Chapter 0 - I Became a Villainess?
The existence of villains, commonly found in comics, animations, and novels. Generally serving as the foundation for the protagonist’s growth, their ultimate fates are invariably miserable. Some die at the hands of the protagonist, some are beheaded on the guillotine before angry mobs, and some commit suicide in despair over their failures…
It’s only natural. After all, being a villain means you’ve done something bad. If you do bad things, you should be punished, and that punishment usually culminates in death. Of course, there are endings where they don’t die but go to prison, become crippled, or are exiled, leaving them alive, but those are miserable in their own way.
The reason I’m giving such a lengthy explanation is simple. All of these stories have become more than just stories to me.
There’s a novel called “The Chronicle of Arsian”. As the name suggests, it’s a novel set on a continent called Arsian, where the protagonist enters an academy in the Parnia Empire, the greatest empire on the continent. There, they encounter the crown prince they’ll eventually be with, numerous other connections, and finally, the villainess who ultimately makes a deal with the devil and burns the continent.
Yes, the villainess. The villainess who competed with the protagonist over the crown prince.
Ariel Walpurgis, the Dark Sorceress. A woman who dyed her once beautifully shining silver hair pitch black and poured out hatred towards the entire world. Her magic erased an entire kingdom without a trace, and the empire suffered such great damage that they had to redraw their maps.
In the end, she fell by the hands of the protagonist who awakened as a saint and the crown prince who awakened as a hero, but the name of Ariel the villainess made the entire continent tremble. And the reason I’m talking about her in such detail is because…
“Miss, it’s time for your meal.”
My contemplation was interrupted by a voice calling from beside me. As I slowly turned my head, I saw the usual expressionless face.
“Is it already that time?”
“Yes. Shall I escort you?”
“Alright.”
As I slowly rose at the maid’s urging, my eyes were suddenly drawn to the mirror placed on one side of the room.
Beautiful, shimmering silver hair, a face that still retained some baby fat but was beginning to show its future shape, and an unmistakable air of someone who had grown up well-fed and well-rested.
“Miss?”
“Hm?”
“Miss, is something the matter? Is there anything…”
“No, it’s nothing. Let’s go.”
The maid noticed something strange about me staring quietly at the mirror and spoke up, but I managed to brush it off somehow.
The reflection in the mirror was exactly as described in the novel. Silver hair and blue eyes, an appearance like a princess straight out of a fairy tale. But all these colors will later be painted over in black, pouring out hatred towards everything in this world.
Ariel Walpurgis. Yeah. Why hide it anymore? I’ve been reincarnated as the so-called villainess of the novel.
