The Tycoon Inheritance

Chapter 41: 41.

Morning Markets has become a social hub for homemakers and the elderly. Loud voices are mixed, but if one listens carefully, you can hear the latest gossip. You don't have to listen most of the time, the facial expressions of the listeners and the talker give anyone an idea of what is being said.

In one of these markets was a middle-aged woman haggling over the price of vegetables with a vendor. Her well-kept appearance garnered the attention of the males in her age group and the envy of the women. One look can tell that she was and still is a flower and had a very fortunate upbringing. Her dark hair was neatly styled into a bun at the base of her neck, to give a view of her fair face.

Dressed in a slightly faded cheongsam didn't take away from her mature figure. A beauty no matter the age.

The gold bangles on her wrist and the earrings on her ear shone under the morning sun. She stood before the vendor with a hint of superiority on her face but her pretty image softened the look.

Chang Xinyu finally ended her haggling and walked away with her goods. Head held high she walked along the stalls and returned greetings to passersby, she met up with a few of her book club friends.

The two women like her had kids about to go into society to make a living.

To the mothers, it's time for their children to find a partner, get married, and bring home a grandchild for them.

When it comes to a prospective partner, the main point is what the other side has to offer for their child to live well.

Chang Xinyu believes her daughter deserves the best and she will have the best.

"Sister Chang, you're looking good as always," one commented. The woman's eyes touched on Chang Xinyu's dyed hair and trim figure. She has always been envious of this woman. No one believes she's the mother of two grown children.

"Thank you, Sister Lu. How is everything shaping up? Is XiaoFan returning home before he goes out to work," Chang Xinyu asked with raised eyebrows. The subtle mockery was in her tone, annoying Sister Lu by the second.

So many underlying meanings were in those questions. If one weren't versed in double-talking, the entire conversation would be lost to them.

"My XiaoFan misses home so he will be returning to develop near us. I'm thankful those four years of college are over and tuition fees are done with. It was so troublesome." Sister Lu was poking at Chang Xinyu's struggle to keep up with two children in college. The husband is a simple manager of a small company with little influence.

"Yes. Thankfully my Rui is in her last year. In a few weeks, she will be officially a working woman." Chang Xinyu already bragged that her daughter found a job at a prominent company in Nanjing through a job fair. This made her bask in the envious looks of her friends.

Finding a job before graduation reflects on the child's talent.

"That's great. XiaoZheng can only give me a weekend then head back." This comment came from Sister Lang another book club friend. Her son was admitted to a first-tier college and is said to be a schoolmaster - top of his class on every test. He's considered 'someone else's child'.

Chang Xinyu heard the gloating and brought up the topic of marriage partners for their kids.

This was the common housewife language. Snide remarks and hidden bragging.

She had more things over these two. Her daughter is known as the school flower and graduated from a top university. Her partner will be an offspring of the elite.

"Since the kids are starting their jobs soon, it's best to consider potential partners, right? We want what's best for them," she said softly with a concerned expression.

Such an accomplished actress, this one.

The two ladies weren't new to this. This genteel lady was a hidden viper. One slip of the tongue and she will bring up old accounts and add new ones.

"You're right but the young people these days are different. It's best to let them handle this on their own," Sister Lang said giving Chang Xinyu a provocative smile.

There was a reason why she sought out Chang Xinyu. Her son blessed her with a piece of incredible news. It seems Madam Chang hasn't been informed yet.

Yes, her son and Chang Xinyu's daughter Zhang Rui were admitted to the same university but studied in different fields. The daughter reports to the mother like an angel but is like a heathen in the provincial capital.

Sister Lang kept all of it to herself, waiting for Chang Xinyu's bubble to burst.

It's like watching tension-filled scenes in a drama before the huge climax appears.

The thought process of it all is a bit mean but, hey, what else is there to amuse themselves at their age?

"Sister Lang, you can't think this way. You must have a firm hand in these things. We don't want our children to suffer after we step into the Yellow River. For example, My Rui was pursued relentlessly by a young man from a prominent family after so much chasing she finally agreed. She said they are both considering whether to get a marriage certificate after they settle in their jobs or before.

I agree with the former. If you allow them to move on half-hearted decisions they will lose out."

Sister Lu and Sister Lang heard the bragging of her daughter's good luck.

