Chapter 45: The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [45]
"Lumine, take care of those crossbow-wielding Hilichurls over there."
Standing near the outskirts of Dadaupa Gorge, Jia Changjiang directed Lumine before charging toward a towering Mitachurl wielding a massive wooden shield. "And leave this shield-bearer to me!"
"Got it!"
With a flick of her wrist, Lumine summoned blades of wind, sending them flying toward the distant crossbow Hilichurls.
Meanwhile, Jia Changjiang hefted his battle axe and brought it down in a devastating arc, embedding it deep into the Mitachurl's shield. Though the hulking Hilichurl stumbled back several paces, it successfully absorbed the brunt of the attack.
However, before the creature could recover, Jia Changjiang drew a smaller, gleaming white iron axe from seemingly nowhere.
The Mitachurl barely registered the weight of its shield lightening before it splintered under the second axe's strike, leaving the creature bewildered. It didn't have time to comprehend its predicament before Jia Changjiang's heavy axe cut off any further thought.
Within moments, Lumine and Jia Changjiang had completely cleared the Hilichurl camp.
"Mr. Jax! Your tools are so versatile!"
Paimon zipped around Jia Changjiang excitedly. "They can dig tunnels, smash through those big shields, and you can pull them out of thin air just like Lumine does with her stuff!"
"Haha, just some handy tools," Jia Changjiang replied, putting away the white iron axe. "But the key is using the right tool for the job at the right time. That's how you get the best results."
Turning to Lumine, he added, "Want me to make some for you too? I've got extras."
"Really? Thank you," Lumine replied with a nod.
As they continued onward toward Dadaupa Gorge, Jia Changjiang led the charge, clearing the path while Lumine and Paimon lingered behind, deep in conversation.
"Paimon, have you noticed something… unusual about Mr. Jax?" Lumine asked.
"Yeah! I was just about to say that," Paimon replied, counting on her fingers. "He's a lot like you, isn't he? Pulling out all sorts of strange items, having weird powers… Lumine, do you think he's from another world too?"
"I don't know him, and I can't say for sure if he's from another world," Lumine said, frowning slightly. "But does it really matter? He doesn't seem like a bad person."
"Exactly! Plus, he treated us to food!"
"And his tools are incredibly practical…"
"Right?! They're so cool!"
"And when we work on commissions together, I can slack off, and he still splits the rewards evenly with me… He's definitely a good guy!"
"Hey! That's not fair!" Paimon protested.
After dealing with the remaining Hilichurls nearby, Jia Changjiang and Lumine climbed to a vantage point overlooking Dadaupa Gorge.
From their elevated position, they could see a large sword graveyard at the gorge's center. Three pathways branched out from it, leading to the three distinct Hilichurl tribes: the Meat Lovers to the north, the Sleepy Tribe to the south, and the Black Sun Tribe to the east—their current target.
"Lumine, see that tribe over there?" Jia Changjiang pointed toward the Black Sun Tribe's encampment. "That's where we're heading today. There are a lot of Hilichurls, but with our strength, they shouldn't pose a problem. We'll charge in, grab Dvalin's tear, and get out."
"Understood. But… is that a Hilichurl too?"
Lumine pointed toward the Black Sun Tribe's camp, where a creature hovered near a bonfire. It was slender, shrouded by a watery elemental shield, and its chanting echoed faintly.
"Hm?"
Jia Changjiang's eyes narrowed. "An Abyss Mage… in the Black Sun Tribe?"
"That's an Abyss Mage?" Lumine squinted at the floating figure. "It doesn't look all that strong."
"Don't underestimate it," Jia Changjiang warned. "That's a Hydro Abyss Mage. Its elemental shield can significantly weaken any attacks against it. Until the shield is broken, it'll be tough to deal real damage."
"Wind might weaken its shield, but it's a slow process…"
"Then how about we get Diluc? His Pyro Vision would make short work of it," Paimon suggested.
"No need," Jia Changjiang replied, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Running now would be boring, don't you think? Besides…" His voice dropped to a murmur, and a grin spread across his face. "That explains why the reward is so valuable… So, there's an Abyss Mage here, huh?"
Muttering to himself, he considered his options aloud. "Breaking its shield… Could my axe do it? What if Lumine uses her wind abilities to weaken it first? Would a pickaxe or a smaller tool work better against its shield?"
His excitement was palpable, and Lumine and Paimon exchanged knowing glances.
"Mr. Jax is in his battle-hungry mode again," Paimon whispered, sighing.
"We've seen him like this a few times now," Lumine replied, shaking her head.
Suddenly, Jia Changjiang's expression lit up as he remembered something.
"Lumine, let's head to the Black Sun Tribe." His voice brimmed with confidence. "We're taking down that Abyss Mage and claiming Dvalin's tear!"

Within the Hilichurl camp, the Hydro Abyss Mage hovered near the bonfire, chanting its incantations. A sudden wave of unease washed over it, and it glanced toward the horizon.
The ground shook with a thunderous crash moments later.
Peering through the gaps in the Hilichurl huts, the Abyss Mage spotted a towering human wielding a massive battle axe. Jia Changjiang stood triumphantly atop a fallen Mitachurl, laughing arrogantly in the camp's center.
But what made the Abyss Mage's heart truly race wasn't the man with the axe—it was the figure trailing behind him.
"The blood of His Highness… Why is it here?!"
