Chapter 2 - kidnapped punisher
In Chinatown, a second-hand store, Jack Chen, a Chinese owner in his forties, graciously entertained Nolan and sat down.
“This, have you ever played “Captain America vs. Aliens”, it’s a good game! Would you like a set?”
“The game also has a movie of the same name, it’s very good! I just received a set with great difficulty, and I’ll sell it to you for $50!”
“And this disc, the ‘Punisher’ game, is very fun! And it’s said to be a reality adaptation, that’s what…”
“Frank Custer.”
“That’s right, it’s based on Frank Custer’s personal experience! Let me tell you, what kind of Frank is, he’s not an ordinary person, oh, hey hey, the whole family was killed by the enemy… “
As Boss Chen said, he hurriedly put things into the bag, for fear that Nolan would reject these unsellable second-hand goods.
“Dad, you are fooling people again!”
A young and beautiful Chinese woman stuck her head out at the corner of the stairs.
“Is it worthy of your conscience if you don’t kill foreign devils?”
Boss Chen turned around and cursed in Chinese, then greeted Nolan with a smile:
“A total of one hundred and seventy-five knives, I’ll put a zero for you, can one hundred and seventy knives be okay?!”
Nolan picked up the bag and threw a few banknotes on the table: “Two hundred dollars, don’t look for it.”
“Hey, thank you for your patronage!” Boss Chen smiled brightly: “Welcome to come again next time!”
After half an hour.
Nolan was sitting in a window seat of a restaurant called “MR.LI”, holding a gilded menu in a daze:
“Is it better to eat General Tso’s chicken or Li Hongzhang’s chopped offal today?”
Just as he raised his hand and was about to let the waiter come over, a sudden gust of fragrant wind swept across. When he came back to his senses, a girl with a pretty face sat down lightly on the opposite side.
“Hello, my name is Chen Wan, you can also call me Lilith Chen,” Chen Wan politely extended her hand: “We just met in the store, Jack Chen is my father.”
“Ah, I know.”
To her surprise, Nolan speaks fluent Chinese.
Chen Wan was stunned: “Do you speak Mandarin?”
“It’s nothing, ‘A foreigner, don’t kill Bai, don’t kill’?”
Nolan imitated her father’s way of speaking, which made Chen Wan’s face turn crimson gradually, and quickly took the menu:
“What do you want to eat, as an apology, I invite you!”
While waiting for the food to be served, the two gradually began to talk.
Chen Wan just came from China and studied at a nearby university.
Many Chinese people in the United States communicate in English. She seldom speaks her native language except with a few Chinese friends who study with her.
Being able to hear pure Mandarin from a foreigner’s mouth made Chen Wan feel more cordial.
“How did you learn Chinese? I heard that it is difficult for foreigners to learn.”
Chen Wan poked aimlessly at a piece of chicken with a fork and asked with great interest.
“When I was young, I used to live for a while in Jiangnan Province, China.”
Chen Wan’s eyes lit up: “Really? Where did you live before? I’m also from Jiangnan Province and came here to study!”
“Boom-!!!”
Just as Nolan was about to speak, there was a deafening explosion from outside!
The car alarms on the street sounded ‘dropping’ sirens one after another, and the pedestrians on the street subconsciously hugged their heads.
“Look! The building opposite is on fire!”
With scattered exclamations, people in the restaurant poured out one after another, and the side of the burning building quickly filled with onlookers.
Some people took out their mobile phones and started making calls, while others held them high, probably shooting a video.
This is a building with 30 to 40 stories high. It may have been an apartment or an office building, but it has changed beyond recognition.
Most of the windows upstairs were emitting black smoke, and there were fires in a few places; the crowd watching downstairs could vaguely hear one or two miserable howls.
Looking at the fire upstairs, Chen Wan couldn’t help but worry about the people inside:
“The fire is so big, I don’t know if there are people trapped inside… Li, do you think the firefighters will be able to arrive in time?”
“…Li Li?”
“What about people? It’s strange, he was still here just now…”
——————————————————————————
“Ah!”
After a few seconds of hesitation, Nolan decided to go in and save people.
The whole building was burning, and the billowing smoke made Nolan sneezed a few times.
Fortunately, as a mage, there is no shortage of various resistance methods.
