Chapter 29 - If You're Mad, Then Why Don't You Try Being the Villainous Noblewoman Yourself?

【Labyrinthos VR Gallery】
[General] DucalFamily’sGlory <- Showed up in the VTuber open session.
(Gif1)
(Gif2)
(Gif3)
Didn’t take off the armor, but ditched the Martial Artist LOL.
Then solo’d three people LOL.
[Comments]
– Don’t talk like you’re the only one who knows, you weeb bastard.
ㄴ (Author) It’s a topic that’s been around in the gallery a few times, are you new?
– Wait, was that guy a -VTuber-?
– Isn’t that the smurf account guy?
ㄴ (Author) Yep.
– Soloing three people is insane LOL.
– Looks like he got healed by the Saint, but still, he’s got talent.
– Didn’t the Mage do most of the work?
===
[General] That guy is disgusting
He abandoned the Martial Artist just to look good in front of the VTuber he simps for.
[Comments]
– He’s good, but definitely not a nice guy.
– You can already tell what kind of person he is from making a smurf account to farm newbies.
ㄴ But if they haven’t been banned yet, doesn’t that mean it’s not a smurf account?
ㄴ Maybe he reset the account and started fresh.
ㄴ Got wrecked in ranked? Feels like a setup LOL.
===
[General] Didn’t think much at first, but upvote if you’re sick of these shit-stirrers
It’s disgusting to bring up old drama, but why are we even talking about VTubers in the Labyrinthos gallery in the first place?
It was already almost confirmed that it’s not a smurf account, and it’s not even ranked play, but people are losing their minds over a simple open session LOL.
One callout post should have been enough, but now they’re spamming the trending posts like mad, it’s so gross.
[Comments]
– Probably lost in the rankings and now doing this LOL.
– Isn’t this just another typical day in the Labyrinthos gallery?
– Those “disciples” are at it again, just salty their master got wrecked.
ㄴ Why bring up disciples now?
ㄴ Are they trying to manipulate public opinion because they lost yesterday? LOL.
ㄴ (Author) Exactly this.
===
[General] Are those “disciples” now targeting regular players?
They drag down the opposing team whenever they lose, but now they’re fabricating posts like crazy because that doesn’t work anymore LOL.
They’re like tabloid journalists dropping celebrity scandals every time an issue pops up.
If you lost, just take the loss and accept the insults, you losers LOL.
[Comments]
– Isn’t that the same guy who backstabbed in the previous match?
– So shady LOL.
– It’s not the disciples, it’s the fans of that VTuber doing this, right?
ㄴ Disciples detected.
ㄴ Whether it’s disciples or fans, is it right to target regular players, you vermin?
ㄴ Stop watching pro leagues all day and go get a life.
– If the Iron Guard guys lose tomorrow, their fan club is probably going to start another narrative LOL.

“Ugh…”
Rion sighed as she read through the posts.
Even though it had already been concluded that it wasn’t a smurf account, there were always people who would find something to nitpick about.
Did Laura even know that she was being dragged into this mess?
“…Probably not.”
For Laura, the number one priority was always the game. If she had some spare time, she might check the forums briefly, or if she needed tips, she might browse community sites while gaming.
‘Besides, Laura doesn’t care what others think about her…’
It wasn’t just that she had a strong mentality—it was like she was in a state of “invincibility” or “immunity” when it came to criticism. Like how an elephant wouldn’t care about what a tiny ant thought.
She never took any damage from others’ badmouthing. In that sense, she was truly made for VTubing. After all, in any profession, having a strong mental fortitude was crucial, and this was even more true for a VTuber.
However, Rion didn’t think having just a strong mentality was necessarily a good thing.
Most people live while being conscious of how others see them. That’s why they wear makeup, dress nicely, mind their tone, and watch their actions.
Of course, Laura did that much too, but she was fundamentally the type who made people adjust to her, not the other way around.
‘…Honestly, she acts like a total heiress.’
Not that Rion could deny the charm of Laura’s attitude. She knew it better than anyone, having been by Laura’s side for so long.
But now, Laura was about to become a VTuber.
“I guess there are three main things we need to do.”
The first was to resolve the bad reputation that Laura had acquired—the “smurf account stomping” accusations. If this wasn’t handled beforehand, it could seriously hurt her image once she debuted.
Rion already had a rough plan on how to handle it.
Now that she would be working as Laura’s manager, she was prepared to draw her sword if it meant protecting her.
The second thing was to get Laura’s VTuber avatar ready. In other words, they needed to find an illustrator.
‘I’m not sure if there’s an illustrator willing to rush things by using the “time acceleration” system, but… I guess as her manager, it’s up to me to figure it out.’
And the third thing was—
“It’s the simplest, but….”
Rion couldn’t help but feel a little worried.
Could Laura really handle it well?
***
After signing the contract, nothing much had changed.
After all, my debut as a VTuber wouldn’t be until next month at the earliest. If the avatar wasn’t ready by then, the debut would just be delayed.
For now, there wasn’t much for me to do.
