Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Please help me
'I'm so tired…'
Lucifer had been walking for a few hours, the sun was now at its zenith, indicating that it was midday. Since his body had not yet fully recuperated, Lucifer had to stop every hour to rest for a while.
Even when using Shadow Movement, Lucifer still had to stop to rest before he could continue moving forward.
Just an hour ago, Lucifer had found a large lake with crystal clear water. Thanks to that, his thirst had completely disappeared and his body had also become cleaner after a few days without bathing.
Although it was regretful, Lucifer still had to say goodbye to the lake.
Fortunately, other than the three monsters he had encountered before, Lucifer had not encountered any other monsters up to now. Sometimes he even mistook harmless animals for sickening monsters.
'I almost killed some harmless animals…'
Just now, Lucifer almost killed a family of rabbits because they were making rustling noises in a bush. Lucifer thought it was a monster until he checked the bush.
Another day had passed.
***
It was now the second morning since Lucifer conquered the cliff. After a night of sleep, Lucifer's body had completely recovered from the injuries. However, his right arm was still a bit difficult to control, so it probably needed more time to get better.
Other than the lake he found yesterday, he still hadn't found any lakes, rivers, or streams yet. This made Lucifer felt a little disheartened.
Another two days had passed.
***
It was now the fourth day since Lucifer conquered the cliff. His entire body had completely recovered, and because of that, Lucifer was able to move even at night to save more time.
Up until now, Lucifer still couldn't find a source of water to drink. Because of that, his thirst was returning. In the worst case, Lucifer would have to drink animal blood again.
He shivered as he recalled the stomach ache he had experienced the night he drank the deer's blood. If possible, he didn't want to experience such pain again.
Lucifer's steps were no longer as steady as before, he almost fell several times due to fatigue, hunger, and thirst.
After walking for a while, Lucifer stopped at a rather steep slope. Now he had to walk down that slope, but it was still quite threatening even for Lucifer - who had successfully conquered a vertical cliff.
'I don't know if I should wait until it gets dark or go down right now. But it's only dawn now.'
After pondering for a while, Lucifer had decided to go down the slope right now. He didn't want to waste time waiting for the night to come and he also believed that he could do it.
That was a big blunder.
After walking for about 100 steps, Lucifer suddenly tripped over a rock. This caused him to keep on rolling down the steep slope without being able to stop.
Lucifer could feel his body being scratched and blood flowing all over his body. But he couldn't pause. There was nothing for him to hold on to on this slope, the ground was too slippery and there was no darkness to use Shadow Movement here.
With no other choice, Lucifer had to put his faith in his own endurance, praying that his body wouldn't be too badly injured.
***
After rolling for more than 5 minutes, Lucifer's body finally stopped rolling. But in return, his entire body was sore. He could no longer move, at least for the next hour.
Since he had been up for two nights, sleepiness was quickly approaching Lucifer. He tried to clench his teeth to endure it, but it was completely useless.
Lucifer knew that if he slept now, there was a high chance that he would be attacked by monsters or dangerous animals in the forest. Even though he knew that, he still couldn't resist the drowsiness that was getting closer to him.
Suddenly, Lucifer heard a few barking dogs and footsteps approaching him.
"What's going on here?"
An old man's voice rang out.
Lucifer didn't care if that man was a good or bad person. Now, if he wanted to live, he had to get help from him. With all his remaining strength, he tried to say a cry for help:
"Please help me..."
Then, Lucifer fell asleep instantly. Leaving his fate in the hands of that old man.
***
'Where am I?'
When he opened his eyes again, Lucifer realized that he was somewhere completely covered in white. He couldn't be sure if he was dead or not.
Lucifer didn't know how long he had slept, but the important thing now was to find a way out of this strange place.
Lucifer started moving aimlessly, he didn't know where his destination was, but he believed that if he tried, he would find a way out. After all, hard work never betrayed someone.
Suddenly, Lucifer noticed a group of people consisting of people who seemed to be around his age, meaning around 15 years old. They were huddled together and chatting happily. Seeing this, Lucifer immediately rushed towards them.
"Hey!"
Lucifer shouted to attract the attention of the others.
As he expected, after hearing the scream from afar, the group of people suddenly stopped and turned towards Lucifer with expressionless faces. This made Lucifer feel a little creepy.
In that group of people, Lucifer could see a girl with green hair. A boy wearing glasses with an intellectual look. A muscular boy who looked trustworthy. A girl with blonde hair and a cold face. And many others.
Then, the group of people spoke in unison, loud and clear enough so that Lucifer could hear:
"Please help us."
'Huh?'
Lucifer didn't understand what was happening and what they were trying to convey. But right after that, all of those people vanished into nothingness and the place he was in immediately shook violently.
***
Lucifer opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on a soft bed in a room made entirely of wood.
Lucifer attempted to sit up while his body was still a little sore. He glanced around the wooden room. It wasn't very special, there was only a bed, a wardrobe, a table, a chair, and a window.
There were many trees outside, but there weren't any other houses. It seemed like the house he was staying in was still located in this forest.
'Where am I?'
Lucifer was feeling very confused. The reason was because the world in the novel he wrote was set in a futuristic world, where everything was very modern and convenient.
But the room he was staying in had an ancient style, which didn't fit in a world where technology had advanced greatly. There were several hypotheses in Lucifer's mind:
First, the owner of this house was poor, extremely poor. He had to live in this place because he had no money to buy a proper house.
Second, the owner of this house was someone who loved old things and couldn't get used to the modern world. That's why he moved to live in this place.
Third, he was a dangerous person with his own goals, so he had to live in a place like this.
But no matter what the reason was, Lucifer still owed the owner of this house a favor. Thanks to that person, he was able to survive after falling asleep.
Suddenly, the door to the room opened. There, an old man with a thick beard was standing there holding a tray of food. Seeing that Lucifer had woken up, he smiled gently.
