The Witch's Anatomical Notes

Ch. 66

Chapter 66

Lucifer (Requesting Monthly Tickets)

Every medicinal ingredient swallowed by the mutated brain tumor had been meticulously inscribed with magical energy runes by Lucy during the earlier selection.

As the brain tumor devoured these ingredients, Lucy’s mental strength had already formed a complete master-servant inscription within its body.

These inscriptions connected a portion of the master’s will to the flesh construct, thus achieving control.

When the final rune lit up in its neural center, the rampaging tentacles drooped onto the dissection table like boneless snakes.

The subjugation process went smoother than expected, but Lucy still cautiously maintained the Fractured Crystal Shield.

At Lucy’s command, all the tentacles slowly retracted back into the severed neck.

The floating head also descended back onto the dissection table.

Having completed the first step, Lucy took an organ preservation jar from the shelf. Inside it was her most powerful enchanted organ, the 'Degenerated Dragonkin First Atrium'.

"Assimilate it." She reached into the preservation fluid, retrieved the atrium which had already been stripped of its magical veins, and placed it in front of the head, simultaneously activating the master-servant inscription’s compulsory command.

'Leticia' tilted her head slightly and quickly understood Lucy’s intention.

When the Degenerated Dragonkin heart was completely enveloped, astonishingly, this organ without magical veins began beating again.

Lucy had previously discovered the assimilative properties of the brain tumor, but the last experiment had to be halted midway due to magical energy depletion.

This time, however, the brain tumor, having absorbed a large quantity of medicinal ingredients, contained energy far beyond what a few steaks could supply.

As time passed, twenty-four hourglasses later, the silver dissection table was almost entirely covered by proliferating flesh.

The former tentacles had mutated into wrist-thick primary blood vessels, branching out like plant roots into networks of arteries, veins, and capillaries.

The price for assimilation and proliferation was the consumption of nearly seventy percent of the construct core’s energy. Lucy simply fed it the remaining ingredients entirely.

She watched the changes of the 'construct core' without letting her guard down for even a moment, recording everything in detail.

If the final experiment succeeded, this would surpass conventional constructs, becoming a 'flesh construct' capable of independent thought, assimilation, and evolution.

For the next ten days, Lucy shuttled tirelessly between the Green Vine Garden and the morgue like a machine.

Each day, she purchased medicinal ingredients from Talia to feed the core, while gradually assimilating other enchanted organs.

The brain tumor core successively absorbed the 'Assimilated Dragonkin First Atrium', 'Cradle of Enchanted Human Offspring', 'Banshee Wail Resonance Cavity', 'Magic Rabbit's Fluorescent Cecum', and 'Star Dew Grass Digestive Cavity'...

Although the dissection table still appeared chaotic, its general form was becoming vaguely discernible.

A humanoid flesh construct over two meters tall with wings sprouting from its back. Given the presence of the Cradle of Enchanted Human Offspring, Lucy tentatively categorized its gender as female.

Having acquired wings, 'Leticia' finally managed to gain a semblance of mobility.

However, the appearance of this construct was nightmarish — a beautiful head dragged scattered internal organs connected by tentacles, floating in the air supported by withered wings.

Faced with such a sight, Lucy had no choice but to seal it back into the glass jar.

Staring at Leticia’s indifferent face inside the jar, she suddenly proposed:

"Just calling you Leticia all the time isn't ideal. It's about time to give you a proper name... how about Lucifer?"

The flesh construct naturally had no opinion. It continued to coldly gaze at the world beyond the glass jar, with a look of indifferent arrogance on its face.

The work on the flesh construct was temporarily complete. Lucifer’s core was basically finished, awaiting only future dissections of more enchanted organs to gradually perfect it.

She pulled open the iron gate of Morgue No. 66’s second floor. The metal pipeline inside was completely empty.

Although the second floor provided higher-grade enchanted beast corpses, the quantity was far inferior to the lower levels.

