Final Update!
Guess who's back. Yeah that's right, it's this girl. Also, wth, I come back and TSC finished?! I gotta catch up, *sob*
Welp, that just means I gotta up my game! I'm feeling pumped to get back on this, lemme tell ya. I've got scenes planned to happen(I say planned, ha, funny, I'm the type of writer to spontaneously write stuff), and I can't wait to start posting again!
Imma slow down a bit and share stuff about my life for a second, because that's obviously what you guys are here for and definitely not TSC Modern AU.
Two things, we ended up winning our court case, and got quite a bit of money, so there's that outta the way. High school's kicking my butt, I've got so many projects I need to catch up on. I don't even wanna imagine what college is like. I'll probably shift things to a weekend only schedule, either Sat-Sun, or two on Sun.
And the other thing is that I'm feeling better, honestly. I'm not like, 100% healed, and my hand sometimes can't stop shaking, but I'm definitely like, 90% healed. There was a period of time where I was sorta worried I couldn't keep writing this, but crisis averted!
Alright, back to Mod TSC. I'll start posting somewhere mid-late Oct. Some minor spoilers ahead for the upcoming arc:
Spoils outta the way, I figured I should have some sorta AU alteration portion to keep you guys in the know about my thought process. Honestly, I could keep things the way they were, but I wanna put my spin on things a little. This is technically a Fanfic, you know! If you guys feel that my changes to the story are unnecessary or over the top, feel free to tell me about it in the comments.
AU ALTERATION: Mutations & EA
I'll be totally honest, I had no clue what I was doing for Mutations initially. But the more I thought about it, the more it grew on me. You see, I always thought it was weird how Rian, RX, and Augustus just sorta powercrept the other cast members. I mean, sure, Rian and RX had two lives and Augustus could be some insane genius, but it never truly sat right with me.
Especially since we never get really deep into the combat of things. There's a sorta vague hierarchy of arcane power throughout the whole novel, but it's not truly concrete and we never get an in-depth explanation on things. I don't know about you guys(oh wait I do know, we all enjoy BL fantasy romance. I'm dum), but I'm a fight scene fanatic when it comes to fantasy or arcane stuff.
So, here's my explanation for adding Mutations into the story: obviously people have mutations all the time, right? Cancer breaks out, people have resistances to certain diseases, stuff like that. Why not the same for superhumans and mages? It adds an element of randomness to each fight(of which I'm definitely making more of, it's just my writing style), and it helps define a character's power hierarchy.
I also wanted an excuse for adding stronger characters in the verse, as I thought the power level difference was rather weird. For example, Ren Xiyang manages to react(or at least, split second prepare) for lightning, while someone like Florence... sorta sits back and makes plants bloom. Good on her, I'd love to do that too, personally, but it's such an insane difference.
I also always wondered about RX's original world and the people of that society, and how powerful they were. If RX was able to fly, create plasma, and have heat vision almost permanently on, how would other people compare? Despite both verses having the same power system, it was just too big a gap for me as a reader, personally. So, Mutations sorta act as a power level bridge.
EA is rather simple. The way I'm going with the story, and this is sorta a minor spoil so,
For people who don't read the spoilers, one, good on you, two, spells take a back seat in this story, and direct magic manipulation(or DMM) takes the wheel. And it didn't really make sense for strong mages to just lose outright due to poor Pokemon type matchups, so we're compromising.
Also, RX is out here using literal ropes of fire to levitate people. Sure, he's probably doing both at the same time, but like, yeah?
So those were my reasons for Mutations and EA. Ultimately, it really boils down to combat mechanics, and that'll probably be the reason for a lot of the changes I add.
Anyways, yeah, thanks for coming by and reading my story. Also, BFH, if you're reading this, first of all, HI, OMG, IM SORRY I WASNT THERE, BUT CONGRATS ON 250 AND THE END OF THE STORY WOOOOOOOOO. Second of all, I'd love to get some feedback every once in a while about changes I add before I add them, and how you think they'd affect the story. Is there anyway to contact you? An email, discord, anything?
Alright, see ya guys, I'll catch up on TSC(Ha, no) and I'll see you guys in the next chapter! Bye!
