The Witch Hunter System

Chapter 1048: Eyes on the Evernight Territory

Although the power of the Outer Being displayed during the Celestial Federation's calamity was horrifying, the purpose of revealing such information was only to educate everyone, not frighten them.

After all, the event had happened long ago, and yet Pangea still survived. In all likelihood, the Outer Beings had already left and were no longer around.

"Fear not, people of United Pangea Federation. The Outer Beings are truly horrifying existences, but they are no longer around. The threats we currently have to face are not the Outer Beings themselves but the scourges they left behind," AI Pangea's synthetic voice sounded on screen.

Shortly after, AI Pangea began introducing a new type of Outer Being, which was countless times weaker than true Outer Beings but still very threatening due to their immortal-like nature and seemingly bottomless energy.

"Through a preliminary investigation and research, we believe the creature Lord Vaan found on the moon and the creatures lurking in the Celestial Belt are a new species of Outer Beings, which we are currently calling Sentinels," AI Pangea introduced.

"That said, although we regard these Sentinels as a new species of Outer Beings, they only possess a minuscule fraction of true Outer Beings' power. As such, there is no need to be concerned."

"These Sentinels are immortal-like existences and possess seemingly limitless fuel for power, making them very difficult to defeat. However, it is not impossible. Lord Vaan has defeated them before, and we, too, will be able to in the near future," AI Pangea encouraged.

Once the Sentinels were introduced, AI Pangea went on to draw the world's attention toward the Celestial Belt, a new frontier and an immense vault with vast and priceless resources.

"As long as we clear the hidden Sentinels from this vast space region, this immense resource vault will be ours to claim. However, the government of monopolizing this treasured zone," AI Pangea stated.

Once the threat was eliminated, the Celestial Belt would be open to anyone or any company with space-travel licenses and mining rights. As long as they could afford it, anyone could freely mine resources from the Celestial Belt.

The government would not try to restrict or control anyone's freedom in this new space-mining business. In fact, the government would be more than happy just to sit back and enjoy the benefits brought in by the sales of the mining rights and taxation.

By doing this, the government would be able to pass on the burden of space mining development to interested and new companies while making them happy.

Furthermore, the government would be able to focus its funds and manpower on other areas of development.

Unfortunately, the United Pangea Federation's space development was still in its infancy. As such, few wealthy tycoons or large corporations were capable of investing in this new market.

Nevertheless, this was not a cause of concern for the government. The situation would steadily improve over time with the world's current rapid development.

The option was simply there for the early birds with financial power to grab hold of.

It didn't matter who made money from the new space-mining business; the United Pangea Federation government, as the landowner, would profit regardless. It was a win-win situation for everyone.

In this age of development, large amounts of funds were required for any mega development projects. As such, it was important to know how to use money. However, it was even more important to understand how to use people.

Money does not create wealth; people do.

Despite the prospects of the space-mining business due to the Celestial Belt's rich resources, people began signing petitions to the UPF Government to focus its development on the Gehenna frontier instead.

The people's fear of Outer Beings had led them to lean towards Chaos, which was also the direction Vaan intended.

After all, even though Chaos had its own set of challenges, it still had better prospects than gambling everyone's future on the uncertainties of the Other Beings' visitation.

It would only take a single visit from the Outer Beings for everything on Pangea's side to be lost.

As such, land reclamation and development on the Gehenna frontier were of utmost importance.

Although Vaan became the undeniable leader of the Unified Pangea Federation, he did not assume the formal position of president but passed it to Astoria, who received the most votes out of the chosen candidates.

Naturally, most of her voters were Solaran-favored citizens, while Darkans like Henrietta were less popular and were even discriminated against. Despite receiving many votes from the Divine Serpent Region, Astoria still won by a landslide.

Undoubtedly, the Solaran group was the most well-liked ethnic group of them all.

That said, Henrietta still managed to become vice president. Surprisingly, yet unsurprisingly, the most unpopular candidate for president was Aeliana. While many people respected her, they also feared the future she offered them.

Of the development plans suggested on the Gehenna frontier, the Evernight Territory became the hottest wish for development. After all, it already had many existing human cities.

Moreover, many Pangean Humans were interested in the concept of blood currency.

With the rapidly growing popularity of spirit energy cultivation, all spirit energy cultivators possessed superior blood quality and healing factors compared to ordinary people.

As such, everyone thought they could easily accumulate wealth and thrive in the Evernight Territory, the home of the vampires.

Unfortunately, their thinking was flawed. It was only true if a few spirit energy cultivators thought of it. However, if everyone had the same idea, their influx of blood exchange would crash the value of blood currency.

Blood only had value when it was in demand. The influx of supply would reduce its value to nothing.

Such a situation would not help humans but greatly benefit vampires. In fact, the Evernight Territory would become a heavenly paradise for them.

Fortunately, free travel between Pangea and the Evernight Territory hasn't opened yet. As such, Pangean Humans weren't able to flood into the Evernight Territory legally.

The differences in cultural practices made it quite dangerous for regular Pangean Humans to live in the Evernight Territory.

After all, the UPF's administrative influence had not solidified in this region yet, not to mention the Celestial Dragons had already moved into this new territory beforehand, causing a fluctuation in blood currency.

Moreover, the Celestial Dragons did not look kindly upon weaklings. As such, the Evernight Territory presently didn't have the luxury to accept more people.

It already had its hands full dealing with the arising problems between the Celestial Dragons and Vampires.