In the ten-odd days since returning to the Tower, she had only dissected two enchanted beast corpses.

Specimen No. 11: “Silk Gland of the Shadow Web Weaver” and No. 12: “Distorted Human Face of the Thousand-Faced Cursed Crow”.

Specimen No. 10

Scientific Name: Abyssal Silk Gland of the Shadow Web Weaver

Dissection Date: Midnight, June 11th, Year 3040 of the Wizard Calendar

Organ Source: Morgue No. 66, Second Floor, West Tower — a semi-corporeal spider residing within the crevices of dreams

Morphological Description: A cluster of deep purple, semi-transparent glands, covered with vascular-like shadow patterns. Liquid nightmares flowed inside.

Aberrant Reaction: Contact with the secreted threads caused temporary paralysis. Any being that touched the threads would briefly fall into a fragmented memory of the thread weaver (mostly fragments of pain or madness).

(Magical Vein Diagram)

Core Magical Vein: Shadow Spiral Magical Vein. Its structure resembled a spider web. The threads were not physical but solidified from "Fear Entropy Energy", capable of extending infinitely according to magical energy.

Application: Restrictive witchcraft.

Specimen No. 12

Scientific Name: Distorted Human Face of the Thousand-Faced Cursed Crow

Dissection Date: Dawn of June 13th, Year 3040 of the Wizard Calendar

Organ Source: Morgue No. 66, Second Floor, West Tower — a cursed bird that fed on stolen human faces, capable of storing five victims’ faces within its beak.

Morphological Description: A constantly writhing "living facial skin", covered with feather-like textures. The positions of the facial features shifted randomly, occasionally revealing expressions of different victims.

Aberrant Reaction: Creatures touched by the facial skin would hear the sound of crows pecking at their own facial skin in their dreams.

(Magical Vein Diagram)

Core Magical Vein: Beneath the facial skin lay the "Thousand-Faced Nest", composed of countless micro beak-like magical veins.

Application: 1. Disguise mask. 2. Medium for the Curses School.

Both dissections were marked as "Standard Experiment", accumulating an additional 42 academic points.

However, the danger posed by second-level lifeforms still left Lucy somewhat shaken.

The "Abyssal Silk Gland of the Shadow Web Weaver" had nearly trapped her in an endless loop of a car crash nightmare, and she only managed to escape thanks to Mentor Fernando’s No. 3 Alchemical Scalpel.

"I must formulate a new resistance potion." Lucy frowned.

The Tower of the Four Sages lacked support from the Potionology School, and related texts were pitifully scarce.

Moreover, what troubled her even more was that the enchanted beast corpses delivered to the morgue were difficult to systematize.

For example, when skeletal and muscular tissues were urgently needed to improve the flesh construct, the mutated parts of the delivered enchanted beasts were always unsatisfactory.

No wonder the 'Pale Scalpel', a legendary Star Ring Wizard specializing in anatomy, had chosen to leave the Tower to collect enchanted organs after advancing to senior apprentice in his youth.

However, standing on the shoulders of giants, Lucy did not need to follow this legendary Star Ring Wizard's path.

She had a more efficient and simpler solution: mastering High Elvish would allow her to read Traveling with Migratory Birds and, according to the distribution maps of enchanted beasts in the book, selectively hunt the required organs.

This was not a difficult task for Lucy, who possessed the system.

At that moment, hurried footsteps echoed from the corridor outside the morgue.

Then came the voice of Cohen Ruiz, the second-floor morgue administrator and Tier-6 apprentice wizard.

"Attention all apprentices of the West Tower, a batch of contaminated corpses is expected to arrive in approximately thirty minutes."

After a brief silence, a series of door-opening sounds followed.

Lucy also opened the door and walked out, joining the stream of people gathering in front of the West Tower’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

Downstairs, packhorses were pulling carts into the desolate courtyard before the West Tower’s main entrance.
