The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 461: Good News From The Palace

(From Blue's Perspective)

Evan got better in the course of four days to my relief. And I also got a letter from Dem to who I had written about Evan's health and all the other things that were going on around me.

Dem was very angry that I spent taking care of Evan along with the maids and scolded me a lot in the letter. I could not calm down until Evan got better, so I helped the maids a bit take care of him. Besides, it was not just me. Ruby, Calix, and Perita helped as well. Doctor Dimitri had been checking up on his health constantly.

Flint, in the meantime, took care of all the affairs that came from the palace. That was why he was the person I came across less in the mansion.

"How is King Demetrius's situation now?" Evan asked. Although he had gotten better, the doctor told him to still not leave the bed much since there was a chance of him getting dizzy suddenly and it could lead to a serious situation if someone was not near.

"He says everything is under control. But he suspects that it will be hard for them in the next couple of days," I replied.

"Hasn't he scolded you about taking care of me?"

"… He did not actually scold me. He just told me to take care of myself more," I lied. I could not bear to say something so hateful to him. Dem was not a considerate person, but I was and I wished to maintain that side of me, even if I had to lie sometimes.

Evan was going to say something more when Flint burst into the room suddenly. I despised it greatly when he did not ask for permission.

"Flint! You cannot disrespect someone like that!"

"My apologies, Your Highness. But it was urgent," he said.

I noticed he had an envelope in his hand and just by taking a look at it, I was certain that it had come from the palace.

"Is something wrong?"

"Well, I would not say so. But you need to hear this news right now," he said and hastily put the envelope in my hands.

The envelope was open and I did not understand the point of putting the letter again in the envelope when Flint had opened the envelope and read the letter already. Nevertheless, I let it pass as there were more pressing matters at hand and I needed to satisfy my curiosity first.

The letter was sent by the beta who was taking care of the things in the palace. He directed it to me but I told Flint to open the letters sent to me from the palace and read it first and to direct it to me if it was important.

The letter surprised me and gave me one of the best news I could get these days.

"You are smiling. I suppose it's there is some sort of good news," Evan said.

"Good news? It is excellent news!" I said, grinning ear to ear. "Abel has woken up! Can you believe it? It is such amazing news! He was expected to wake up sooner, but when he was not, I got so anxious… But he has gotten up now!"

"Isn't that the knight who was taken with you?" Evan asked.

"Yes, that is him. He was tortured so badly… It is really a disgusting feeling when you find out someone has been through hell because of you. I hate this feeling. Now, I can at least comfort myself as both Reece and he is at least alive."

"What is his condition now? I suppose it is a letter from the beta."

"It is. Kenzo said Abel woke up yesterday at midnight and threw a tantrum, looking for me. He was then informed of the situation and my safety now. He is resting now and wants to meet me, which Kenzo informed him to be impossible. I will ask Demetrius if it would be okay to bring Abel here. I also want to see him myself."

"King Demetrius will refuse," he said.

"Oh, come on, you do not know him that well," I said. "There is a possibility he might say yes because Abel is trustworthy."

"Your Highness, the fewer people here, the better. Precisely saying, the fewer sick people here, the better," Flint said. "Realistically speaking, sick people are actually a burden that we do not want in this moment of crisis."

"That is not a nice thing to say, but you are not entirely wrong," I said.

"I agree with Flint on this," Evan said. "I think, a safe place that is not here, is better for Sir Abel. Someone will be able to take care of him there, but here, the maids need to take care of you and King Demetrius is against bringing more maids as he cannot trust many people and he has a point."

I thought for a while. What Flint and Evan said was not wrong. I was just thinking with my heart only without using logic. It was not like me, as I never was this much emotional. I decided to ask Dem first before making a decision. I would mention Flint and Evan's points to Dem as well.

That night, when I went to freshen up before bed, I got a very bad cramp. I felt like my whole existence was withering away. The pain was so bad that I could not even scream. It was hard to breathe.

I sat down on the floor slowly, clutching my stomach with both of my hands. Doctor Dimitri told me to try to relax during cramps and try to balance my breathing. I tried to do so, although it was very hard.

At night, I slept alone, although, during the daytime, a lot of people were with me. I assumed I would not be able to call anyone from there as the bell was in the bedroom and I was in the bathroom. So, I was very surprised when the bathroom door burst open and Ruby came in as if she knew what was going on. Her room was not even near mine.

"Oh my goodness, Your Highness! Are you okay?"

I could not answer through the pain. She called my knights and the doctor. Calix carried me to bed and Doctor Dimitri started checking my body as he came within two minutes. The cramp was very bad and I was not ready for it at all. All the cramps I previously had were not half as bad.

I was very anxious. I had experienced a miscarriage before, so my anxiousness did not calm down until the doctor come to any kind of statement.

"Nothing is abnormal," Doctor Dimitri said after ten minutes.

"But why was the cramp so bad?" Ruby asked. "It looked like Her Highness was in deadly pain."

"Are you still in pain?" Evan asked. He was called as well. Basically, everyone in the mansion was now in my bedroom.

"No, at least now as much as before. That time, it was hard to even breathe, let alone say anything," I said. "But now I can talk, you see."

"The cramp was surely severe, as it can be seen. However, there is nothing wrong with Your Highness, or the baby. Your Highness's uterus is growing and expanding in order to accommodate the baby. Because of this, it is very normal to get cramps. They are kind of similar to menstrual cramps and even if you did not have a cramp this bad, be assured that it is perfectly normal," Doctor Dimitri explained.

"I see… But I really felt like I was dying."

"It might be normal, however, summon me every time it happens," he said.

"I will. Thank you."

When I sent a letter to Dem the next time, I never imagined I would not get a reply for a week. Then, I sent a letter to Luc, who sent me a reply the very next day.

It was only a note and contained only one line.

Just wait a bit.
