The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 467: Why We Belong Together

(From Blue's Perspective)

That night, just like Dem said, there were two hundred knights on the mansion ground. I was surprised they could fit in there.

The way Perita and Calix were checking each of them was concerning, but it was necessary. They knew every face and everything about every single knight. Dem was there too. He was observing their behavior from afar.

"That is quite King Demetrius type of thing, isn't it?" Evan muttered. We were watching everything from one of the library windows.

More maids were brought from the palace too. Ruby knew all of their faces, so she was the one checking them.

"He is very protective," I said. "It is better to have a husband overprotective than a husband who doesn't care."

"What about a husband who is protective just enough? Not too much, not too less?"

"Well, that is a very healthy type of man, however, I sometimes feel like I crave for some toxic traits," I chuckled. "So, I am not sure if that type of man, the green flag man would be okay for me."

"You sound like a red flag yourself."

"I guess I am."

I stared at my man through the window. He was really handsome. It was kind of crazy how I got to have a man like him, a man who most girls dreamt of.

"Red flags should never get with others. If red flags are together, they balance each other out and it is less toxic. However, when they are with a green flag, it will scare the green flag and that relationship turns way too toxic," I added.

"You are not wrong. However, I cannot actually agree with this completely. First of all, your remark sounds very unhealthy. I cannot agree to this, you know. It hurts my morale," he said. "Secondly, I do not believe a red flag will always turn into a toxic relationship with a green flag."

"That doesn't make sense," I said. "It is not as easy as you think. Ask me how I know."

"… Our thoughts don't work in the same way. I still believe a green flag can influence a red flag's thinking and they might not turn to their twisted ways."

"Yes, they can influence, but influence only, nothing more. They cannot change a red flag. That's my point. That's what I am trying to tell you. Changing personality or any kind of behavior depends on the very person, not someone else. Sometimes, some like influence is not enough."

"I won't argue about it with you as our points vary too much," he said. "In my eyes, the relationship between King Demetrius and you is toxic, however, not entirely in a bad way. There is no physical violence on any of your sides. He is physically powerful, while you are a powerful dark mage. The palace would have been destroyed by now in that case.

However, there is this psychological problem between you two and sometimes, I believe, it is more dangerous than getting physical. One is possessive, overly jealous, and obsessive. And the other is mildly obsessive, has a trauma of physical and mental abuse, and is too simple when it comes to relationships.

Blue, do you think, as a neutral person, that it is okay to form a romantic relationship between these two people? No, let me tell you more."

"I know it all, Evan…"

But he continued.

"The man wanted the woman she was eleven or twelve and he was eighteen or seventeen. But he was not in his right mind. He was being controlled by his dear mother and a dark mage, who also happened to be the girl's biological father and wanted the girl for her power. That is the reason he manipulated the man's mother and made him control her.

The man's mother was a black-eyed female werewolf, who killed a dark mage and absorbed their power."

"Thus, she gained the power to control minds which only dark mages possess. The man's mind has been controlled for seven years at least.

But when the woman turned eighteen and he went to bring her to his world and make her his Queen, he almost broke free from the control of his mother, thanks to the woman's power which was awakened by another werewolf who did not want his rival king to get more power and wanted to marry the woman himself for more power. He had a fight with the man and lost, so he decided to not try anymore."

"The man, being now a free man who could think properly, fell for the girl right then and decided to make her his Queen without knowing why he wanted the same all these years. He did make her his Queen and after the marking process was complete, he broke free completely from his mother's control and started to question everything. Thus, the relationship begins.:

"I know I will not get an honest answer from you. Well, I am just rambling because I always wanted to point it out to you. No matter what you think, or what kind of life you are leading, the reality is as I stated. You both are pitiful, but my dear friend, sometimes, pity is not something that can excuse someone for being something negative and something that is generally inexcusable.

However, since you both look so happy, I will not say that you two should break up. I believe you two will be together forever because both of you have an obsessive side, less on your side while extreme on King Demetrius's side. I wish you two happiness with all my heart and will always wish so, especially for your happiness because you are my friend while King Demetrius is the husband of my friend.

You come first. I wish you always remain happy. I always will wish so."

What Evan said was not a lie, but what I said was not as well. Dem's and my relationship was toxic, but I believed, it was a good thing that we did not get together with someone else. Both of us had a past that could break anyone and we had some twisted thoughts that none but ourselves could tolerate and consider to be quite normal.

Yes, Dem and I belonged together. We would have made other peoples' lives miserable only if we got together with them.
