The Wrong Summon: Flaw Repair Guide

Chapter 16: Pills

"Keep working." Mary responds before turning to Jacob.

"This is the laboratory. Dylan and Elaina are our main and well…only nerds." She introduces.

"We're not nerds," Elaina cut in immediately, not even looking up from her work. "We're intellectuals."

Emma, leaning against the nearby desk with a grin, waved a hand dismissively. "Honey, the adults are talking." Elaina shot her a glare, quietly grumbling to herself.

Jacob holds back a laugh and keeps his ears perked up, listening intently.

"So, we pretty much harness the power of cores and any other materials we can get our hands on to either harness energy to make pills or for other uses." Marinette continues.

"Pills?" Jacob knits his brows.

"So, pill production was a massive business, not just in Versaliter but in Baloriant in general. However, recently the government has been putting a ban on certain types of pills and limiting supply greatly."

Marinette walks ahead and picks up a small container that carried a few capsules. She picks up one of them.

"The biggest problem succubuses and incubuses have is dealing with their lust, dealing with their desire. We usually deal with these desires through physical intimacy with humans due to our mana harmony with them, right? However, these pills solve our problems." She said, turning the capsule between her fingers.

"This is a nullification capsule. It numbs the body which means that it nullifies our senses and emotions." Jacob looks at the pill with a complicated expression

"We had a distributor who would mass produce these pills and we would buy them, but due to the recent relegations, the pill business is too risky especially for banned pills like these and she bailed on us. However, it was pretty easy to reproduce these guys but we could only make it in small batches." Marinette pressed the container into his hand.

"Keep this with you once the heat or desire is too much. I know you're a bit different from us, but it'll be handy to have just in case. Don't worry, we all have our own cases too."

"Uh thanks." Jacob felt a bit guilty to accept, he was a normal human after all.

"Don't sweat it. Along with these pills, we have small batches of strength, agility, and defence boosters and some other stuff I'll explain once the time comes."

"But most of these pills are too strong for you to handle!" Dylan adds on.

"He's right, we need you to get stronger like really quickly. All of our pills are only temporary though we are trying to make permanent solutions. But those solutions will probably need a lot stronger cores." Marinette casually picks up a beast core and brings it closer. Jacob flinches at the sight, his head aching.

"Ah, sorry," Marinette quickly pulled the core back. "The mana's probably too dense for you."

"No biggie," Jacob said, forcing a shaky breath as the headache slowly faded.

"You good?" Rowan asked, watching him carefully.

"Yeah. Just weak," Jacob admitted.

"What rank are you?" Rowan pressed.

"G+," Dylan answered before Jacob could speak.

"No one asked you!" Jacob snapped, but Dylan just smirked and went back to his work. Elaina sighed, shaking her head at the noise while Emma hovered near her, clearly annoying her to no end.

"You'll catch up soon enough," Rowan comforted. "A god's blessing isn't just for show."

I really hope that's true.

"We've got a training room," Rowan added. "I can teach you swordplay."

"Crossbows are better and way cooler." Emma chimed in immediately.

"I've got a pretty neat axe," Jacob said, shrugging. "Haven't really used it much though."

"Dual wield. Axe and sword. It's a great combo," Rowan insisted.

"Nope. Bow and axe. Long range and close range. Ultimate synergy," Emma fired back.

Their bickering filled the room until a small but sharp voice finally cut through.

"BE QUIET! I CAN'T CONCENTRATE! EVERYONE OUT!" Elaina slammed her tools down, eyes blazing.

Marinette laughed softly. "Okay, princess. Keep up the good work." She ruffled Elaina's hair as she walked by. The girl's cheeks flushed, but she didn't complain.

As Jacob trailed after the group, Elaina's voice called him back.

"New guy. You stay."

Jacob paused.

"…Me?"

She didn't answer, instead rolling her eyes.

"Is there any other new guy here? Dumbass."
