There is something wrong with Hikigaya’s classroom of the Elite, as expected

Chapter 43

Chapter 43: Welcome to the World of Meritocracy

“Teacher, what about the 100,000 personal points that were supposed to be distributed on the 1st of each month? I haven’t received any, and I almost didn’t have enough money to buy juice today.”

“Yeah, I haven’t received any personal points either. I was planning to go out for a big meal today. Is there a system error at the school?”

Many students expressed that they had not received their personal points for May and anxiously asked Chabashira-sensei for clarification.

“Huh? The personal points for this month haven’t been distributed yet? I was up all night playing Black Horse, I didn’t even notice!”

“I’ll check… Ah, I only have 500 points left!”

There were students, like the fool duo, who seemed completely unaware of the anomaly, but it seemed like they were the only ones.

“Personal points are indeed distributed on the 1st of each month. Therefore, the distribution of personal points for Class D has been confirmed for this month, with no objections,” Chabashira-sensei said coldly from the podium, her ice-cold gaze making many of the usual pranksters in class feel an unsettling chill.

“But I clearly haven’t received any points! I only have 500 points! What about my lunch? I wanted the tempura set!” Ike shouted loudly.

The tempura set Ike was referring to cost 2,000 personal points, which was on the more expensive side in the cafeteria.

“Until now, you’re still this foolish!” Chabashira-sensei’s expression was colder and more serious than ever, her tone laced with sarcasm.

“What… what’s going on?”

Many students were shocked by Chabashira-sensei’s severe words. Normally, she didn’t care about anything and even ignored harassment from students, but now she was throwing such a big tantrum?

“Is she finally losing her patience?”

Hikigaya sighed as he looked at the class teacher on the podium, her cold demeanor making him think that, if he were in her position, dealing with such a terrible class from day one, the accumulated frustration and anger were unimaginable.

Besides anger, Hikigaya couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of disappointment and helplessness. Was it just an illusion?

“The personal points for May have been confirmed and distributed to everyone in Class D. There is no possibility that the school system malfunctioned or that this class was forgotten!” Chabashira-sensei’s words threw the class into confusion. She said the points had been distributed, but why hadn’t anyone received any on their phones?

Wasn’t this a contradiction?

Some students, still unwilling to give up, tried to ask again, but as soon as they saw Chabashira-sensei’s cold, unblinking stare, they instantly backed off.

Chabashira-sensei, seeing that the students were still in a state of confusion and helplessness, felt her anger burning even stronger. The shattered illusions of her students were being ruthlessly stomped on.

“After all this time, and no one understands the situation?! Heh!!!”

As she spoke, Chabashira-sensei even let out a laugh, something none of the students had ever expected to see from her. The bizarre scene left everyone speechless. Only Hikigaya understood; their class teacher had been driven to laughter by the stupidity of her students!

“I see now! I finally understand the mystery, teacher!”

A loud and confident laugh broke the nearly frozen air. Koenji, looking proud of himself, said, “The school did indeed distribute the personal points for this month. It’s not that we didn’t receive personal points; it’s just that the number we received is zero!”

As soon as Koenji finished speaking, the classroom fell silent for a moment, then many students immediately refuted his statement.

“Impossible! The school clearly promised us 100,000 points!”

“Yeah, did the school embezzle the 100,000 points?! This school is outrageous!”

“That’s a ridiculous answer! Who do you think you are, you self-absorbed, blonde jerk!”

Although Koenji had already pointed out the answer, many students refused to accept it as the truth, or perhaps, they only wanted to believe their own version of the “truth.”

“Heh, what a bunch of sad little ducklings,” Koenji sneered, then turned his gaze to Chabashira-sensei at the podium. “If I’m not mistaken, the school never promised to give us 100,000 personal points every month. Isn’t that right, teacher?”

“Although Koenji’s attitude is terrible, what he said is not wrong.” Chabashira-sensei scanned the students below her. “Despite all the hints I gave you, not a single student noticed. You are all truly pathetic!”

The classroom was completely silent. The atmosphere felt suffocating, and no one could breathe.

Many students couldn’t accept the fact that they had received zero personal points this month, but Chabashira-sensei’s words laid this “truth” bare for all to see.

Hikigaya instinctively glanced at Horikita, whose face looked a bit grim, though it was unclear what she was thinking.

“Teacher, I have a question,” said Hirata, the warm, charismatic “class leader” and “perfect” student who was also popular. He spoke up, “I want to know the reason for the zero points, otherwise, I can’t accept this result.”

As expected, the leader was supposed to step up in moments like this. But was it a bit too late?

Hikigaya muttered to himself in his mind.

Chabashira-sensei merely glanced at Hirata, her expression still as cold as ever. She didn’t give the “class leader” any special treatment and coldly replied, “The reason? Hah, you actually have the nerve to ask?”

She then proceeded to list out the number of tardies, early departures, and absences that Class D had accumulated over the month, as well as the instances of students messing around in class and playing with their phones.

The number of infractions and the accuracy of the numbers left everyone speechless. At the same time, a cold chill ran down their spines.

“Look at how much foolishness you’ve all committed this month. The school has clearly recorded everything, and these results will be reflected in your personal points. Now do you understand why your points are zero? It’s because of your foolishness that the 100,000 points were all lost bit by bit!”

Chabashira-sensei’s demeanor was as cold as the Siberian wind. “As I said at the beginning of the term, this school measures the value of students based on their abilities. Now, you’ve gone from 100,000 points to zero—worthless trash!”

It seemed as though Chabashira-sensei was venting all the accumulated frustration and anger from the time she had spent tolerating these students. Her words cut deep, like a blade slicing through every inch of their skin, leaving behind bloody wounds.

At that moment, Class D’s students were forced to “reacquaint” themselves with the true nature of the teacher they had been so dismissive of for so long.