‘The streaming equipment is all set up.’
The company had provided the gear, and Rion had come over to set everything up for me.
All the streaming software had been installed, and we even did a test stream to make sure everything was working fine. Now, it was just a matter of waiting for the avatar to be completed.
The problem was finding an illustrator, and because of that, Rion had been out of the house more often. She seemed to be running herself ragged trying to track one down.
While I waited, I spent my days playing games.
“Ugh, got matched with a smurf account stomper. Just don’t win.”
As soon as the game started, the Dual Swordsman on my team swung their sword at me.
I dodged the thrust of the Gladiator’s sword and closed in, beheading them in one swift strike.
“They’re trolling. Let’s report them after the game, guys.”
That’s what I told the rest of my party.
I’ve been encountering trolls a lot recently.
The reason was obvious.
—“Hey, did you know you’re getting trashed on the forums?”
—”They’re calling you a smurf account stomper, unnie.”
That’s what Rion told me a little while ago.
I had no idea I was being labeled as a smurf account stomper.
“There are always envious people, whether here or in the other world.”
As a noble beauty and the jewel of the ducal family, I had always been the subject of envy.
Out of the ten years I spent as Laura Iris, three of those were at the Academy.
During that time, I met all kinds of people, and many of them flattered me to my face while talking behind my back.
Some envied my top grades, others my looks, and still others my noble status.
People who can’t stand to see others succeed.
Those types existed even in the fantasy world, so I wasn’t particularly affected anymore.
‘Not that it’s anything special.’
Being trolled was nothing new. I had dealt with it in other games as well, so it didn’t bother me much.
However, all the trolling had slowed down my climb in rank.
[Our Dark Knight ally is annoying, so I’m throwing the game.]
[Can’t believe this smurf account stomper is still playing.]
[Aren’t you embarrassed playing like that?]
[We’re leaving with the Dark Knight. The rest of you, handle it on your own.]
[I really like this Dark Knight.]
[The Dark Knight is amazing, constantly stomping new players.]
[Why did you kill me? I’m reporting you for team killing.]
That’s how it went.
If I killed the troll right away, we’d be down to five players, while the other team would still have six.
Being one player down right from the start was a major disadvantage.
I could compensate for the missing player to a degree, but it was inevitable that our win rate would drop.
I used to win most games 3:0, but recently, we started losing more due to the troll problem.
‘Hmm… How do I deal with this?’
I thought about it for a moment.
A few ideas came to mind. Like changing my in-game nickname.
—“Hey, there’s a name change token in the in-game shop, right? You’d have to spend a little, though.”
—“How about you change your nickname for now?”
It was Rion’s suggestion.
But I shook my head. It wasn’t a fundamental solution.
‘They can just look up my match history anyway.’
Even if I changed my nickname, my match history would still show up.
It might even give the trolls more of an excuse to mess with me. ‘Oh, you changed your name to avoid trolling? Guess our trolling worked! Let’s troll even harder!’
‘Should I just explain myself?’
Maybe I should make a post in the Labyrinthos gallery. Tell them I’m not a smurf account stomper, not a second account, just a well-playing noblewoman. If they’re mad, they should try being a villainous noblewoman themselves.
But no, that wouldn’t work.
People only hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see.
‘For now, the only way is to just push through.’
Whether it’s the trolls or those who look at me with bias, they’re only looking for an excuse. They’re just waiting for any chance to tear someone down.
Even if I weren’t the “Dark Knight,” they would have trolled me for some other reason.
Probably because I’m in the lower tiers of Diamond.
Once I reach the upper tiers of Diamond, where only the truly dedicated players are, I think the chances of running into trolls will drop significantly.
After all, trolling is more about personal grudges than about winning.
But in upper Diamond, the players would be too focused on reaching Challenger to waste time trolling.
‘Still, I should prepare.’
Even though I am the perfect daughter of a ducal family, the world doesn’t always bend to my will. Anticipating things not going as planned is what makes one a true noblewoman.
I briefly opened the replay record.
***
Of course, Rion would take care of my false accusations.
She seemed to have a plan. Rion was diligent and thorough, so I didn’t expect it to reach me in the first place.
Still, Rion wasn’t perfect, nor was she a villainous noblewoman like me, so when the time came, I would step in as the flawless human being that I am.
While I carried on with my usual gaming, I also sharpened my blade just in case.
Would the time for retribution come?
It would be best not to have to draw my sword, but my instincts as a villainous noblewoman told me that I would have to cut down some people.
After all, I was a villainous noblewoman.
It was fate.
[Unnie, can you talk right now?]
As I was preparing “stream content,” Rion suddenly reached out.
[I’ll send you a Discord server invite, come in.]
A hyperlink from Rion popped up.
“What is this?”
[You’re debuting as a VTuber next month, right?]
“That’s right. So, did you find an illustrator?”
[Don’t worry about that. I’ll figure it out somehow. Anyway.]
Rion continued.
[We have a meeting this Saturday. I want you to get to know the people who will be your fellow debut members.]
Hmm?
Fellow debut members?