Sister Lang kept silent and snickered in her heart; Sister Lu frowned at the mention of this prominent family's son. Wasn't Zhang Rui's boyfriend from a humble family and a promising young man?

Sister Lu posed this question.

"Tch! Talk about a dog reaching for the prized meat. It turns out he was a leech, depending on my little girl. I told her to cut off that scum right away. Thankfully she did so in time. No one will take my Zhang Rui for a fool." Chang Xinyu pointed her nose to the sky and declared everything aloud.

Sister Lu glanced at Sister Lang who had been quiet for a while and grew curious about her friend's abnormal submissive behavior. Is she missing something?

"Little Rui have suffered. I pray my son doesn't reach such women. I heard that young women these days are quite vicious - playing with men's emotions, sucking them dry of their earnings, even two-timing them. The society today is so rotten," Sister Lang said with a long sigh.

"Not my Rui! She knows to respect herself," Chang Xinyu preached.

'Right. As you say,' Sister Lang patronized inwardly.

Sister Lu was lost in the translation of the cross-talk.

~~~~~~
Chang Xinyu returned home humming with a smile on her face. Her tote bag was filled with purchases and her feet were light after talking about her darling children. Checking the mailbox, she grabbed the few envelopes and walked into her house, not looking at the mail.
Bills. That's the original consensus when checking the mail.
Checking the time, she did what little housekeeping needed to be done, settled into the sofa, and called her older sister, a housewife.
Deep into their gossiping, Chang Xinyu decided to open the bills to make a mental note of them. With the children out of the house, the consumption rate has lowered greatly.
Flipping through three times, she reached a letter with her daughter's University logo. Excitement coursed through her body, and she reported the event to her sister, boldly thinking that her Rui received a special commendation or her exemplary record throughout the four years.
"Rui told me that she's excited for graduation and her new boyfriend bought a new laptop and outfits for their first work day. All of it cost thousands of dollars. It's her luck to have such a man in her life."
Tearing the envelope open, she retrieved the two-page letter and read fervently.
The gloating smile on her face stiffened as she read on. Her eyes were wide in disbelief, she could feel her cheeks burning from the solidified smile and the contents of the letter.
The phone that was propped between her cheek and shoulder fell onto the sofa cushion and bounced off, falling to the floor.
"Yu'er! Are you there?" Her sister's voice seems distant.
Her entire world of sound was now silent. She can only hear her deep breathing due to the shock she was struck by.
Chang Xinyu's hands shook as she read over her daughter's expulsion to make sure it was a trick but it was not.
It's real.
"Below average grades. Bribery. False accusation. Character Defaming. EXPELLED!!!" Her voice rose by an octave after reading each violation.
Her disbelief grew to shock which moved to a pressuring anger on her heart and her head.
The contents of the letter blurred over the words her daughter smoothly told her over the phone. It was all scripted! Fake!
The grievance of a scum ex-boyfriend.
The mention of the university's praise for her academics.
Her meritorious deeds.
Is the rich boyfriend a lie too?
Her daughter was expelled. EXPELLED!! A disgrace to the family. The tuition money they saved up is lost. No degree, no graduation certificate. Nothing to prove that she's a college student.
Their family has lost face.
They will be ridiculed.
"This isn't the child I gave birth to. This is a witch. The devil! No child of mine can do such a thing. Never!"
On the phone Chang Xinyu's sister was frantically calling out, when she heard the angry yells followed by distressed wailing, she ended the call to pick up another to her brother-in-law.
The man became alert by his sister-in-law's words. What happened to his wife?
His office was thirty minutes away and he feared that his wife will be in trouble. He dutifully called two friends she frequently talked to and explained the situation.
These two turned out to be Sister Lang and Sister Lu.