He is now wearing a set of jewelry with +50% fire resistance, and drinking a bottle of fire resistance potion. The normal high temperature and fire can no longer cause substantial damage.
“Insight!”
“Detect life!”
Insight, the original effect in the game was to show the path on the minimap, but now when it is used in reality, a faint blue fluorescence appears in Nolan’s field of vision, as if he can see through the structure of the entire building.
Coupled with the ‘detect life’ that can detect nearby creatures, the situation in this building is immediately clear at a glance.
“Strange, this doesn’t seem to be an ordinary apartment building?”
In his field of vision, the building has a complicated structure; there are quite a few people, and everyone is glowing red in his field of vision.
But these people’s movements and postures don’t seem to be right. They don’t look like ordinary people taking refuge, but more like… in a gunfight?
Listening carefully, the crackling sound of wood burning seemed to be mixed with the sound of popping beans; it was just that the noise of the fire was too loud to cover up the past.
Knowing that there are no ordinary residents here, Nolan wanted to slip away.
After all, he originally came only to save people, and it would be too wrong if he accidentally took a gun.
Just as Nolan was about to retreat, a conversation from not far away made him stop involuntarily:
“Tsk tsk, so what should we do with this ‘hero’?”
“Take it back and let the boss make the decision. Don’t take it lightly, he’s not an ordinary person.”
“You know, the legendary Punisher. Hey, why are you like a dead dog?”
Punisher?
Nolan was taken aback. Hearing the sound of footsteps approaching, he hurriedly applied an invisibility technique to himself, holding his breath and hiding in the corner.
After about half a minute, several disgraced police officers appeared in the field of vision. There were two people walking at the front with HK416, two people walking behind, and the middle person was holding a man in black, who could vaguely see a sack wrapped around his head.
Why are the punishers arrested? In Nolan’s memory, the police should be well aware of the existence of the punisher, and the two parties should maintain a tacit understanding.
No!
In the past six months, Nolan has often dealt with gang members in Hell’s Kitchen, providing treatment for some of them with a conscience, including black people who were shot by the police.
Through the communication with these people, he knew that the HK416 has high performance, but is expensive, and it is impossible for NYPD to fully configure it; especially now that it is only 2005; this gun generally only appears in the hands of security agencies or mercenaries.
These cops are fake!
Then a policeman’s cold humming further verified his idea:
“Whether he is a punisher (punisher) or a savage (brunisher), there is only a dead end for daring to fight against Boss Kim!”
Several fake police officers passed by him, unaware of Nolan huddled in the corner.
After they had walked about ten meters away, Nolan took a deep breath and suddenly attacked from behind:
“Ice Cone!”
Two pale white ice cones as thick as a wrist quickly condensed on his hand!
The next second, with the sound of ‘puchi’, the two fake police officers in the rear just had time to let out a vague whimper ~www.mtlnovel.com~ and collapsed to the ground powerless.
Although these people are not real police officers, they are obviously professionally trained;
The remaining four reacted immediately after the sudden change. Instead of checking the injuries of their teammates, they shot directly at the location where the enemy might be hidden.
However, the thick smoke in the aisle blocked the view, and their strafing was just a futile waste of firepower.
Nolan hid behind the wall at the corner, clenched his hands, quietly watched as a light blue sphere gradually formed between his palms;
After about two seconds, the sphere in his hand suddenly exploded, forming a transparent ripple across the building:
“Peace Art!!”
The bean-like gunshots stopped abruptly, and a wave of laziness spread among the gunmen.
For some reason, they suddenly lost any desire to attack, but wanted to sit down, drink tea and chat.
“Hi! Police uncles, good lunch! Have you eaten yet?”
Nolan walked out of the bunker and greeted several people kindly like a neighbor.
The gunmen felt strange; reason told them that the man in front of him had bad intentions and should shoot directly.
However, the nerve signals seemed to be poorly transmitted, and their hands had no intention of raising the muzzle at all.
The effective time of the calm spell is only thirty seconds; Nolan didn’t waste it, he walked quickly to the two people who were knocked down by the ice pick, and picked up the rifles they fell on the ground:
“Da da da da da!”
Before several fake policemen could break free from the effects of the calming technique, he shot and knocked all four gunmen to the ground.
After doing all this, Nolan helped the collapsed man up and took off his black hood:
“Frank Custer? I think we should talk.”
