11. No Longer Arsto
The Kas...no...the Turner family owns a big piece of land near the capital. However, as the useless black sheep of the Duke family, they kicked me out of the household and force me to live in a mansion located near the capital.
The capital of Elvis is located on the flat top of a steep mountain. Surrounded by many uneven terrains, it makes invasion difficult and the soldiers can rain hell on attacking enemies. Thus, the Kingdom is still surviving the Demon Lord's wrath.
The mountain's foundation and structure are reinforced with mana-infused mithril while the base is rigged with protective magic and traps. Overlaying the capital is a large barrier.
As I walk around the streets, many people are living a happy life, oblivious of the impending doom.
The sound of galloping comes from afar and stops beside me, it's a horse carriage. The carriage is made of polished wood and has a lining of gold on the edge. On the door, a medal of two swords forming an "X" is fixated on the top.
The coachman, an old lady with a grey ponytail in a tuxedo, jumps down and runs to me. "Young master! I finally found you! Where did you go?!" she exclaims.
...
"I'm sorry?" I say.
The old lady leans back with her jaws open in shock.
I sigh.
"What do you want?" I blurt. She scratches her scalp and goes ahead to open the carriage door. "Please let us return home. Mother will be looking for you."
I step inside and sit, putting my feet on the seat opposite. The old lady seems to be unfazed by the horrendous behaviour.
"Hah!" she says and whips the horses. Galloping starts to echo and the carriage vibrates.
I don't like to disrespect the elderly. To think I have to adopt Arsto's shitty behaviour.
...
I don't have a choice. If people start to get suspicious of my identity, I would attract unnecessary trouble.
However, like all humans, that doesn't mean Arsto cannot change. If I continue to have a slightly arrogant and rude demeanour, I should be fine despite being very different from the original Arsto.
There are bridges connecting each mountain to the capital. The old lady, named Amelie, uses the west gate to cross to another smaller mountain. In the mountains, there are regular sights of farmlands where they carve parts of the mountain out to form a flat surface and plant food there. If I'm not wrong, these are called Terrace Farming, the only form of farming Elvis can do.
Soon, a tall windmill can be seen together with a few cabins. And the next, a large white mansion of about three stories came.
I step out of the carriage. The mansion has a tall wall around it and the gate is guarded by two knights who are sleeping on the floor.
What are they doing...?
"Do we pay them?" I ask the old lady. The old lady nods. Hearing that makes me infuriated.
"Hey!" I shout.
!
"Ah! ah...It's you, young master. Go in go in." the knight waves his hand and goes back to sleep.
What the fuck?
I walk up to the knights and kick their faces.
?!
"Ouch?! W-What? Why did you do that?" The knights shout at me and stand up.
"Oh? This bastard is still talking back even after lazing around and being so fucking insolent?" I say.
"What? You!" One knight grips the sword's hilt and tries to scare me.
However, a condescending gaze can only be seen on my face. "Go ahead. Touch me and see what happens to your family." I say.
!
"Ugh... I-I'm sorry young master." The knight says.
"You are lucky we have limited manpower or I would have killed you off," I reply and walk past them.
I can feel the two knights' glances at my back.
"Was he not easy to handle in the past?" one of them whispers.
"Yes...What happened? Since when did he become so domineering?" The second knight replies.
The crest on their breastplate is the same double sword crossing, they are probably private knights of my family.
As expected...I can't stay in this family, especially after what happened in the future...
When I enter the mansion, I see several female servants picking on a single maid.
Seriously...?
"Oi," I say.
!
"Oh my! The young master is back! Young master, this bitch tried to steal your precious gold and artifacts in your room so I've punished her for you. If you want, you can play with her body as compensation?" The beautiful female servant with shoulder-length hair and a flower hair clip and emerald eyes says.
She isn't even batting an eye when lying. She's constantly shifting my attention to the victim, trying to put herself in a favourable position, and providing vague and misleading details about the crime. A boiling anger rises within me as some bad memories surface. I've met too many liars in my life to easily spot one.
"Explain the situation," I say.
"P-Pardon?" The blonde servant says.
She's pretending to be stupid?
"What's your name?" I say.
"My Lord? You always remember my name! This is not a good joke." The blonde servant says.
I see. This bitch was close to Arsto. If so, I can expect the majority of the personnel to the be same; They do say birds of the same feather flock together.
I click my tongue at the servant. "Why would I remember your name?"
"What?! It's Marca! What's wrong with the young master?" The blonde servant says.
Marca steps forward and tries to caress my cheek but I slap her hand away.
Her eyes widen in horror and she steps back.
I cannot stand their presence. I know I broke my character but...I just couldn't help it.
