a tough spot. Although he could help, certain procedures had to be followed, which made it difficult even to secure an immigration status for her.

"Alright, you win. Just wait. Oh, by the way, how old are you?" Seeing Tohka's endless string of "I don't know," Tony resorted to making up random details. Lost her memory, orphan—he just made it all up.

"Uh, well…" Hearing Tony's question, Tohka tilted her head, trying to figure out how old she actually was.

If it were her previous life, she'd be around 17 or 18. If she went by the actual Tohka, she'd be about 15 or 16. And if she considered the time she'd been in this world, she'd technically be one day old…

"You've got to be kidding me. You don't even know that?" Tony stared at Tohka, feeling utterly exasperated. He'd never realized that filling out basic information could be so hard.

"Uh, fifteen."

"You're lying. Fifteen? With that figure?" As a playboy, Tony could roughly gauge Tohka's body type at a glance. There was no way a 15-year-old girl could have her physique.

"Uh, then seventeen."

"Do you think you're an 'eternally seventeen' girl? Forget it, let's just go with that. I don't feel like taking you in for a full checkup."

By the time the plane landed in the U.S., Tohka's identity documentation was likely ready.

Out of some odd sense of humor—or perhaps for other reasons—Tony listed himself as her legal guardian since Tohka was under 18.

Of course, Tony had no ulterior motives. After all, he preferred mature, sultry women.

However, Tohka clearly didn't fit those criteria. Her personality was obviously that of a young girl, so Tony had no interest in her.

"Tony, who exactly is this person?" Rhodes had already looked into Dr. Yinsen's background, but he couldn't find anything on Tohka. If Tony hadn't vouched for her, there was no way an unknown like Tohka would've been allowed on a military transport plane.

Since there was no one else around, and he noticed Tony helping Tohka register her identity, Rhodes couldn't help but ask out of curiosity.

"I don't know either. Anyway, she's the one who rescued me, so the least I can do is help her get an identity."

Tony rubbed his forehead in frustration. This was the first time he'd encountered someone so naive yet so powerful.

This was why he listed himself as Tohka's guardian. It effectively made her an adopted daughter of the Stark family, giving her the right to inherit his assets.

Still, Tohka had saved his life and hadn't asked for anything tangible in return, which made him feel a bit guilty. By doing this, he could also shut down anyone trying to investigate her background.

But that wasn't the main reason. The real concern was leaving Tohka unattended—who knows if someone might exploit her? Plus, he didn't want to wake up one day and find the city missing a chunk because of her.

For now, Tohka was completely unaware of any of this. She was just looking forward to reaching the U.S. so she could finally have a big meal.

After all the traveling, she was absolutely starving. Back at the military base, she'd only had a rushed meal before boarding the plane.

Meanwhile, back in the U.S., Tony's disappearance had caused an uproar across various sectors.

The main issue was that the politicians were on the verge of crumbling under the weight of public pressure. Although the movies didn't mention this, in reality, the upper echelons of American society were anything but calm.

"Phew." After some turbulence, the plane finally landed safely in the U.S.

Tony, grateful to be alive, disembarked with Yinsen and Tohka. Yinsen had his own matters to attend to, so he bid Tony farewell, while Tohka was pulled into Tony's car.

Tohka also met Tony's assistant and official girlfriend, Pepper Potts. In Tohka's opinion, Pepper wasn't particularly pretty, but Tony clearly thought otherwise.

"Why did you bring back a little girl? When did your preferences change?"

"Listen to me, darling, it's not like that. How could I possibly be interested in some immature little brat? I… I'm sorry, I was wrong."

Tony didn't even finish his sentence before he shivered instinctively. He noticed Tohka sitting beside him, glaring at him dangerously. That was enough for him to immediately apologize—he had no desire to be chased down by her wielding a giant sword.

"Hmph." Satisfied with Tony's quick capitulation, Tohka turned her gaze to the window.

As a standard single individual, she had no desire to be smothered in displays of affection. Nor did she want to channel the Fifth Spirit and burn everything down, so she simply turned her attention outside the window.

Finally, the car came to a stop, and Tohka realized they were at Tony's press conference. She wondered why he had brought her along.

As a former otaku, she disliked such public settings and was tempted to jump out of the car and run away.

However, before she could act, Tony pulled her out of the car and led her toward the press conference.

Seeing Tony holding a burger in his injured hand and grabbing her with the other, all while surrounded by flashing cameras, Tohka had no choice but to follow along nervously.

She was certain that if she ran away now, her life would become much harder in the future.

"First, I have two announcements to make. The first is that I've taken in an adopted daughter—Yatogami Tohka. Say hello to everyone."

"W-What?!"
