S1E10 – Waking Up
As I slowly awaken, I look around to find myself inside of an RV. I sit up suddenly, and wince in pain as my side aches from my wound. I’m immediately beset by an intense headache. My entire body is completely exhausted. My throat is absolutely parched, and my stomach rumbles like crazy. Looking down at myself, I find a medium sized bandage on my stomach and back, and a small one on my face. I’m also only wearing my underwear. My sports bra is covered in blood as well.
Looking around the RV, I notice that it looks very familiar. The layout and everything honestly. Looking to my left, I see a set of clothes placed on the end table. Including underwear! I quickly get changed into the new clothes, a navy blue button-up shirt made out a sort of fake denim material, and a black pair of jeans. My hiking boots are laid by the bed, along with my knee and elbow pads.
Well shit, I didn’t put on my plate carrier before leaving, so that’s gone. Good thing I grabbed others.
After getting dressed, I get out of bed. It’s a little bit more difficult to walk just due to the stiffness, but it’s manageable. As I stand up, I feel something welling up inside of me… I gotta use the bathroom.
After doing that, I look myself in the mirror. On the left side of my chin, there’s a slightly bloodied bandage. Nowhere near as bloody as the one on my stomach, but still. As I step out of the bathroom, I look to the left, finding a small wooden sign reading, “How about a nice cup of shut the fuck up?”
Oh shit. I know this RV. This is Dale’s! I try to contain my glee, and need to sit down as this sudden revelation has made me quite light headed. Suddenly, I get bombarded by messages,
[Human x2 - 200p]
[STR +1]
[Quest Completed: Kill a Human: You may be reluctant, but unfortunately, this will become commonplace for you. It is better to get used to it earlier rather than later.]
[Rewards: 500p, Psychological Strength 3, Weapon Crate (Bronze), Ammo Crate (Bronze), Sixth Sense 1]
[Balance: 770p]
I end up laying my head down on the table in front of me, trying to stop the headache from the sudden blue lights in my eyes. I hear someone walking towards the RV, and then taking the ladder up to the top. First, I’ll get my shit sorted, then I’ll go out.
First things first, let’s open up those crates! I go into my inventory and double tap the crates.
[Weapon Crate (Bronze): 1x Mosin Nagant, 1x S&W Thunder Ranch (.45 Revolver), 1x M48 Cyclone Dagger, 1x Wood Axe, 1x Bronze Gladius]
[Ammo Crate (Bronze): 10x 20rnd 7.62x54r Box, 10x 50rnd .45acp Box, 15x 50rnd 9mm Box, 20x 50rnd .22lr Box, 50x Wooden Arrow]
Holy shit. If this is what comes out of a bronze box, I can’t wait to see what I get from a silver or gold box! I take out the Mosin and find a beautiful bolt action rifle. The wood is clean and rich in color, the grains standing out in a beautiful pattern. The steel is a dark black, contrasting nicely with the wood. I pull back the bolt and take out a round, loading it in the chamber before loading it back up. Storing that, I pull out the Thunder Ranch. It’s also all black, and it seems to be a bit of a shorter barreled gun. Not snub nose, but not full either. I load that up with six .45 rounds, and store it away.
Next, I pull out the dagger. Looking at it, the blade is actually three separate blade twisted together to make a spiral. Obviously, it’s not a cutting weapon. The blade is actually pretty thick, meaning it should be pretty sturdy. It also came with a scabbard, so that’s good. Looking at the axe, it appears to just be a regular wood cutting axe. Nothing special. The gladius on the other hand, has a wooden handle and shimmers slightly with an orange-red sheen. It’s absolutely gorgeous to look at. This one didn’t come with a sheath or scabbard, so that’s a bit unfortunate. It’s also unfortunate that it’s made of bronze and not steel, but I guess beggars can’t be choosers.
Alright. Now to look through the store.

Not much new to buy. I definitely learned my lesson from last time. I need to get [Fist Fighting] and [Grappling} before anything else.
[Fist Fighting 1 - Sometimes, you will find yourself in combat with no weapons at hand. At that point, you may need to defend yourself with punches, kicks, or anything else. You have learned the basics of hand to hand combat.]
[Grappling 1 - If someone has you on the ground, it can be tricky to reverse the situation against them. You have learned the basics of ground movement, unskilled holds, and how to escape unskilled holds.]
[Balance: 420p]
I would also get [Rifle Shooting], but I think [Walker Sense] would be far more useful for now. Reason being, at the start we’ll be facing walkers more often than humans, and walkers can be pretty sneaky funnily enough. Not as sneaky as humans, but still.
I look up at the sky and take a deep breath. Time to meet the cast!

AN: From this chapter on, ammo will no longer show in Penny’s inventory. She’ll basically always have ammo, and I don’t wanna keep up with it.
