chapter 9
9 – Organization of advisory professors (1)
For a while, the administrative office and faculty department devoted themselves to classifying freshmen.
Classes are divided based on the results of the basic evaluation.
Because you can’t teach in a uniform way without considering the level.
So that the good kids can do better, and the bad kids can do better.
Han Min-ha entered the lower class.
I wasn’t disappointed because I didn’t expect much.
After the class was determined, a management assistant was assigned.
An administrative assistant, in simple terms, is like a homeroom teacher and guides the students in the academy in general.
They say they are teaching assistants, but they just don’t have the talent of a hero.
In the first place, you can’t enter the academy faculty with a decent career.
Just then, the head of the faculty department came in and sat at the top of the conference table and greeted them lively.
“Good evening everyone!”
Professors stared at each other, not knowing how to react to the absurd greetings from the morning.
In an instant, I understood the situation.
The head of the faculty probably had to stay up all night due to class assignments, so he didn’t sleep, so he made a ridiculous joke about today, not morning, but evening.
Of course, staying up all night would be an exaggeration.
What a really pointless joke.
Among the professors, Heo Tae-hyun, a professor of information acquisition and engineering who served as the head of the faculty for quite a long time, opened his mouth.
“hahahahaha. Oh, manager. Did you stay up all night?”
“As expected, only Professor Heo understands.”
Professor Heo Tae-hyun explained to the other professors what the director’s joke was.
It was only then that the professors couldn’t help but burst into forced laughter and made conventional greetings such as ‘Good evening, manager’ and ‘Thank you for your hard work’.
Professor Heo Tae-hyun, who made eye contact with me, winked with an expression of ‘You already understood everything, right?’
As expected, his specialty is information acquisition and crafting, so he’s very quick to notice.
Professor Huh is popular with people.
He is open-minded, quick-witted, jokes well, knows how to take care of others, and has no corner to hate.
Besides, he is the only person who can spit bitter words at the head of the faculty department with a smile on his face.
For some reason, he is still a regular professor, but he should have reached the rank of deputy professor.
I thought the atmosphere at the meeting would be ruined by a joke that was difficult to forgive, but thanks to Professor Heo, the worst situation was avoided.
Thinking the joke had worked, the head professor was in a good mood, so the meeting didn’t go too badly.
At today’s meeting, it was about organizing assigned classes, administrative assistants, and soon-to-be advisory professors.
There was no special content, and the class was organized, so teach according to the level more systematically.
To prepare for the formation of an advisor, to look at the students in advance, Jeong Do.
When the celebration was over, the head of the faculty clapped vigorously and said,
“Let’s fight today too, everyone. Prepare for relief!”
“yap…!” “Yah…”
At that, the professors raised their fists reluctantly.
Only Professor Heo Tae-hyeon cheered with a loud ‘yap!’
“Start relieving!”
“Wonderful…! Powerful…! Successful…!”
“Together!”
“Pulpfulpul!”
I thought as I raised my fist three times, three short and quick three times, a total of six times.
It’s crazy.
A meeting of current and former hero professors.
Ordinary people would think that we are having in-depth discussions every morning on how to efficiently educate aspiring heroes who will be responsible for the future.
But the reality is ‘full full full’.
“Thank you for your hard work! Get up!”
When the slogan was over, Professor Heo Tae-hyun shouted.
Professor Heo always acts like that at the end of the meeting and makes sure to tie the knot.
If you don’t do that, the professor director won’t go out and sit down and keep chatting.
“thank you for your effort!”
At Professor Heo’s words, as if the professors were running away, they got up from their chairs and left the teachers’ room.
So, the practical slogan of our faculty is ‘Thank you for your hard work. Please wake up’.
I was just getting up from my seat when the head of the faculty called me.
“Professor. Go see me for a second.”
“Yes, boss.”
When I sat back down, the head of the faculty pointed to the seat diagonally in front of me.
“Come closer this way. Hey, don’t you want to talk to me?”
“No. I’ll go.”
When I moved to that place, the head of the faculty waited for the other professors to leave before saying.
“How is your body these days?”
“It’s okay. It’s thanks to the manager’s care.”
“What do you care about? By the way, aren’t you going to accept an advisor this year too?”
“I’m not sure yet.”
In fact, I filmed Han Min-ha, but I couldn’t say anything about it because I didn’t know the professor’s intentions.
“I heard that during the entrance ceremony last time, Yu Hee-won and I were talking to each other?”
“It’s a little too much to say it’s a full name, but it’s true that we had a few words of conversation.”
“What did you say?”
“I asked if I was a professor, so I said yes. That was it.”
The professor furrowed his eyebrows and scratched his chin as if he didn’t believe me.
“Hmm. Is that so? That wasn’t the story from the meeting between the advisory chairman and the dean, wasn’t it?”
“Then what was it?”
“I heard that you talked about the advisor, didn’t you?”
I can roughly guess what the situation is.
It seems Yoo Hee-won told her father about me.
Did you already take a picture of me?
“Well, I never said anything like that.”
“Is that so? Anyway… I’m talking about the advisor.”
“Aren’t you trying to tell me to accept Yu Hee Won?”
“What? When did I do that?”