Though they wage a war of words against each other, they will help each other to an extent. The husband called so it must be serious.
They rushed to the Zhang family home which was two streets away. Their hurried walk and desperate need for a quick ride attracted a lot of curiosity.
The two mentioned Chang Xinyu was in trouble of some sort. A few voiced their concern but didn't join to rush to the house.
Sister Lang expected this and Sister Lu was indifferent about it. Chang Xinyu's viper tongue caused a lot of bad faces.
They reached the Zhang home and boldly entered the front door. Navigating to the living room, Chang Xinyu's cries were their guide.
The sight they got was utterly pitiful.
Neat hair is now a tangled mess. Red-rimmed eyes from crying. The face has an ugly shade of anger. Shattered glass dotted the floor as the main character of this mess was clutching her chest, cursing out loud.
"Despicable. How did I raise such a rat? How dare she do this to us? A DISGRACE! AN UNSIGHTLY DISGRACE!"
Her shouts of anger were becoming erratic. Her hand on her chest became tighter and her breathing was becoming harsh. The two approached her cautiously, not knowing how to calm the woman down.
When they moved closer, they saw the scattered mail on the floor and Chang Xinyu's forgotten phone. The woman staggered slightly and held the back of her head, when she saw Sister Lang and Sister Lu, she began her tirade.
"You've come to watch jokes huh? You rushed here to see the downfall of my family. Do you want to see? I will show you. I will give you a front seat show," Chang Xinyu yelled. She winced in pain while grabbing the opened letter from the floor.
The two saw this and became genuinely worried. One tried to calm her down while the other called 120. They're at an age when it's dangerous to get too stimulated.
When she threw the letter in Sister Lu's face, Chang Xinyu cried out in pain and fell forward.
"XINYU!"
"XINYU! DON'T FOOL AROUND WITH DEATH!"
Holding their friend, they anxiously waited on the ambulance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The final course of action from XXX University on the violations caused by Li Feng, Zhang Rui, and Lin Shen reached the homes a day apart respectively.

Li Feng's father wanted to disown his unfilial son right away but the mother's love stopped him. Madam Li had a strong mentality from caring for her birth family and now her own family. Her experience and calm mind allowed the family to stay connected by a thread.

Though her son lost his special commendation in the Athletic Department, he can still receive his diploma. The black mark on his record is the worry.

The other thing Li Feng's parents found was the official letter from one of Nanjing's gold medal law firm.

Father Li's disappointment grew towards his only son. Madam Li began to worry about the fee to hire a lawyer and how long a court battle between the two parties would be.

Li Feng called and confessed everything and the part played, even the reason why he agreed to Lin Shen's plan.

Money.

That was the reason.

Madadm and Father Li recalled their son's refusal of money they earned for his last tuition. He even refused expense money.

It was because of this.

Father Li had a dark expression on his face by the end of his son's confession. He was ashamed for not being able to provide for his family fairly and giving his son grounds to accept money from such unscrupulous things.

He was also angry that the rich played his son as a puppet. This was something no parent wanted their child to experience.

As for the person their son provoked, they had two minds on their proposal in the lawyer's letter.

Under their country's law, defamation has both jail time and a fine. The fine is 50,000 Yuan or more, according to the victim. If unable to pay such money, six months jail time is given. Having a jail record is detrimental to anybody's development.

But.

This Chen Kai gave their son some leniency. \\

According to his last minute ditch effort in completing his graduating thesis and speaking up at the last minute, he was offered a private compensation of 20,000 Yuan. It must be paid within the next two months through his lawyer.

"Mom. Dad. I'm sorry for bringing shame to our family. I have a few savings left over from that guy. I will pay this compensation on my own and.... I decided to stay in Nanjing.

I will try to visit in the future."

