Chapter 335: Visiting the Satan Household (Part 2)
"Thank you for your patronage. Please visit again!"
Carrying two large bags filled to the brim with groceries, Videl walked out of the supermarket, her face full of pain.
Damn that Sirus! To entertain you guys, I just spent an entire month's worth of my part-time job savings!
That said, it had been a long time since their home had guests. Though she was complaining inwardly, a small part of her was actually happy about it.
Upon returning home, Videl informed her father, Mr. Satan, that Yuujin and his friends would be visiting that evening. Unsurprisingly, Mr. Satan reacted with extreme agitation.
"Your friends are coming to our house?"
"No, no, no! Tell them not to come! We don't welcome anyone here!"
"Dad!"
Seeing her father behave like this, Videl grew annoyed.
Sirus and the others were her friends and had helped her a lot. Besides, she had already promised them. How could she just go back on her word now? How would she face them afterward?
"Vi... Videl, don't be mad."
Seeing his daughter this angry for the first time, Mr. Satan immediately cowered.
Truth be told, Videl was the real head of their household. Not only did she have to balance training and school, but she also worked to support the family. Meanwhile, all he did was sit around drinking every day, completely useless.
Normally, he could still use his authority as a father to order her around, but when she got mad, he didn't dare to push it.
After calming herself, Videl realized she had overreacted a bit and softened her tone.
"Don't worry, Dad. Sirus and the others are different. He even said he considers you a true hero. He's not coming here to make fun of you."
"Hmph, who knows if that brat really thinks that? If he's here to mock me, I'll kick him out immediately!"
Mr. Satan grumbled, making Videl chuckle in exasperation.
If Sirus really came to mock them, then it would just mean she had misjudged him. In that case, she wouldn't need her father to kick them out—she'd do it herself!
"Alright, Dad. I'm going to prepare dinner for our guests. You should tidy up the house and change your clothes. Don't embarrass us."
"Yeah, yeah, so troublesome..."
Despite his complaints, Mr. Satan still sluggishly got to work.
Time passed quickly, and soon, evening arrived.
"Videl! Open the door! Open up!"
Hearing Gokumi's voice from outside while she was still busy in the kitchen, Videl quickly walked over and opened the door.
As expected, Yuujin, Gokumi, and Broly were standing outside.
"Videl, we're here!"
"Welcome! Come on in."
With a smile, Videl warmly greeted them.
Gokumi hopped inside energetically, while Broly simply said, "Sorry for the disturbance" before following in. However, Yuujin didn't enter immediately. Instead, he scanned Videl up and down with curiosity.
"Videl, that apron looks pretty cute on you."
"It's just a normal apron! Hurry up and come inside already."
Feeling her cheeks heat up under Yuujin's gaze, Videl quickly pulled him into the house.
"Wow! Is this our dinner? It looks delicious!"
Seeing the table filled with various dishes, Gokumi cheered excitedly, already drooling.
"Videl, you really prepared this much food for us?"
"Wasn't it you who asked for it?"
Yuujin chuckled, while Videl replied in an exasperated tone.
Thinking about how much she had spent on groceries, her heart ached once again.
"By the way, where's your dad, Mr. Satan? I don't see him around."
Trying to change the subject, Yuujin asked casually.
"Oh, he went out to buy some alcohol. He'll be back soon."
Speaking of her father, Videl sighed helplessly.
After cleaning up the house earlier, he suddenly said he needed to buy alcohol to "entertain the guests." Entertain the guests, my foot! Clearly, he just wanted an excuse to drink!
He was always drinking. No matter how much he had, it was never enough.
Although a bit annoyed, Videl decided to let it slide since they rarely had guests.
"I see."
"Here, a little something for you."
Nodding, Yuujin handed her two finely wrapped boxes.
It was customary to bring small gifts when visiting someone's home, so Videl accepted them without hesitation, thanking him as she placed them on a nearby cabinet.
"This one's for Mr. Satan, and this one's for you."
"Don't open them now. Wait until we leave."
"Alright, alright. So secretive."
Videl rolled her eyes but didn't think much of it, setting the boxes aside.
"You guys can sit and relax. I'll go finish up a few more dishes."
Leaving Yuujin and the others to themselves, Videl returned to the kitchen.
Gokumi excitedly wanted to help, but Yuujin quickly stopped her.
If she went to "help," they'd be lucky if she didn't cause a disaster.
With nothing else to do, Gokumi and Broly started watching TV while Yuujin casually observed Videl's home.
Just as she had said, their house was indeed small and in a remote location—barely enough for two people to live in. They had only managed to find it by sensing Videl's energy.
In the original Dragon Ball, Videl's family was incredibly wealthy, owning dozens of mansions and being attended to by numerous servants.
But in this world, her family had fallen into poverty.
Fate was truly unpredictable.
After a while, Videl finished cooking and brought out the remaining dishes.
Although Yuujin and his friends were used to eating the most exquisite delicacies, seeing the colorful and fragrant homemade dishes still made their appetites surge.
Yuujin couldn't help but admire Videl—she was truly a remarkable girl. Strong, smart, and even an excellent cook.
Just then, the door opened.
"Videl, I'm back!"
Carrying a large crate of alcohol, Mr. Satan stepped inside.
However, the moment he saw Yuujin and the others, he froze in place.