“Isn’t that what you meant?”
“No, no. The selection of the guidance students is based on mutual agreement, so how can the manager say that he is nasty?”
Even so, the head of the faculty continued to speak quietly.
“By the way… This time, I saw that Yu Hee-won was the top of the basic evaluation. You know, right? The top of the basic evaluation is to graduate and start right away from B grade.”
“I know.”
“Wouldn’t it be great luck and experience to be able to teach students like this while living as a professor? Even though I’ve been a professor for 30 years, I really covet it.”
“Then, how about you being an advisor?”
“What… what…?”
The head of the department was flustered and stuttered.
“Wouldn’t it be better if the head of the department directly took charge of the management rather than a professor of an unpopular subject like me? Judging from Yoo Hee-won’s ability and background, a general professor would be much more suitable than a regular professor.”
“Uh… is that so…?”
“Yes. The advisory chairman is so interested in his son’s education, but when he finds out that the advisor is a basic defense professor with a consumptive cough…”
As I intentionally blurted out the end of my words, the head of the faculty began to roll her eyes here and there as if uneasy.
“That’s also true. Professor, you’re right.”
“There is nothing wrong with the regulations, so the head of department should rather do it himself. Perhaps the advisory chairman and the dean will also like it. A busy head professor goes out of his way to educate students.”
“Ummm…”
“I can relieve the burden because I can not take on such a heavy responsibility, the director is good because he can teach excellent students ahead of his retirement age, Hee-Won Yoo should be educated by the director who is better than me, and the dean can be appointed by the advisory chairman. The blind man is happy that the general manager is teaching his daughter. Everyone is good.”
The head of the faculty closed his mouth and was lost in thought.
It must be hard to suppress the greed that rises in your heart.
Originally, I was at the level of being praised and finished with me as an advisor, but suddenly it changed to a board where I could receive the attention and trust of a high-ranking person with my whole body.
In addition, the liking for me will also rise.
Yoo Hee-won’s advisor is a position that everyone covets.
Even if you leave it alone, you will be the chief on your own, you can form a network with the advisory chairman, and there is no other position that is suitable if you can accept Yu Hee-won’s personality.
It wasn’t enough to refuse such a position, to the point of recommending it to a superior.
Of course, this is only possible because our manager is a person who is greedy for the old days.
A normal, smart deputy head professor would have understood my intentions as they were.
“for now…”
After a while, the manager opened his mouth.
“I’m going to tell the dean first. I’ll tell you that your opinion is like that and that it’s helpful for the academy to take care of Yu Hee-won myself.”
“Do it. The dean will probably be very proud of you.”
“Is that so? Do you think so?”
Instead of answering, I showed a faint smile.
* * * * *
I was just leaving the research building for a lecture when someone called me.
“Hey Professor Hyun!”
When I turned around, I was smoking a cigarette in the smoking room over there, and Professor Heo Tae-hyun gestured.
As he pretended to smoke a cigarette with his fingers and shook his head, Professor Heo smiled and rubbed the cigarette on the floor to extinguish it and waved his hand to disperse the smoke.
“Are you done now?”
“Yes.”
“What did you talk about with the manager? What else are you talking nonsense about?”
I pondered for a moment whether I should speak up.
Professor Heo Tae-hyun is a professor specializing in information acquisition and crafting.
If you put your mind to it, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find out the conversation I had with the head of the faculty department.
It’s fortunate that he’s kind to me. If he were my enemy, he would have been quite a headache.
I’d rather just say it.
“It’s about the advisor.”
“Professor? Why?
“You already knew.”
“No, I didn’t know. But other than that, there’s nothing else to talk about.”
As someone who has worked in the information field for a long time, he infers the situation even with small clues.
“So, did you decide to take it?”
“No. It was a very burdensome position, so I suggested to the director that he be the advisor directly…”
“hahahaha!”
Before I could finish my words, Professor Heo burst into laughter.
I don’t think it’s a very funny story, but he laughed while stealing tears, slapped me on the shoulder, and made a fuss.
“You bastard Professor Hyun. Anyway, you’re a funny bastard.”
“Are you kidding me?”
“You bastard. Aren’t you the manager Mac on purpose?”
“It’s not like that, it’s because I really don’t want to take on Yu Hee Won.”
“Honey, what kind of parent would like it if, just after taking a picture of you, the old manager suddenly showed up with a shaved head and offered to teach his daughter?”
“I do, but I really don’t want to play Yu Hee Won.”
“That’s right. It’s nice to have the lights on, but if the lights are too hot, you’ll burn your hair.”
Professor Huh giggled as if his joke was funny and waved at me.
“Go now. It’s time for the lecture to begin soon.”
“I’ll go, Professor Heo.”
“OK.”
The spring breeze in the morning was still chilly, and if you were outside for too long, you might have another coughing fit.
I hurriedly crossed over to the lecture hall and went up to the lecture room.
Coincidentally, today’s first class was the upper class where Yu Hee-won belonged.
As soon as I arrived at the classroom and was preparing for the lecture, the children began to enter the classroom one by one.
“Hello professor.” “Good morning.”
“Professor, how are you?”
Yoo Hee-won entered with a smile.
