The Vengeful Wife

Chapter 9: Divorce Contract

At midnight, Callous was stirred from his sleep by Berlin's sudden movements and whimpering. It was very easy to be awoken. He was a light sleeper. As she wept, he immediately opened his eyes.

"Callous!"

His brows knitted. Callous looked at her. She had curled herself into a ball, holding the blanket Soo tightly, covered in sweat, like she was guarding herself from something or someone.

"I never did it. It wasn't me. It was..."

I did not, did not kill your mother. Believe me...

"Callous, Please.."

In her nightmare, She was pushed and thrown onto the floor. Her hair was a mess, her makeup was ruined and there were bruises on her skin.

Glowering eyes filled with pure hatred and disgust stared down at her. He was supposed to be her husband, the man she had come to love. Yet, here he was glaring daggers into her soul.

The look he gave her was bone-chilling as if she had slaughtered his entire family. Was it possible to hate someone so much to the point where their eyes were practically burning with venom?

A simple glance at his infuriated eyes was enough to send chills down one's spine.

Standing next to Callous with her arms wrapped around his chest was Tasha, laughing contently and yelling, "I will replace you to be his wife. Berlin, burn in hell!!"

Please, I did not... do it.

"Help, help..."

Berlin was trying to breathe, struggling with her hands like she was on fire, trying to escape, grabbing onto something or anything.

So, terrified, desperate and pitiful, seeing her toss and turn, Callous was about to wake her. When she suddenly hugged him. In that instant, she looked relieved, as if she had been through life and death.

Callous was caught off guard.

She was soaked in sweat and tears thrilled down her face. When he thought she was doing that deliberately, he suddenly heard her breathing evenly.

She was indeed asleep...

Callous was in a daze, trying to push her away. However, the unconscious hug from her was extremely tight. He tried to let her go and she hugged him even tighter.

In the Family mansion, up the hill, two people were still fast asleep under the sheets. Basking in the comfort the other gave. Because they slept late last night each having their reasons, they weren't even up, when it was breakfast time.

Thirty minutes later, Callous slowly opened his eyes. He was used to waking up early, so it wasn't a difficult thing that he could still get up on time even though he had only a few hours of sleep last night.

The first thing Callous did when he opened his eyes was to glance at the woman who was still sleeping beside him.

Remembering last night's events, his brows creased in annoyance. He wondered what dream she had. It had taken half of his sleep.

Callous got out of bed, picked up his phone, and made a call to his assistant before walking into the bathroom to freshen up and prepare for work.

He walked out twenty minutes later dressed in an office wear.

He walked towards the bed to check on Berlin. Glancing at his wristwatch, he guessed she would be up late today. So he left the room, completely ignoring her.

Downstairs in the dining room, Mrs. Lydia is speaking to the butler.

Soon, Callous was seen making his way out. Mrs. Lydia looked surprised when she saw him, all dressed up. Setting off. She was hoping something happened between her son and Berlin last night.

"Callous, why are you going so early?" Mrs. Lydia asked with a frown as she walked over to him and the butler bowing at the sudden presence of his young master, taking his leave.

"I have to get back to the office, unfortunately, I have a very important deal to seal, So I can't have breakfast here. I will have it in the office." Callous says to his Mom and leaves abruptly, not giving his Mom a chance to ask multiple questions.

Berlin woke up shortly after and she felt it was the best sleep she had in a long time. Stretching her arms, she suddenly noticed Callous had left...

This how it was. All the time.

Callous never took his family's words seriously except his Mom's. But this time, when his Mom asked him to stay in the Wayne family Mansion the first three days after the wedding, Callous refused saying one day was enough. Which was the beginning of their separation.

And today was the day that Callous had moved back to another apartment in her previous lifetime. As she expected, he had already left for work. Giving an excuse about an urgent deal!

That was partly the truth.

In front of her, they both acted like a boss and secretary but closed doors...

It was hard for her.

Just thinking about Callous, Berlin felt her heart clench in pain. She had grown fond of him so much. It felt like decades when she felt butterflies in her stomach anytime she saw him and her heart bled.

The more she thought about how she had loved him, the more tears began to well up in her eyes. Just when the first tear slid down, Berlin broke down and wept bitterly.

She was so much in love with him but he abandoned her and left her alone. He never wanted her and even after coming back to life, she thought the love had gone away. She was very wrong!

Berlin knew better than to argue with common sense on this and just accepted what he desired and left. She was not about to spend the rest of her life with someone who was in love with her enemy.

'And I could never let Mrs. Lydia die because of me again. But what should I do? Should I run?' Berlin thought. No, she couldn't let her enemies have the last laugh this time. Berlin stopped thinking and smiled to herself.

"It was now or never."

Hell no!

Quickly she did not wait for a moment, drying off her tears.

Immediately, Berlin picked up her phone. Turned it on and started to type out a document.

After more than an hour, she had finished.

Ten clearly stated clauses. Berlin looked at the clause again and became saddened. Even if she did not do it. It was going to happen nonetheless.

The contract Callous had drafted in her previous life, had been effective for six years, while the one she was drafting now would be effective for one year.

Now everything was ready, all she needed was a stamp from a lawyer. The title of the document was written: DIVORCE CONTACT.
