The Survival of an Inferior

3. Dungeon Hell

A pack of Snow Wolves roams around the forest searching for food. One wolf roams around the rock, sniffing it.

Suddenly, a wooden spear ambushes from the snow and pierces the wolf.

"AWOO!!!" The wolf cries out.

The other wolves heard the cry and runs toward the injured kin.

*tch!*

But the snowy ground below some wolves collapses when they step on it, throwing them into a deep pit.

*PSCH!!*

Beneath the pit are some sharp wood anchored to the ground and the wolves perished in the trap.

The remaining three wolves jolts and looks around warily. Hesitating to save their comrade, they start leaving instead.

I come out of hiding under a heap of snow. In my hand is a spear that killed the first wolf.

I cut and peel the fur off the wolves. Afterwards, I bring only one carcass back with me to the cave.

I start a fire to cook the wolf meat.

Next, I stab a wooden stick through the meat and hang it above the fire.

For water, I had no choice but to climb the mountain until I find a frozen stream and directly drink the cold water beneath a layer of ice because I do not have a pot. Luckily, I haven't caught any gastric infection.

"When will the protagonist come..." I mumble.

There's one reason why I'm waiting here despite knowing the location. I'm currently in the Mountain of Iskaris, the location where the first campaign mission took place.

This mountain is named after the dragon Iskaris, a blue frost ferocious creature that roams the hills.

If I get spotted by the dragon, I can kiss my life goodbye.

"hoooooooooooooo" a deep cry echoes through the sky.

"Tch, speaking of the devil," I mumble.

It's the dragon.

I quickly put out the fire and hid behind a rock.

"HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

Wait...why is it getting louder-

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!*

The dragon crashes into the snow, ejecting a tsunami of mother nature. My body was swept along with the momentum and forcefully entered deeper into the cave.

Entering The Ancient City of Dwarves...

Tip: Monsters have weaknesses. Find them if you want to have an advantage.

------------------------------------------------------

*BOOOOOOOOM!!!*

*Thud!*

"Ack! Fuck...ugh..." I groan, grasping my back.

What happened? The dragon crashed? Why?! It sounded like she was crying in pain.

Did the story change?

I caress my head and stand up.

The sky is a foggy green, covering everything to the horizon.

Behind me is a broken bridge, leading only to the foggy void below. Beyond me is a pathway that leads to a large run-down village. From afar, I can see a castle surrounded by tall black walls. Some flying creature circles the castle, most likely demons.

A foul smell burns my throat in the air.

...

I sigh. The cave to the dungeon should be blocked by the snow, I can no longer rely on the protagonist.

The thought of surviving this dungeon alone sends a chill down my spine.

At the start of the game where the players are fidgeting with the basics, Elvis Arcane mercilessly throws them into the dungeon and forces them to face monsters over level 50.

The protagonist Rena brought 200 subordinates and raided the dungeon hoping to save a group of royalties kidnapped. At that time, she will be at level 30 while her subordinates are at level 15.

However, I am only level 6...and I am alone...

I sigh. Gripping the dagger firmly in my hand and enter the village.

The player is supposed to evenly spread the 200 subordinates for different purposes: Scouting, Attacking and Defending.

The army usually brings a supply cart with them and the player must do their best to hide it and protect it.

Afterwards, the player can either command specific subordinates or use the protagonist, Rena, herself to advance.

Throughout the empty village, the lingering death paints the landscape. Within the rotting huts are old pieces of equipment crafted by dwarves many years ago, I hold a small knife and inspect it.

---------------------------------

Old rusting Dagger.

Durability: 5/200

The weapon has been left to rot and is on the verge of collapse. It is not recommended to use this in battle.

---------------------------------

I grab as many knives as I can hold and proceed further into the village.

I reach a big plaza with a statue of a lady in the middle. The statue's torso is cracked and the arms are missing.

This is a landmark, the central checkpoint of a monster's patrol: the goblins.

I wait inside one of the huts for the patrolling monsters.

"Kekekeke." a cheeky voice comes. Two small goblins, each holding a glowing knife, walks and circle the statue. Those are enchanted weapons.

Once the first goblin walks past, I immediately ambush the second and stab one of the rusty knives into its nape. The knife breaks upon use.

"KACK?!!!" the small goblin cries out in pain.

"Keh?!" The first goblin exclaims.

I quickly follow up with a kick to the first goblin but it dodges aside and swiftly jumps in, aiming for my neck.

!!!!

In the nick of time, I tilt my head, barely dodging the attack. A trail of blood flows down.

The goblin sees my helplessness and giggles. "Kekeke prey..." The goblin says.
