chapter 125
Chapter 50: A Visit
“Congratulations, Mu En Campbell.”
In the student council room, Vail was busy with something again, so Celicia personally made coffee for Mu En once more.
“In just one month, you’ve gone from thirty to eighty points. This is unprecedented in the history of the entire academy; you could say you’ve made history.”
“Thank you.”
Mu En took the coffee from Celicia’s hands, watching as she dropped sugar cubes into it one by one until the coffee became somewhat viscous. He took a small sip, revealing a hint of pleasure on his face.
He still loves his coffee with a ton of sugar.
Mu En smiled slightly and took another sip; it was bitter, yet fragrant and pleasant:
“But to say I’ve made history is too much. Compared to that, Ariel’s perfect score is what truly makes history.”
Achieving a perfect score in the Introduction to Basic Magic is probably as difficult as getting a perfect score in language arts in Mu En’s past life.
So, Ariel’s perfect score must be jaw-dropping.
It could be said to be a very typical protagonist’s show-off moment.
Yet, for some reason, Mu En felt that there wasn’t much discussion around that perfect score.
Instead, the strong winds on the rooftop had become the hot topic among students.
However, after the teachers at the academy swiftly installed ten-meter-high barbed wire on every rooftop, this topic disappeared.
—It was replaced by discussions about which river in the academy was clearer.
Fortunately, those who could enter this academy were not likely to drown in the few one-meter-deep streams and artificial lakes within, so by now, it was merely a few sharp critiques from the newspaper of the news club, lamenting the never-give-up spirit of the gamblers.
“Did Ariel score a hundred?”
Celesia seemed to be hearing this for the first time, lightly brushing her silver-white hair, a hint of admiration appearing in her eyes:
“That’s quite impressive.”
“…That’s it?”
“Hmm?”
“I thought you would praise her a bit more.”
“Ariel’s hundred is indeed surprising.”
Celesia’s cold gaze swept over Mu En:
“But since you could score eighty, I don’t find it too surprising how high the others can score.”
“Are you complimenting me?” Mu En’s mouth twitched.
“Let’s just say I am.”
Celesia flipped through the documents in front of her and began processing them.
“You suddenly came to visit me; it shouldn’t be just to show off your grades, right?”
“Hehe, how could that be?”
Mu En laughed nervously:
“I came to…”
Before Mu En could finish, a card was thrown in front of her.
Celesia, holding a pen, wrote something on the document without looking up, as if she had already guessed Mu En’s thoughts.
“You go to the school hospital, show this, and someone will naturally take you to visit classmate Aemon.”
“Thank you.”
Mu En gratefully took the card, preparing to leave, but was stopped by Celesia.
“Remember, don’t stay too long.”
Celesia reminded:
“He is still very weak.”
“Weak?”
Mu En frowned:
“However, it’s been a month now. Even if he had suffered serious injuries, with the academy’s medical standards, he should have recovered by now.”
“The injuries have long since healed, but the potion he drank is capable of awakening the bloodlines and potential within him. For ordinary people, resting for just one or two weeks after consuming it would suffice for recovery. However, he was in such a severely depleted state before that the potion forcibly triggered his potential, nearly damaging his foundation. He is still in recovery.”
“Is that so?”
Mu En recalled how, back then, Aimon had transformed from someone so thin he seemed as if he could be blown away by the wind into a terrifying werewolf. If the potion wasn’t providing him with energy, then the toll on his body was indeed unimaginable.
But the potion was merely a catalyst; the root cause…
A flicker of anger flashed in Mu En’s eyes:
“Selisia, those people…”
“A few days ago, three seniors from the academy dropped out.”
Selisia said:
“The reason was for using improper means to harm fellow students. The news has already been posted on the academy’s bulletin board. Didn’t you see it?”
“Ah… thank you.” Mu En paused for a moment; his mind had been entirely focused on exams during this time, leaving him no time to check any bulletin boards.
“You don’t need to thank me for this. Didn’t I say before? It’s the student council’s duty to teach bad students a lesson.”
Selisia continued to flip through documents, seemingly indifferent to such trivial matters.
“And those guys were indeed quite despicable. After all, using violence against someone with no means to resist is something even the scum you used to be wouldn’t do.”
“Are you complimenting me?” Mu En’s mouth twitched again.
“Just take it as such.”
“…”
“By the way, have you found out who gave Aimon the potion?”
Mu En recalled this matter.
Because Aimon had also mentioned at that time that he was coaxed into drinking the potion by a mysterious woman.
Although he didn’t know what kind of intentions that woman had, he indeed had nearly lost his life because of the effects of that potion.
So he couldn’t simply ignore it.
“Regarding this matter…”
Selisia raised her head, her cold eyes resembling two deep ancient wells, making Mu En feel a chill run down his spine:
“I’m sorry, but I can’t disclose that for now.”
“Can’t disclose?”
Mu En couldn’t help but furrow his brows.
If this matter only involved a conflict between students, it wouldn’t warrant Selisia saying the words ‘cannot disclose.’
There must be some underlying issues.
But Mu En also gave up on further questioning.
After all, given Celicia’s temperament, if she said that, then no matter how much I asked, it was unlikely I would get to the bottom of it.
I can only trust her.
……
……
After Mu En left, Celicia finally put down her pen.
Looking at the documents and materials in front of her, marked with red circles highlighting the key points, she couldn’t help but rub her temples. A rare hint of fatigue appeared on her usually cool face.
“The evolution potion… really does evoke unpleasant thoughts.”
She turned to look out the window; the sky was overcast, and her heart sank along with it.
“I hope there won’t be any accidents during this open day.”
……
……
In the warm hospital room, Eamon was plunged into great shock as he listened to the news the nurse had just brought in.
“Successful…”
“Young Master Mu En actually succeeded?”
No.
That’s not right.
Success was to be expected.
Because of Young Master Mu En’s gaze at that time, those eyes that burned like flames—anyone who saw them would believe he had the power to turn the impossible into the possible.
“Just…”
“How am I supposed to face him?”
“I… almost killed the young master…”
The memory of transforming into a werewolf was already a bit hazy, but Eamon still vaguely remembered.
At that time, it seemed he truly… wanted to kill Young Master Mu En.
Looking at his still gaunt hands, the image of those hands gripping Young Master Mu En’s neck resurfaced in his mind, and Eamon was suddenly engulfed in immense guilt and self-loathing.
The young master must hate me now.
He will definitely abandon me, just like before.
After all…
Creak.
At that moment, the sound of the door opening echoed.
That familiar, rich voice flowed into the room like a gentle breeze.
“Good afternoon, Emon, have you eaten?”
