chapter 20
20. This World is Too Crazy
“Master, did senior brother save me…?”
Su Kexin’s delicate fingers fiddled with the white blanket.
“Was it senior brother who brought people to save me?”
“It wasn’t. He went to save you all by himself.”
“Alone? Impossible, right? There were so many disciples from the Demonic Cultivation Sect then.”
“There were many, but we saw it with our own eyes. He stood alone against numerous disciples of the Demonic Cultivation Sect, even the vicious sect leader Du Xu admitted defeat to him.”
“This…”
Su Kexin listened in disbelief. The disciples of the Demonic Cultivation Sect were treacherous, and their moves were vicious. She knew it well, she was almost killed, and senior brother Lino was only at the second stage of the Spirit Realm. How could he possibly rely on himself alone…
But Zhao Yueqing said she saw it with her own eyes, and there was Du Xu’s testimony, which couldn’t be false.
And in her head, there was a faint memory, as if there was someone like senior brother fighting with the disciples of the Demonic Cultivation Sect.
Zhao Yueqing asked, “Kexin, do you know about the Heavenly Dragon that appeared in the Wind Sea Forest?”
Su Kexin nodded: “I know, we even encountered it. It was quite fierce, and even the eldest sister couldn’t confront it head-on.”
Zhao Yueqing: “Then do you know who killed the Heavenly Dragon?”
“Who killed it? Was it Elder Yuan?”
“No, it was senior brother Lino, I saw it with my own eyes.”
“You’re saying senior brother killed the Heavenly Dragon?!” Su Kexin was shocked, once again finding it hard to believe.
“Yes, he killed it,” Zhao Yueqing said with a proud light laugh. “We were in a dire situation, and senior brother Lino used the Five Thunderbolts to kill the dragon and saved us. But he left in a hurry, he must have known you were in danger and rushed to save you.”
“Senior brother, he…”
Su Kexin was at a loss for words, as if she had woken up to a world that had drastically changed. Her low-ranked senior brother, who was looked down upon by everyone, had become a great hero who punished the demonic dragon and eradicated the demonic disciples.
In comparison, she was just a burden he had saved, and she felt ashamed that even though she called him senior brother, she had never really noticed his brilliance, let alone learned from him.
Senior brother was truly amazing. Everyone looked down on him, but he stepped forward in the moment of crisis.
She owed senior brother a great debt of gratitude, a life-saving grace, for which she was endlessly thankful.
Knock knock.
At this moment, someone knocked on the door, and Zhao Yueqing went to open it.
It was Elder Yuan and Zhou Jianhu.
“Kexin, you’re awake. It’s good that you’re safe.”
Elder Yuan, seeing Su Kexin awake, also felt more at ease, “Ah, this time it’s my fault. There was a problem with the Xuan Disk that I didn’t discover in time, putting you all in danger. I’ve been negligent.”
“Elder Yuan, it’s not your fault, don’t blame yourself,” Su Kexin said with a slight smile. “As long as everyone is safe, that’s what matters.”
The Elder sighed deeply, “Child, you’re too optimistic. It’s all thanks to Lin Nuo, otherwise, both of you would have been on the road to the underworld.”
“Elder, what exactly happened to senior brother?” Su Kexin’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.
“I’m not clear on the details either, but I’m certain he’s the one who killed many of the Demonic Cult’s disciples, including the ruthless Du Xu. In fact, many have seen it, not just me. But this child seems unwilling to discuss it with us, and the situation remains a mystery to this day.”
The Elder sighed as he spoke, “Ah, I’m truly ashamed. I was supposed to lead the team, but it was all thanks to Lin Nuo that we turned the tide. I’ve lost all face, and I must apologize to the sect leader when I return.”
Then, the scene fell silent, everyone lost in thought.
A Spirit Realm second-tier cultivator, not favored by anyone, resolved the crisis all by himself.
Before the event, he was unassuming and low-profile; after, he remained humble and did not boast, caring not for the public eye, solely promoting chivalry. This is what a true master is.
“Where’s senior brother?”
Su Kexin spoke softly, breaking the silence. She owed Lin Nuo a great favor and wanted to thank him in person, but the hero of the hour was nowhere to be seen.
“He’s gone out,” the Elder replied.
…
By a fish pond, under a clear sky.
Lin Nuo sat on a small stool fishing, his bucket filled with lively big fish.
“Why has it turned out like this…”
Lin Nuo pondered while fishing, sorting through his thoughts for a long time before roughly understanding what had happened.
He was supposed to rush to kill Su Kexin, but a heavenly dragon blocked the way, and he blasted it with a divine punishment technique, saving a large group of people, achievement +1.
Su Kexin erupted and killed a bunch of Demonic Cult disciples, but she had no memory of it. Coincidentally, Zhong Ping disguised himself as Lin Nuo, causing internal strife with Du Xu. It was a dog-eat-dog fight, and just so happened that Yuan Heng and the others saw part of the process. In the end, both sides were injured, and just when they arrived, they thought it was Lin Nuo’s doing.
On one side, Su Kexin annihilated the Demonic Cult disciples, and on the other, the Demonic Cult fools were fighting amongst themselves. What did he do? Nothing, and yet everyone damn well thought it was him who did the killing.
But that wasn’t the worst part. The worst was that before Du Xu died, he pointedly named Lin Nuo, saying he only lost to him!
There was no washing this off; a hero’s template was directly applied to him.
So, what was the original goal? Wasn’t it to kill the protagonist? How did it turn into saving the world? Isn’t that what the protagonist is supposed to do?
Off-topic, the big villain runs off to save the world, zero points.
And would I, the iron-boned villain, accept the gratitude of these cultivators?
But, that pork floss cake was really delicious.
Lin Nuo covered his face, frowning.
This world is too crazy, even the villains become heroes…
