Disturbance
Chapter 64 Disturbance
Lucia observed as the wolves organized themselves into three teams: one in front, one in the middle, and one at the back. A few wolves remained behind, most likely the more skilled ones, seeing the situation as trivial and a learning opportunity for the younger wolves. Nonetheless, they still participated in the intimidation, their growls filled with bloodlust. Lucia felt excitement build within her as she sensed the bloodlust and tension in the air created by the wolves. Knowing that their menacing gazes were not directed at her, she remained calm.
Lucia could feel the experience imparted to her as she watched the wolves prepare for the imminent battle. Even though she only saw it as entertainment, she still believed it could provide practical experience for her in the future. The wolves pounced on their target in a well-coordinated attack. Lucia was confident that the fight would end in an instant. She was right, but it wasn't her side that won. The wolves suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Lucia completely forgot about the matter they were discussing. In an exaggerated display of shock, she shouted, jumping to conclusions, "Wait, what? Huh? Why would they collapse like that after taking down their adversary? Did they collapse because they were exhausted or something?" After the short and anticlimactic battle, Lucia watched some wolves sent to treat the collapsed wolves. The strange glow coming from the wolves' treatment piqued Lucia's interest. She wanted to go down there and see up close what caused it, wishing to learn the intricacies that made up the luminescence. She decided to make her way to the area to check for herself. She felt the mana of a familiar presence as she drew near where the battle took place.
As Lucia thought back to where she remembered sensing this mana signature, she instantly realized it belonged to Aleshia. Worry washed over her as she muttered, "So that was her. Hopefully, she wasn't gravely wounded since I can heal her if it isn't too bad." Lucia began to doubt her theory, hoping that the intruder wasn't Aleshia. As she rounded the tree where the wolves had pounced, to her dismay, she confirmed that it was indeed Aleshia's mana. Lucia quietly tried to disguise the mana Aleshia had left behind, hoping to make the wolves lose her trail if they found it. After successfully hiding the trace, Lucia whispered to herself, "Alright, so where could she have run off to?"
