The Witch's Anatomical Notes

Ch. 68

Chapter 68

Conversation

Moonlight streamed through the glazed windows of the high tower, casting a silver edge upon the disheveled bed.

Lu Xi’s fingertips ran through Olivia’s silky black hair as the latter curled up on her lap like a contented cat.

She twirled a strand of hair between her fingers. "Are you getting used to the tower?"

"Meditation and coursework occupy all my time." Olivia slightly tilted her head, revealing her swan-like neck. "Even with the title of witch, a newcomer still has to start from the basics."

"What plans do you have for the principality?"

Having gone through a large portion of Olivia’s memories, Lu Xi already had a rough understanding of her current situation.

"Aunt Gwynnie is guarding the Pillarstone Family; news can be delivered by fast horse within a day."

Olivia adjusted her position, burying her face at Lu Xi’s waist. "The Duchess and that fool Kaelde can’t stir up any waves they’re too busy scrambling for power and wealth, forgetting that the army is the true foundation that upholds authority."

Previously, the army had been under the control of Grand Duke Beckett, but now it pledged allegiance to her, the princess.

That was also why she dared to leave the principality with peace of mind.

"What are your plans afterwards? Do you really intend to return and inherit the dukedom?"

A trace of confusion flashed across Olivia’s face.

Before discovering her talent as a witch, her sole ambition had been to inherit the grand duchy, save the Principality of Kolo, and reverse the Beckett Family’s image in the eyes of the commoners.

But after coming to the tower, she found that in the eyes of witches, mortal kingdoms were nothing but a game of sand.

"In the eyes of witches, mortal kingdoms are mere sandbox games," Olivia murmured. "The noble system will eventually be swept into the dustbin of history."

She had once thought that such a change would take at least several hundred or even a thousand years.

Yet the many foreign memories and knowledge she saw when forming the Link had given her new perspectives.

But regardless of the future, the most important thing for now was to ensure that the family and the title did not fall into the hands of that foolish Prince Kaelde.

"So, I think I will still return to the Principality of Kolo. The Star Law Institute prohibits witches from attacking ordinary people at will, and I won’t use witchcraft against the nobles either. But I will find a way to take over the authority of the principality and push forward reforms... As for Kaelde, let him be a loveless breeding machine. After all, the Beckett family’s bloodline still needs him to maintain its lineage."

...

The next day

The two of them opened their eyes almost simultaneously from meditation.

The meditation boost brought by Genetic Resonance made both of them feel a surge of energy, especially Olivia, whose mental strength was lower. Her meditation efficiency had almost doubled.

She also experienced the so-called "deeper connection through physical intimacy" described by the system, a kind of intimacy radiating from the depths of the soul.

This reminded Lu Xi of a cultivation method often mentioned in the cultivation novels from her previous life — dual cultivation.

She tried to find the cause of this Resonance.

In the end, she could only attribute it to the combined effect of physical intimacy, gene exchange, and the system.

Lu Xi didn’t know if this Resonance could be replicated again, but most likely, Olivia would not allow her to try it with any other witch.

At that moment, the door of the dormitory was knocked on.

Knock knock knock!~

Lu Xi opened the door.

"Talia, what brings you here?"

Outside stood Talia, who was about to speak but stopped when she saw Princess Olivia stepping out from behind.

The delicate features, tall figure, and cold aura made this girl from the countryside feel inferior.

"This is Olivia Beckett," Lu Xi introduced. "And this is Talia Bell, whom I’ve mentioned before."

Talia, who had been lowering her head, suddenly looked up in disbelief. "You’re that newly arrived witch!"

"You know her?" Lu Xi asked in confusion.

"Of course." Talia said excitedly. "News about a witch arriving at the Tower of the Four Sages has already spread. It’s just that no one has seen her yet. I didn’t expect she would be..."

As she spoke, Talia’s strange gaze shifted back and forth between the two of them.

Two stunning girls walking out of the same room early in the morning it was obvious they had spent the night together. But wasn’t there only one bed in the dormitory? Could it be...

Suddenly realizing something, Talia’s face flushed bright red, and even her breathing grew heavier.

"Come inside first, we’ll talk."

Pretending not to notice, Lu Xi led the wandering-eyed Talia into the room.

Not long after, Olivia, now dressed in her grey robe, left the dormitory.

Hearing the door close, Talia, who had been holding herself back, immediately rushed in front of Lu Xi.

"Lu Xi, you two actually stayed together?!"

"She’s also become Mentor Fernando’s student, so I was asked to take care of her a bit..."

Seeing Talia’s completely unconvinced expression, Lu Xi pressed a finger against her body leaning forward. "Did you come looking for me so early just to pry into this?"

Only then did Talia remember the purpose of her visit.

"My mental strength has broken through ten."

As she spoke, Talia unfolded her mental strength field, and the fluctuation of apprentice-level mental strength reverberated through the room.

The Silverleaf Awakening Potion had raised her mental strength to 10.3.

"Not bad." Lu Xi nodded. "Do you have a Tier-1 witchcraft model yet?"

Talia pulled up the sleeve of her left hand, and her forearm began to twist, finally transforming into green vines dancing in the air.

"This is my first Tier-1 witchcraft from Symbiotic Mutation, 'Symbiotic Vine Bind.' According to your suggestion, this witchcraft focuses on control. It can bind magical energy up to 13 degrees, and I can barely hold targets below 20 degrees for a few seconds."

The rules of the Tri-Tower Tournament had already been revealed by the tower in advance.

It would be a points competition based on factions within the towers, with an individual champion also selected based on points.

Thus, the participating witches from the three towers would form small groups as their core units.

The winning faction would receive valuable rewards, while the individual champion would earn the opportunity to study under a Star Ring Wizard.

Lu Xi was particularly interested in the latter, so she needed to assemble her own team.

"Did you find any candidates I asked you to watch?"

Talia’s left hand slowly returned to its normal form and was tucked back into her sleeve.

"Yes." Talia nodded. "I recommend our peer Meiwa Ferguson. The symbiotic plant she implanted is an enchanted red vineberry, which provides healing and recovery effects. But her mental strength is only around six points."

Lu Xi pondered for a moment. Naturally, she hoped her team would consist of high-level official apprentices.

But such individuals had long been recruited by other teams. Without revealing her identity as a witch’s disciple, it would be difficult to attract official apprentices.

She took out a bottle of Silverleaf Awakening Potion.

"Tell her that as long as she can raise her mental strength to seven within half a month, this Mental Strength Enhancement Potion will be hers."

The potion drew a sparkling arc in the morning light.

Talia caught it and said playfully, "Consider it done!"