~~~~~~~~~
One took responsibility for his actions.
The other decided to hide the truth.
The last one had no choice but to handle his own affairs.
The head of the Lin Family was still in Nanjing when both the University and lawyer reached his home in Jiangxi.
The house manager has the authority to open the family's mail due to his masters not being available 70% of the time. He was the first to know of the second young master's expulsion in Jiangxi.
He was shocked. Like the entire staff, he expected the second young master to return home with a simple diploma stating that he actually attended college. They all know his level of learning and he has no money-earning talent, not even in liberal arts.
Now. This expulsion. The grounds of it brought shame to the old manager's face. He watched over the child as he grew and knew of his arrogance but he never thought it would be to this extent.
"I guess I have to prepare for a long tantrum from the mistress when she returns," the house manager whispered to himself.
Like the other two families, the Law Firm correspondence arrived also.
After reading the contents, the house manager quickly called Master Lin Yang and reported this matter.
The response he received was far from what he expected.
A tired laugh and strict orders.
It took the house manager ten minutes to digest the orders before calling an urgent staff meeting in the staff compound.
When everyone was gathered, the manager stood on a small stage and eyed the confused and curious looks they all had on their faces.
"Quiet! Mark today! Approved by the master of the house and the elders of the Lin Family. The second Young Master Lin Shen was banished from the ancestral home and all properties for five years. No one is allowed to help him in any shape, form, or manner. This includes any new staff entering the estate and the various companies.
All of his belongings excluding the cars in the estate. I will send the address at the end. No one is allowed to go against the orders of Master Lin Yang. In this act, only the master and the elders are the authority. Thank you for your attention. Disperse!"
No one moved.
The house manager yelled at them to get to work.
Their movements were a bit awkward and their expressions flustered as the aftereffects of the news.
The second Young Master was banished.
Can he survive outside for a month, much less five years?
What will the madam say?
At the thought of the madam's reaction to the news, some shuddered from bad memories and some touched their ears subconsciously.
The master isn't here and the madam will return in the afternoon. It's best to get started.
The house manager was meticulous in packing. He organized everything from the cardboard boxes to the shipping labels. A moving van was prepared to send it all to Nanjing, Jiangsu.
With the large number of staff working together, they were 95% finished when the madam came home.
She was distracted a bit by giving orders to the help.
When she entered the main hall of the villa, she sensed that something was off. At that time, the house manager was leading two male servants through main hall with the last of the boxes.
"Butler Zhao, what's going on?"
The house manager quietly gave his last instructions and approached the madam. When he heard the door closed firmly he spoke.
"The estate was executing Master Yang's orders. This order has also been approved by the elders of the family."
Madam Lin wasn't listening attentively, she placed her focus on ordering a few snacks from her personal maid and brushing her phone. When she heard the last sentence, she turned her head sharply to the old man.
"What order is that?" she asked with a sneer. It was clear that she had a dislike for her in-laws after all these years. Even worse her lack of tolerance for her husband.
"The second Young Master has been banished for five years; help is prohibited...."
"WHAT!!! MY SON! THEY SENT AWAY MY SON?!"
Her shriek echoed throughout the hall. Her angry state was murderous as she rushed up to Butler Zhao.
The old man didn't flinch. He kept his serene gaze and answered her steadily.
"Master Yang made this decision after he visited the second Young Master's University. I advise you to call him to clarify."
Madam Lin sneered at the old man and dialed her husband's number. "I never knew that the great Lin Yang could be so cruel to his own children. I gave you one to be your damn copy why do you have to take mine? You despicable bastard!"
She didn't wait for her husband to answer initially, she aimed her words right at his throat, wanting to cut off whatever excuse he wanted to say. But.... she overestimated the state of things.
Lin Yang was in a meeting with a potential client when she called. He didn't give her a rebuttal. He allowed her to rant to the heavens until she was blue in the face. When she finished her last curse, he spoke unhurriedly.
"Your upbringing brought shame to the Lin family. Why not ask what he did? This matter is settled. If you wish to help him, do it on your own strength. I have spoken enough over the 20-odd years about his upbringing. Now you can see the wondrous results.
Butler Zhao will help you."
The call was ended.
Madam Lin wasn't content. She threw her phone across the room and began to wail. She complained to her ancestors about the unfair treatment in the Lin family, the cruel life her baby son would have to live, and the disadvantage of being the only woman in the house.
Butler Zhao allowed her to continue her tirade as he retrieved the letters.
He calmly returned and handed the items to her.
She snatched it from his hand and read the letter from XXX University. The vivid blue logo caught her eye at first glance.
"He was obviously provoked. That doesn't deserve expulsion," she commented without a thought.
She threw the letter over her shoulder without a bother and read the next letter.
"PRISON?!"
~~~~~~~~~

What happened to the trio has crossed Chen Kai's mind after the campus infamy but he didn't dig into any details.

Presently he was on his way to a watch boutique before he actually traveled to the auction.

It slipped his mind to get a modern timepiece for XiaoYan. If he didn't double check the kid's comfort and outfit, he wouldn't have spotted such a thing.

Well, Chen Kai has been distracted since the previous night. He was worrisome like an old mother-in-law. He doesn't understand why the system administrators pulled such a bold and risky move.

He was currently gazing out the car window but in reality, he was staring at the object in his virtual warehouse.

The heart was large and had no sense of real beauty. It's jagged and rough to touch. The dark violet color was fascinating.

There was no thoughts on creating anything with it at the moment, he was concerned about any backlash that may come with these moments from that life.

'System are you sure about this?'
